I don't know if anyone noticed this:

While Egypt celebrated their equaliser, El-shennawy, their goalkeeper performed a "rude" gesture. He brought his right/left hand to his throat and did the "slicing" move (like he was slicing a ram by the throat with a knife. He did this while facing the fans behind his goal)... His gesture showed gross rudeness (Djilobodji got banned for two games for similar act/gesture in the Bundesliga). So we don die abi? That's what he was implying? Make tuesday come first. They better be ready for war.... There's a reason why some things just can't be scripted. Some moments that will still take place....

I'm still wondering what he went down for cos he got up by himself and didn't need medical attention.

He was the root cause of the equalizer by Egypt.

Mikel: Egypt Didn’t Play Fair Against Super Eagles

Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, blamed ill- luck and
the failure of the Egyptians to adhere strictly to the
rules of the game as the main reason why the Super
Eagles failed to record a win in Friday's 2017 Africa
Cup of Nations qualifier against the Pharaohs,
reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Super Eagles were heading for a 1-0 win against
the North Africans before Mohamed Salah put his
side level late in the game.

The Chelsea midfielder told Completesportsnigeria.com said he and his team-mates expected the Egyptians to give the ball back to
them after it was kicked out to allow one of the
players recover from an injury.

He however expressed confidence they will beat their opponent next Tuesday in Alexandria.

"We feel cheated with the way the Egyptians scored
their goal," a visibly disappointed Mikel told
Completesportsnigeria.com after the game.

"We expected them to give the ball back to us after
one of my team mates kicked it out to enable the
referee attend to attend to the injured player, but
instead they went on with play and scored.

"Even though it hurts a lot, there is a lot to play in the group. We believe we can beat them in Alexandria and that is what we are doing to do.

"I love the atmosphere in camp as everyone is
determined to see us qualify for the next AFCON. We
will fight till the end to ensure we achieve that
objective."

NIGERIA FACE CAF AXE FOR OVERCROWDING AT
AFCON CLASH

NFF president Pinnick

Nigeria are likely to be sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for allowing
for overcrowding at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in
Kaduna during a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Egypt.

The 25,000-capacity Ahmadu Bello Stadium, which
was built in 1964, overflowed with more than 40,000
spectators after host Kaduna State government threw open the gates for the fans to watch the game free of charge.

Hundreds of fans stood on the stadium's athletics
tracks to watch the match, while the stands were
packed to the seams.

“Nigeria will most likely be penalised by CAF for this
poor crowd control even though there was no major
incident before, during and after the match,” said a
worried top official.

“Sanctions for such a shortcoming would be a fine
and a warning.”

Another official said the police failed to stop the
crowd from gaining access to the stadium even when it was clear the arena’s capacity was already
overstretched.

In 2009, poor crowd control caused the death of 19
people before a 2010 World Cup qualifier between
hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Malawi.

Investigations said ticketless fans were to blame or
the stampede and Ivorian FA were fined $47,000 by
FIFA.

A stampede at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana in 2001 caused the death of 127 people.

TheGoodJoe, have you seen any of Awaziem's games. Full live match, nt youtube highlights.

What if i tell u dat d adventures embarked upon by Ambrose today were assigned to him by Siasia.

I have watched him play and he is better than Efe. Efe and Oboabana are not the same players that played in the nations cup.

Nigeria has better defenders than the ones, we are playing. I have mentioned this before. Awaziem is an excellent passer of the ball from defense, strong and reads the game well. He is probably Porto's best defender at the moment. There is no way, that he is not good enough for Nigeria when we are parading Efe. Players like Otigba will also do great.

Error-prone players that are not playing regularly can not be our best.

If CAF Where a serious minded entity, it would have suspended or disciplined the Egyptian Referee that officiated one of our group matches during the 2013 AFCON. What about Elneny's reaction to the Referee yesterday, when the referee ended the game. Am very sure, Elneny can't try thay shiiiiiiit in England.
The NFF Discipinary Committe will not look into these issues raised, all they know is how to owe national team Coaches' allowances, badmouth Coaches that refuse to dance to their tune and look for loopholes to mishandle tax payers money.
Am yet to absolve myself of yesterday's shock. Though Salah's goal was an offside though.

