Question is, will they get the playing time? And at 20+, you no longer are seeking training facilities, you are looking to be involved. Messi for instance at 19 was already getting to play.

Can you honestly say Kelechi will play for City first team on a regular basis 2 years from now? Honestly.

That is why first I say for now he gets what he needs to develop. When he develops, he seeks playing time.

Yes. Iheanacho will get regular playing time, two years for now. His development is on point and he is already one of the best finishers in the game when you take his goals to playing time ratio.

The reason Man City spent so much on the academy is to have a kind of Barcelona set up where a lot of the squad is gotten from La Masia Academy. Iheanacho is a big part of the project. He has to play to begin the success of the project.

I do not see much young players close to Nacho's ability in the future for us to see someone in the market ahead of Nacho.

There is also an improved Contract waiting for Iheanacho as soon as he sorts out who represents him.

You make this mistake often. I have always said it that football progression is not like an arithmetic progression. Some will progress faster than others in a geometric fashion. In two years when Iheanacho would have turned 21-22, u would be amazed to see so many fantastic 21-22 years old players that you would be wondering where they were 2-3yrs back.

You think Iheanacho is the best 19yrs old footballer in the world. Let God keep us alive till that 2 years time you are talking about.

You made the same mistake of misunderstanding my statement. I said I do not see many, note many. I still expect more. I do not see a lot of them better than him.

Just as I did not see a lot being better than Fabregas, Messi, Mikel.

Some will come out. Not many.

Many fantastic players will come out but few will be better than Iheanacho.

See, TheGoodJoe. I know you are saying this all because of ur Love for Iheanacho. I love that guy too but I cannot vouche for him the way you do. I have said this in times past and you guys dnt seem to see reasons with me: I have seen a lot of promising young talents become average as they age. And the ones that were average at a younger age progress better as they age. Not jst only in Nigeria.

I can only pray that he improves as he ages. So many, I mean so many world class players would have emerged in 2 yrs time that fall within the 20-23 yrs bracket that may eclipse Iheanacho. Even among the Nigerian players.

Like when I saw Neymar at sixteen, Robinho travelled to Brazil and Neymar's skills hit. You will know few will be ahead of him.

Until now, I doubt there is any in his set ahead of him.

Remember a young Ronaldinho in 1997 U17 or a young Anelka at Arsenal. A young Ronaldo De Lima. A young Aguero or a young Tevez at Boca Juniors.

Few among their peers surpass them.

There aren't many younsgters with Nacho's Super Hybrid abilities as a #10 and #9 rolled into one who can play AMF, SS, CF, and RWF.

So you're right to say, "I do not see much young players close to Nacho's ability in the future for us to see someone in the market ahead of Nacho."

Yes, more top talents will always emerge. THEY ALWAYS DO. Just like they were all emerging:
- as Messi, who we all knew, went on to "ascend the throne" of world football.

-as Mikel went on to be one of the elite achievers and one of the most decorated African footballers of his generation.

-as Diego Maradona went on to rule his generation after the 1979 Fifa U-20 world cup (then called the Fifa world youth championship) hosted by Japan.

-as Paul Pogba has gone on to be one of the world's most sought-after midfielders @23.

-etc...

Talents will always rise, but also some elite-kind young "super" talents already exist right now that can go on to be at the very top for years to come alongside some of the top talents that will still rise or in some cases, go on and top every other.

Whatever the case is, Iheanacho is in this class and the best part is this: "He knows it and will keep working hard to make it happen".

Wonder why people keep calling this hype. I'm not even a Cityzen... #smiles

I may not have seen many as you but I have watched a lot grow. I watched a young Clarence Seedorf grow until he retired.

I watched a teenage Raul grow until her retired. Is it Crespo or Gallardo or Ariel Ortega.

I have watched Nigerian talents come and go like Tijani Babangida and I have watched brilliance fail like Ikedia.

I am not talking of Iheanacho based on my love for him. It is based on what I expected before he became a Cityzen.

