Carter001: I had the same concern and wat I did was to contact the course administrator by email and I got a reply. I believe u should be able to get the contact of the relevant people from the website. Do u have a 2.1 or 2.2? If u have d former, u could apply straight for masters. |

Hello @estherdim I think u are amplifying some things here. Anyways my little advice will be on the way u started ur letter I think it should start like this I am pleased to apply for study permit of Canada and to submit my application for your consideration. I am, your name, a bachelor' of science in________, from________. (State ur school). I have been offered admission to undergo a two years Master of Engineering program at the University of Toronto, canada. I am to begin studies on the_______. My student ID number is_________. University of Toronto has a designated learning institution number_________. 2. Other things can fall into place after this. Just my 2 naira, work on ur introduction, this could b helpful. *smiles* 6 Likes 1 Share |

estherdim:Oh yeah, just change the masters prog to undergrad, Make sure u explain vividly y u want to study in Canada, even if the course is offered in Nigeria, state an advantage studying it over there will add to ur portfolio.. Dont start saying it will improve ur employment status wen u return. Maybe something like the curriculum is different, the course in CAD has added this and that which is not part of the curriculum here in naija. OK ermm, 1. I feel like it's an SOP FOR ADMISSION, Nonetheless, elaborate on the point I stated, also use the SOP as a way to let the VO KNOW OF UR HOME Ties here in Nigeria. 2. Don't over degrade ur country I think it sounds desperate. Hope this helps. I stand to be corrected 3 Likes |

Hello Guys, My brother is putting together his documents to enable him apply for a study permit to do an MBA in Canada. He wants to know whom to address the Letter of Reference from his office to (whether it should be addressed as "To Whom It May Concern" or to the Embassy directly). Please anyone who have submitted such a document should please advise. Thanks. |

I believe the gurus in the house will give advice on this. I really feel you,but sure there is always a way out in every situation.Stay positive please! I learnt so much from this,God will help us and this simply remind to keep every information I fill in my head or keep them somewhere in the event of planning to enter another country, the same information should be repeated without mincing words. Another lesson, always find a cogent reason to defend your reason for pursuing a course in Canada when in the true sense, such course exist in your country. Let me quickly share this,if you are applying for a Project Mgt program and you are asked in the questionnaire why you would like to study in Canada when such is offered in your country, you can simply defend yourself that, you have a dream to be a project consultant and as such, the 40 hour contact lecture with some project management preparatory class around the country will not give you the desired training/exposure you dream.Training in an international school will boost your chances to be relevant in your career globally. It will end in praise for us all. domex007: 1 Like |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by thesoj: 7:54pm On Mar 23, 2016 |
@estherdim, please take down your SOP asap. Someone else will copy it and use it for his/her app before you even use it. Plagiarism is very rampant on Nairaland. You don't want the VO to refuse your application because he/she thinks you plagiarized someone else's whereas it was someone else that plagiarized yours. I have seen many plagiarized SOPs emailed to me to help review. Edited: I am now unsure if the SOP you posted is yours or not (it looks familiar). If it isn't yours, then write your own from scratch . This process may take time (days to weeks), but it is well worth it. Think deeply about why you want to go to Canada (apart from the fact that you want to run away from Naija lol), what your Naija ambitions are (i.e. what are the sort of Naija problems/opportunities that you have identified and want to solve/harness), why & how studying your course in Canada would help accelerate your ability to achieve those Naija ambitions. Give examples of what specific skills from the course would develop you enough to be able to effectively pursue and implement your ambitions. Try as much as possible to show the VO that you are a serious person. Link what you have done in the past with those ambitions and future goals. Be credible and convincing, tying together parts of your life/educational trajectory (and application) to make a coherent whole. Be concise. Best wishes. 8 Likes |