I agree with Mikel that fair play is fair play but i am at peace with yesterday's outcome. If we had won that match i think we would have gone on to be trashed in Egypt. The result would have just been a cover up for alot of things that went wrong. Now we can see ourselves for what we really are. I know the players will be extra motivated and charged up for revenge. Winning in Egypt would be the ultimate revenge. Winning in Egypt could kick start our comeback to the top of African and world football. This match along with it's stakes just got even bigger and now it is personal.

FAMILIAR SIASIA FOIBLES LEAVE NIGERIA ON THE BRINK
...................................................................................
The decision by the interim Super Eagles coach to
pursue an ultra-attacking strategy saw his team hit by a sucker punch, a sadly recurrent theme throughout his managerial career.
...................................................................................
COMMENT By Solace Chukwu

We know a number of things, both about the Super
Eagles and Samson Siasia. Some are palatable, some unsavoury.
Mohamed Salah’s calm finish, with three minutes left to play, was such a bitter pill to swallow though, mostly because it shook an entire nation out of mass hypnosis.

Against hope, it was convenient to believe that time
had tempered the ability of Siasia’s teams to suffer
moments of total implosion, that the flurry of
attacking blows would not subside to reveal a soft
underbelly.

In the end, it was Abdullahi Shehu, again reprising
his role as a (non) full-back and somnolent, who
failed to step out with the rest of the defence.

Fitting, one might say. Almost poetic, the inevitability of it all.
As expected, the Super Eagles produced some
moments of sheer inspiration, especially following a
tentative first half.

It would not be a Siasia team if they did not.

Oghenekaro Etebo scuffed in a rebound from Kelechi Iheanacho’s intelligent dink, which rattled the woodwork, to open the scoring just as the team
began to click through the gears.

Nigeria 1-1 Egypt: Salah snatches vital stoppage-
time point https:///XFbjRYnyFF pic.twitter.com/

— Goal.com Nigeria (@GoalcomNigeria) March

That it was the former Warri Wolves man, improbably tasked with partnering new captain John
Obi Mikel in midfield, who was farthest forward in
the move was a consideration pushed to the back of
overjoyed minds.

He (Etebo) endured a mixed bag of a game, impeding the build-up time and again, and then just about doing enough to put off Ahmed Hassan 'Koka' as the Pharaohs fashioned the game’s best chance in the opening period.

What was abundantly clear, both before and on the
evidence of the game, is that as a midfield pairing,
Mikel-Etebo lacked the ability to effectively control a
game or effect proper build-up.

The latter, a vertical, head-down charging bull of a footballer, is entirely out of place in a double-pivot, and it showed.

With Mikel tightly marshalled, the team struggled to
get the ball forward to Iheanacho between the lines.

The Manchester City man, making his first international start, was largely ineffectual, stuck in a
halfway house, neither midfielder nor forward in the
first half.
He was then withdrawn following his contribution to the opening goal, just when he looked to be growing into proceedings, a substitution which
proved purely cosmetic—Aminu Umar was busy
rather than decisive, and it took away the option to
make a defensive sub later on as the team began to
tire.

If there is any consolation to be had, it is that it is a
result that did not see the Super Eagles lose ground.

A win in Alexandria in four days is doable, as well as imperative: this is not the fabled Egypt team of the noughties that toted up seven continental titles,
though admittedly the likes of Salah carry significant
threat.

It is also imperative, not only in order to leapfrog
Egypt, but to ward off the attentions of the climbing
Tanzania, who are now breathing down Nigeria’s
neck. One point off the Super Eagles, and with a very
winnable return leg against Chad in Dar Es Salam, it
is not inconceivable that by the end of the March
fixtures, there could be a new frontrunner for second place in the group.