I said, let him join them and let Pellegrini say he is a good player. I Trust Pellegrini's judgment of players. If he says he is good, I trust it.

I was saying this before his heroics with the senior team of City.

U-23 Eagles Seek 3rd Nigeria Win In 12 Matches Against Brazil

The U-23 Eagles of Nigeria will take on Brazil U-23s in an international friendly game on Thursday at Estadio Kleber Andrade, in Cariacica, Espirito Santo. Both teams are preparing for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games men's football event.

This will be the 12th time Brazil and Nigeria will be meeting at any level. Head-to-head at all level of men's football, Brazil have beaten Nigeria seven times in eleven encounters so far. Nigeria have won two, while two games ended in draw.

Ahead of Thursday's 12 clash, Completesportsnigeria.com's JAMES AGBEREBI, takes a look at the 11 previous encounters involving Nigeria and Brazil and how they have fared against each other.

NIGERIA 3-3 BRAZIL (GROUP STAGE, MEXICO CITY 1968 OLYMPICS)

Nigeria's first ever meeting against Brazil in football at any level was at the group stage of the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games.

After losing their first two group games against Japan and Spain- 3-1 and 3-0 respectively- the Nigerian team surprisingly held Brazil to a 3-3 draw in their last game.

Goals from Kenneth Olayombo (brace) and Peter Anieke, gave Nigeria a 3-0 lead in the first half. But Brazil equalised in the second half, following strikes from Ferreti, Tiao and an own goal from Segun Olumodeji.

BRAZIL 3-0 NIGERIA (GROUP STAGE, MEXICO 1983 U-20 W/CUP)

Nigeria and Brazil's path didn't cross again until the fourth edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Mexico, 1983. Both teams were in Group D, along with Netherlands and Soviet Union (Russia).

The Nigerian team opened their campaign with a shock 1-0 win against Soviet Union. But they were brought back to earth in their second game after losing 3-0 to Brazil. Gilmar Popoca, Santos and Geovani, all scored for the Junior Selecao.

A 0-0 draw in their last group game against Netherlands, saw Nigeria crash out of the U-20 World Cup.

BRAZIL 2-0 NIGERIA (S/FINAL, SOVIET UNION 1985 U-20 W/CUP)

At the 1985 U-20 World Cup in the Soviet Union, Nigeria got to the semi-final and came up against defending champions Brazil.

First half goals from Muller and Balalo secured a 2-0 win for Brazil who went on to successfully defend their title.

In the third place match against host Soviet Union, Nigeria won 3-1 on penalty shootout after 120 minutes of football ended 0-0.

BRAZIL 4-0 NIGERIA (GROUP STAGE, CHILE 1987 U-20 W/CUP)

The Nigerian team to the 1987 U-20 World Cup in Chile could be described as one of the best collection of individual talents ever assembled.

With players like Etim Esin, Willy Opara, late Thompson Oliha, Jonathan Akpoborie and Nduka Ugbade, it was expected that the team will surpass its predecessors.

But everything came crashing down when they lost to Brazil 4-0 in their first game of the competition. They eventually got eliminated from the competition – in the group stage, after also losing to Italy and drawing with Canada.

BRAZIL 4-0 NIGERIA (GROUP STAGE, SEOUL 1988 OLYMPICS)

Just like in 1987 in Chile, Nigeria's first game at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games was against Brazil.

It was the second time both countries were meeting at the Olympics. And on parade for Brazil were Romario, Bebeto, Careca and Claudio Taffarel. Brazil made easy work of the Nigerian side, winning 4-0.

Further losses to Yugoslavia and Australia, saw Nigeria crash out, while Brazil made it to the final where they lost 2-1 to Soviet Union.

BRAZIL 1-0 NIGERIA (GROUP STAGE, ATLANTA 1996 OLYMPICS)

For the third time, Nigeria met Brazil at the Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996. Other teams in the group were Hungary and Japan.

Luckily for the Nigerian side, it was a formality game for them as victories against Hungary and Japan, had secured passage into the quarter-finals.

Needing victory to qualify, Brazil won 1-0, thanks to a Ronaldo de Lima first half strike.

