Chelsea Loanee Moses : The Boys Battled Hard

The Super Eagles missed the opportunity to go top of their group in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers after surrendering a 1-0 lead at home to Egypt on Friday evening.

Chelsea loanee Victor Moses was disappointed with the result but reckoned that the team gave it their all and will go full blast on Tuesday in the reverse fixture.

“Shame we couldn’t get the win today but the boys battled hard and we move on to Tuesday now,”Moses tweeted.

Moses, a former England youth-teamer, earned his 25th camp for Nigeria when he came on for Ahmed Musa in the 71st minute.

Oghenekaro Etebo Delighted To Score On Nigeria Debut

Ex-Warri Wolves star Oghenekaro Etebo was a surprise inclusion in the Super Eagles starting line-up against Egypt on Friday evening and repaid manager Samson Siasia’s faith by scoring on his competitive debut for the national team.

The new Clube Desportivo de Feirense acquisition was disappointed with the way the game panned out at the end, with Roma sensation Salah notching a late, late equalizer to give the Pharaohs a share of the spoils.

“I return all glory to God for my first senior international goal for the Nigeria Super Eagles, though the game ended 1-1.

“With God’shelp we will complete the task in Egypt,” Oghenekaro Etebo said.

Etebo has other things to worry about after the reverse fixture in Alexandria this coming Tuesday, with the attacking midfielder yet to resume training with Clube Desportivo de Feirense two months after agreeing terms with the Portuguese setup.

The 20-year-old is still processing his work permit visa to Portugal and was asked by the embassy to provide an additional document on Thursday, March 24.

Because of the public holidays, the visa could be ready by next week .

Egypt Coach Cuper : Nigeria Has Excellent Players, We Were Lucky To Get An Equalizer

Egypt National Team coach Héctor Cúper has admitted that his team were lucky to avoid defeat against Nigeria in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday.

The former Inter Milan and Valencia manager added that the Pharaohs were not on the same level as the Super Eagles especially in the second half.

“Nigeria is very strong and has excellent players in all of the positions, they are in the big clubs who are playing in Europe,” Cuper told reporters.

“We had a wonderful first half but in the second half we made some mistakes and we were not on the same level but we will work to correct the errors before the next game.

“I do not deny that we were lucky to get an equalizer but it was a reward for our performance throughout the game.”

The Super Eagles will fly to Egypt on Monday for the return leg of the African Cup of Nations qualifier on March 29.

Super Eagles Will Fly To Egypt Via Chartered Flight; 20,000 Fans Ready To Boo Team

The Super Eagles will fly to Alexandria for the return leg of their African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Pharaohs aboard a chartered flight.

Days leading up to the clash in Kaduna, the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, had stated that the national team will fly to Cairo using Egypt Air due to cost cutting measures they are presently employing.

“Our travel plans to Alexandria, Egypt have been modified. We’ll now travel via chartered flight from Abuja Monday.
“Thanks for your support,” the Nigeria Football Federation stated.

More than 40,000 spectators witnessed the encounter at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Friday evening but it is envisaged that 20,000 Egyptian fans will be permitted into the Borg El Arab Stadium on Tuesday.

The FA had written to the government to increase the number from 10,000 to 20,000 and the request was approved.

Super Eagles Will Go For The Jugular In Reverse Fixture

The Super Eagles have declared that they are disappointed with the outcome of the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt and have vowed to pick up the maximum points in the reverse fixture in Alexandria in three days time.

The Samson Siasia-led side wasted an excellent opportunity to overtake the North Africans in the standings after Mohamed Salah scored in the closing minutes due to a lack of concentration in the defense.

“We’re disappointed with the draw but our heads are unbowed. We’ll storm Alexandria, Egypt in high spirits.

“With your support, we’ll triumph,” the Super Eagles said in a statement.

After three rounds in Group G of African Cup of Nations qualification, Egypt lead the way with seven points followed by Nigeria who have garnered five points.

Manchester City Hail Impressive Iheanacho After Full Debut For Nigeria

English Premier League club Manchester City monitored the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Egypt on Friday evening.

Their highly-rated striker Kelechi Iheanacho made his first-ever start for the Super Eagles, lasting 64 minutes on the pitch before he was replaced byOsmanlıspor frontman Aminu Umar.

The Super Eagles went in front on the hour mark courtesy of Oghenekaro Etebo, who scrambled home a rebound after Iheanacho had hit the woodwork.

“Impressive @67Kelechi played just over an hour as Mohamed Salah’s late goal for Egypt meant it finished 1-1 in Nigeria. #AFCON2017,” City posted on their official Twitter page.