To fail once at a task is a travesty, but to have his
name associated twice with failing to qualify for the
Africa Cup of Nations would be impossible to live
down for Siasia.

Far more than Nigeria’s Afcon hopes, it is his legacy that is at stake: the nearly-man of Nigerian football, seemingly doomed eternally to fall just short, will hope he can finally see the challenge through to a satisfactory end.

Siasia Slams Super Eagles Defenders For Egypt Equaliser

By Johnny Edward in Kaduna
Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has blamed his defenders for the last-gasp equaliser his team conceded against Egypt in Friday's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier here in Kaduna.

He also slammed the Egyptian players for not playing to the rules of the game. The Super Eagles ‎were three minutes away from earning their first victory under Siasia but were denied by Mohamed Salah who was played onside by Godfrey Oboabona.

Siasia who‎se side now face a daunting task in the reverse fixture in Alexandra believes his side can still win. 'You don't leave a dangerous player like Salah alone," a frustrated Siasia told reporters moments after the 1-1 draw.

‎"I blame the defenders for their play. You don't lose concentration in the dying seconds of the game. "

Also the Egyptians were guilty of not playing to the rules. "It was fair play and ‎felt they should have abided by it."

Ighalo: Nigeria’s AFCON Hopes Not Lost Yet

By Johnny Edward In Kaduna:
Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, says Nigeria's hopes of qualifying for 2017 AFCON are not lost yet after their 1-1 draw with Egypt in Friday’s first leg encounter in Kaduna, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.

The Watford of England forward who reacted shortly after the first leg match said if the Pharaohs of Egypt could pick a draw here in Nigeria, the Super Eagles can as well go to Alexandra to pick a win.

Ighalo who scored the second goal in the Super Eagles 2-0 win over Chad in the Match Day One of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, says it was painful allowing the Egyptians to share points with Nigeria in the match.

“We did not do badly, we gave our best, and you can see that from the way we played the match, but we were very unlucky to have ended the match 1-1,” says the Watford striker.

Ighalo adds: “Despite this result, I don’t want to believe that we are out yet. We are going to learn from this match and improved on that in the second leg in Alexandra. The hope of qualifying is still very much alive."

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are expected to depart the country’s shores on Monday for the return leg match scheduled for Tuesday in Alexandria.

Egypt Call Up Goalkeeper To Replace El-Hadary

By Adeboye Amosu:
Egypt have called-up Ali Lofti as replacement for the injured veteran goalkeeper, Essam El- Hadary, ahead of the second leg of their 2017 Africa Cup of Nation qualifying tie against Nigeria, reports Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

El-Hadary sustained a muscle injury during the Pharaohs' first training session at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Thursday which effectively ruled him out the game against the Super Eagles.

The 26-year-old Lofti made his debut for the North Africans in a friendly game against Malawi in June 2015.

The Pharaohs maintained top position in Group G after a late Mohamed Salah strike earned them a share of the spoils against the Eagles.

How Super Eagles Rated Vs Egypt

Comple tesportsnigeria.com's ADEBOYE AMOSU rates the Super Eagles after their 1-1 draw with Egypt in Kaduna…

Carl Ikeme 6/10
The Wolves goalkeeper made a brilliant save to deny Koka in the 18th minute. He was not at fault for the Pharaohs' equalising goal.

Stanley Amuzie 4/10
The left-back struggled to cope with the pace of Mohamed Salah and was the weakest link in Nigeria's defence.

GODFREY OBOABONA 6/10
Did well to curtail the Egyptian attackers until that unfortunate late minute strike by Mohamed Salah.

EFE AMBROSE 6/10
The Celtic defender did his defensive job well, though he was bit sloppy at times. He improved like the rest of the team in the second half.

SHEHU ABDULLAHI 5/10
An average performance from the right-back. He was a constant threat on the right side for Nigeria, but his final delivery was most times awful.

