Yes son,I do know that you can count the viable commercial airlines with the fingers of one hand.
I know that those who are still in operation are doing so under heavy debt profile that occassionally require bail out funds.
I know that a few who had dared venture into this sector have packed up.
I know that there are more private and chartered airlines now than commercial ones.
Son,I know that most who have left complained of so much beaurecracy and high powered extortion from the regulatory bodies like faan, nama, ncaa etc which occassionally has caused friction between the management of the airlines and the regulators.
I know that these issues has led to a very few airlines like arik now catering for the teeming population of air passengers.
Son,you and I know that if we could boast of just 10viable commercial airlines, this rush won't be there on a single airline.
One would have hoped that the minister who covers the aviation sector would sit to discuss with the players and operators on how to open up the opportunities for more commercial airlines and hopefully reduce or even squash the extortions faced by the players at the hands of the regulators.
Son,as I speak to you, there are many private aviation companies rendering skeletal auxilliary services waiting for the enabling environment to expand(via international partners or local funding) their services to commercial airlifting.
So you see son,I know enough to know that if the minister will sit down to work and look for how to create the enabling environment, there won't be this run on a single flight.
Son,I know enough cos we too lie in wait to invest. We pray and hope the sector experiences life. Until then, our group plays in other sectors.
Have a nice day.

I just love your response. Very cool, calm and collected and it's commendable cos some of these kids on NL can try the patience of a saint.

H.E, i asked you if you knew about FLIGHT OPERATIONS not what you are saying. Good you have mention these and if you were quick to point these out, then you should be able to understand that there are no quick fixes to these - Challenges in the Industry, and that they transcend "sitting down". Unfortunately, they are not the same as flight operations ....when next you go to the airport, perhaps you could chat with an ops officer or duty manager to understand better the various "delays" that can be associated with a scheduled flight.

Finally this response is more issue oriented, dropping of the political colouration of the first -- #Better

Cheers

Arik is officially the most Useless Airline in Nigeria..

Arik is useless after 7am flight. If you miss it, you are done for.

I will never ever spend my money on an Arik ticket ever. I would rather fly DANA.

Arik air will delay your flight and still be rude towards you when you complain.

The owner should be investigated for money laundering because I don't see why that airline is still in business if they ate not using it to launder money.

A 1.30pm Arik flight arrived by 2:30am the next day..

Amaechi must do something about the rate of delayed flights in our Airports. The economic loss these delays cause can't be quantified.

I have never used Arik and never will.

All I hear is complaint so I rather pay more to get proper service.

Arik is probably owned by the same thieves that wrecked this country.

According to Okemini Otum, a www.metronaija.com reader, angry passengers who were billed to fly Arik Air into Lagos but were delayed for 6 hours due to an overbooked plane, rushed into the next Arik plane that arrived the airport and didn't care if it was their scheduled plane or not. See more photos of the angry passengers after the cut...

For once...it is the fault of the airline.

You leave passengers hanging for six hours...no explanation,no rescheduling.

Arik air better improve.

...and who is to call them to order? The "busy minister "

Overbooked? Only in Nigeria

It's not only in Nigeria, airlines in countries like the U.S. overbook as well particularly for domestic flights.

I think you're the dullard here.. He said "the minister under whose portfolio lies", Amaechi is the minister of what? The current minister of state of Aviation is under which ministry? Who heads the ministry? When you figure the answer out, come back on here and tell us.