NIGERIA 4-3 BRAZIL (S/FINAL, ATLANTA 1996 OLYMPICS)

After losing to Brazil in the group stage, Nigeria finally got their pound of flesh over Brazil for the very first time when they shocked them in the semi-final of the 1996 Olympics.

First half goals from Flavio Conceicao and Bebeto, gave Brazil a 3-1 lead. But Nigeria came back to level up thanks to Victor Ikpeba and a late Nwankwo Kanu goal.

And in first half extra-time, Kanu sealed Nigeria's first ever win against Brazil with a stunning golden goal to end the dramatic tie 4-3.

NIGERIA 0-3 BRAZIL (INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY, 11 June 2003)

A year after winning the FIFA senior World Cup in South Korea/Japan, Brazil met Nigeria in an international friendly game played inside the Abuja National Stadium, commemorating the official opening of the edifice.

Gil, Luis Fabiano and Adriano scored the Samba team's first, second and third goal respectively.

Lineups:

Nigeria – Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Enakhire, Ifeanyi Udeze, Ikpe Ekong(Seyi Olofinjana 77'), Issac Okoronkwo, Romanus Orjinta, Austin Okocha, John Utaka, Yakubu Aiyegbeni(Christian Obodo 47'), Nwankwo Kanu(Chukwudi Nworgu 85'), Garba Lawal.

Brazil – Dida, Beletti (Eduardo Costa 77'), Lucio, Juan(Fabio Luciano 86'), Kleber(Gilberto 81'), Ricardinho, Kleberson, Emerson, Ronaldinho, Ribeiro Goncalves Gil (Carlos Souza Vieira Adriano 73'), Luis Fabiano (striker Adriano 73').

NIGERIA 0-0 BRAZIL (GROUP STAGE, NETHERLANDS 2005 U-20 W/CUP)

At the 2005 U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands, for the first time at any level, Brazil failed to score against a Nigerian team.

Unlike in Chile 1987 and Seoul 1988, where both teams clashed in their first games of the competitions, and Brazil winning 4-0 on both occasions, the Nigerian side held their more illustrious opponent to a 0-0 draw.

And at the end of the competition, Nigeria finished runners-up, losing 2-1 to Argentina in the final. Brazil finished third.

BRAZIL 4-2 NIGERIA (GROUP STAGE, NEW ZEALAND 2015 U-20 W/CUP)

Nigeria scored their first ever goal against Brazil at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, when both teams met in their first game at last year's edition in New Zealand.

Success Isaac, became the first ever Nigerian to score against a Brazilian U-20 side. Musa Yahaya scored Nigeria's second goal.

But inspite of the achievement for the Nigerian side, Brazil won 4-2 and went all the way to the final but lost 2-1 to Serbia.

On their part, the Nigerian team didn't go far as they lost 1-0 to Germany in the round of 16.

NIGERIA 3-0 BRAZIL (Q/FINAL, CHILE 2015 U-17 W/CUP)

Nigeria secured her second ever win against a Brazilian side when they met in the quarter-finals of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

First half goals from Victor Osimhen, Kingsley Michael and Udochukwu Anumudu, sealed a 3-0 win for the Golden Eaglets.

The coach Emmanuel Amuneke-led side went on to win the competition and claimed Nigeria's fifth U-17 world title.

Enugu Rangers glovesman Emmanuel Daniel is expected to resume training with the Nigeria U23s on Wednesday night after he failed to complete Tuesday evening’s session due to an undisclosed ailment.

The shot-stopper was involved in full training with the squad on Tuesday morning and was training with the team in the evening before he went out, complaining of discomfort.

Alhaji Gero Hoping To Learn Something New Today From Everton

Former Flying Eagles striker Alhaji Gero has arrived in Liverpool with the östersunds FK squad ahead of Wednesday afternoon’s friendly against English Premier League side Everton.

Ahead of the start of the new season on Saturday April 2, Gero has posited that the test game will prepare the team adequately before they take on Hammarby.