OGHENEKARO ETEBO 8/10
Played in an unfamiliar holding midfield role and put up a good showing in his debut appearance for the Super Eagles. He scored his side's only goal in the game.

KELECHI IHEANACHO 5/10
A subdued performance from the Manchester City youngster in what was his first start for the Super Eagles. Had a hand in Nigeria's only goal in the game though.

MIKEL OBI 6/10
Improved like the rest of the team after break and gave an above average performance in his first game as captain of the side.

AHMED MUSA 5/10
Started the game brightly, but fizzled out afterwards. He was duly replaced by Victor Moses in the second half.

MOSES SIMON 7/10
The Belgium-based winger was Nigeria's most potent attacking threat in the game. Contender for man of the match.

ODION IGHALO 5/10
The Watford forward was far from his best in the game. He missed a good chance to put his side ahead a minute before the break and was denied by the opposing goalkeeper in the second half.

SUBSTITUTES
AMINU UMAR 6/10
Took the place of Kelechi Iheanacho. He was lively when he came on and will surely push for a starting berth in the return fixture.

VICTOR MOSES 6/10
The pacy winger had a goal bound effort cleared off the line few minutes after replacing Ahmed Musa and troubled the Pharaohs's defence for the entire period he spent on the pitch.

ALEX IWOBI 4/10
The youngster proved his class after coming on late in the game. He is surely one for the future.

Who made this rating? Iheanacho gets five despite his work rate to keep the team in the game. Nacho dropped deep repeatedly to give the midfield fluidity. He had a short on target in the first half. He also had a hand in the goal we scored.

The Moses gets 6 for missing a great chance created by Iwobi who gets 4.

Competitive Nigeria Debut Excites Iwobi, Moses Rues Egypt Draw

Alex Iwobi is delighted to have played his first competitive game for Nigeria, just as Victor Moses was left sad by Friday’s draw with Egypt, reports Comple tesportsnigeria.com.

The 19-year-old Iwobi came in for Moses Simon in the closing stages of Nigeria’s 1-1 home draw against Egypt at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Friday.

Even though the result puts the Super Eagles in danger of missing out on the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Gabon, the Arsenal winger was really elated to take part in the game.

“Unlucky not to win but happy to have made my competitive debut for Nigeria,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

“Would like to also thank England for giving me the chance to represent them.”

Meanwhile, Moses tweeted his frustration after the match. The West Ham forward who had a shot cleared off the line wrote: “Shame we couldn’t get the win today but the boys battled hard and we move on to Tuesday now.”

Nigeria will take on Egypt in the reverse fixture next week Tuesday in Alexandria.

The Super Eagles need to win the game to boost their chances of making it to Gabon 2017.

It ain't fair but someone has to say it.

Victor Moses, you have joined Yak Attack (Yakubu) in the list of memorable misses.

That Iwobi's pass is what we call a goal pass. How did you miss it?

I'd rather go with Goal Nigeria's player ratings for the same game. OwngoalNigeria were lenient with the ratings but did okay but Goal Nigeria was spot on.

-Giving Amuzie 4/10 when he did good (above average) is nonsense!!!

-Giving Etebo 8/10 is also wrong. Etebo wasn't our best man on the day. At times, he was also bereft of ideas on how to link up with Nacho. His slow build-up plays with Mikel really choked Nacho in that first half display. They didn't bring Nacho into play which was part of why Nacho went into "ghost mode" for most of the first half. Etebo should have a 5 or 6.

-Giving Ambrose 6/10?? Na wa ooo.... This Adeboye Amosu sef.... Wetin be him own? I don commot... #smiles

Parting shot:
Was it not the same Complete sports that published that nonsense about Nigeria's U-23's journey of doom saying we were likely going to be raped/thrashed by the brazillians because we were going with an experimental "yet talented" squad ??(It was still a talented squad... They forgot what fine talents can achieve sometimes against odds even though in the long-run, Talent is never enough)

CompleteSportsNigeria... Abeg park well.