“I am looking forward to meet Everton and to maybe learn something from them,” Gero said to allnigeriasoccer.com.

“I am ready to fight for my team as with any other games we have. We need to see this as any other game we have and not for who they are.

“ Everton have experienced players and it is a good test game for us to play against them.”

Gero penned a three-year contract with östersunds FK in January 2016 and scored on his debut against Levanger FK few days after he was unveiled.

EXCLUSIVE: EMMANUEL DANIEL MISSES U-23 TRAINING

The first choice net minder of the Nigeria U-23 Emmanuel Daniel was unable to train with the rest of the team yesterday no thanks to a throat infection.

Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent in Brazil said the shot stopper is however not in danger of missing tomorrow’s friendly against their Brazilian counterparts.

22 year old Daniel was the hero for Nigeria at the U-23 AFCON saving penalties in the quarterfinals and semifinals tie and for the majority of the tournament was Nigeria’s best player.

Yusuf Mohammed the other goalkepper in camp who plays for Kano Pillars trained normally with the team and if Daniel fails to make it for the game.

U-23 VS BRAZIL: AWONIYI,OSIMHEN,AJAYI,SOLOMON IN CONTENTION TO START

The quartet of Taiwo Awoniyi,Victor Osimhen,Junior Ajayi and Theophilus Solomon are presently in a battle for a starting spot in Nigeria’s U-23 attack for the friendly game against Brazil.

The duo of Victor Osimhen and Taiwo Awoniyi were paired as strikers in one of the teams during yesterday training game while Junior Ajayi and Theophilus Solomon attacked for the other team.

Although it ended 0-0 the quartet put in a performance that showed their willingness to battle for a shirt in the game against Brazil.

While Osimhen and Taiwo remain the favourites to start the duo of Ajayi and Solomon showed a lot to suggest they might get the nod ahead of the earlier mentioned duo.

Ajayi and Solomon combined nicely on several occasion and were more mobile in making runs behind the defence but the combo of Awoniyi and Osimhen were more reliant on balls from the flanks or through the middle.

Their form should be a pleasant worry for the coach when he names his squad for the Thursday game.

None of this quartet would make my top 5 U23 Centre Forwards rating.

I am not sure. However, I see Iheanacho being a regular player as a Cityzen two years from now. I see Iwobi a regular at Arsenal two years from now. That is, if they do not sell him.

Baring any injuries or dip in form.Always remember that.

Oloro ni igor talo ni ke waja. Igor is poison who compelled you to come and fight. That was what the program song was changed to. There was a flamboyant guy we bastardized his name to micho a, then the 3 brothers.
Poverty is bad, our house didn't even have light let alone TV. Things had taken a very bad turn. I remember listening to the Daman miracle on radio, that was some crazy match. Before you finish jubilating, another goal is in.

I didn't start fully watching matches again until the 94 nations cup, there were more pressing daily survival matters to attend to.

Lazio’s Anderson, Monaco Duo To Start Vs U-23 Eagles; United, Barca Stars Benched

By James Agberebi:

SS Lazio’s Felipe Anderson and Monaco duo, Fabinho and Wallace, are expected to be in Brazil’s starting 11 who will face Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles in an international friendly match on Thursday night.

According to feelers from Brazil, Ederson from Benfica, Santos duo Gabigol and Thiago Maia are also expected to be in the line-up.

If this line-up is the one used, that means there is no place for Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira and Barcelona’s recovering Rafinha.

The game will take place in Cariacica, Brazil at 11pm Nigerian time.

This will be the first time since Atlanta 1996 that the U-23 Eagles and Brazil will be facing each other.

Brazil’s expected 11 against the U-23 Eagles:

Ederson (Benfica) Fabinho (Monaco) Wallace (Monaco) Rodrigo Caio (Sao Paolo) Douglas Santos (Atletico Mineiro) Thiago Maia (Santos), Rodrigo Dourado (Internacional), Felipe Anderson (Lazio) Alisson (Cruzeiro) Gabriel Jesus (Palmeiras) Gabigol (Santos)