Iheanacho has two caps for the senior national team, having made his official debut, off the bench, in a World Cup qualifier against Swaziland last November.

Why Egypt Boycotted Post Match Press Conference

Egyptian Football Association member Ehab Hath has explained why the Pharaohs boycotted the mandatory press conference after their 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles in Kaduna.

Hath was agitated that the Zambian referee denied the Egyptians the chance to snatch a late winner after he blew the final whistle while the team was in possession.

“The rule is wrong and it was possible to come up with the winner , do not know why his decisions were counterproductive,”said Hath to filgoal.com.

“There are no sanctions against Egypt because of failure to attend the press conference and the observer agreed, that our security could not be guaranteed in light of the spectators that stormed the pitch after the game.”

More than 40,000 spectators witnessed the game between Nigeria and Egypt at theAhmadu Bello Stadium, which has a capacity of 25,000.

SIASIA: WE DIDN’T CAP IWOBI TO STOP HIM FROM PLAYING FOR ENGLAND

Interim coach of the Super Eagles Samson Siasia says Nigeria did not cap Alex Iwobi because of the pressure by England for him to switch allegiance to them.

The last few weeks they have been reports that England are trying to lure Iwobi to play for the three lions instead of Nigeria at senior level after his breakthrough at Arsenal this season.

Iwobi who has played for Nigeria in a friendly game was eligible for England until after today’s AFCON 2017 qualifiers where the 19 year old came on as a substitute canceling any hope England has in regards to luring him.

“We didn’t cap him because of the pressure on him to switch allegiance to England, we did so because we are convinced he can effect the game and he almost did with that pass to Moses that was cleared of the line” He said in his post match conference.

HOW NFF PRESIDENT PREVENTED STAMPEDE AT THE AHMADU BELLO STADIUM

Much have been said about the capacity crowd at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium that watched Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Egypt with the only omission being the efforts of the president of the NFF to control the crowd which went a long way in preventing any form of chaos or stampede.

Amaju Pinnick came into the stadium one hour to the game but instead of taking his seat in the VIP section the NFF supremo headed straight to the fans gathered on the athletic track of the stadium in front of the perimeter fencing.

The Stadium which originally seats 25,000 had about 50,000 people in attendance and Pinnick showed his crowd control skills by pleading and even knelling to the fans to move backward which they did as oppose to the use of force the security operatives were earlier using to no avail.

Pinnick didn’t stop there he ensured the standing crowd were barricaded by security operatives to stop them from going close to the substitute bench of the Egyptians and his smart appeal to those who have no seat and where to stand bar the stadium track made them walk out of the stadium.

After the game he also ensured they were easily safely and gently vacated from the stadium and once again not with force which would have brought out some resistance but with cajoling and pep talks.

His use of words and not force went a long way in keeping the capacity crowd calm before, during and after the game.

PINNICK: EAGLES WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY IN KADUNA

President of Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick says the Super Eagles of Nigeria will continue to play their home games at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium as a reward for the passion of the fans.

Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com after the game that saw over 40,000 fans inside the 25,000 capacity stadium, Pinnick played down the stretching of the stadium’s capacity.

“I want to pay special tribute to the Kaduna state fans, they are passionate and a proof that our football is still alive, we spoke to them and they promised they won’t encroach during the game and true to their words they didn’t” He said.

“As long as there’s no encroachment during and immediately after the game I don’t see any reason why we making a meal out of it, Kaduna is our home, Eagles will come back here”.

Nigeria travel to Egypt on Monday for their Tuesday game against Egypt in Alexandria after the disappointment of failing to pick all three points in Kaduna they need to avoid defeat.

You have two fantastic facilities in Port-Harcourt and Uyo. When our Home based Eagles played Ghana U23 team, the Uyo people filled the stadium.

Can Port-Harcourt ever have empty seats?

Look for a better excuse Pinnick or tell a better lie. Did he not see Musa trip when he was on the run because of the pitch? Can he compare the Kaduna pitch to Port-Harcourt and Uyo pitches. Ridiculous.

NIGERIA VS EGYPT: 10 THINGS WE LEARNT

Kelechi Iheanacho of Nigeria challenges Ibrahim Sallah of Egypt during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier match between Nigeria v Egypt on March,25th,2016 at Ahmadu Bello Stadium,Kaduna ©Kabiru Abubakar/Backpagepix

Finally it has come and gone. The much anticipated
AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and Egypt ended
1-1. Oghenekaro Etebo’s 60th minute goal seemed to
have secured all three points till Mohammed Salah
struck in stoppage time.

Here are 10 things we learnt…

(1)SIASIA SHOULD MIX IT!
Critics of the Sunday Oliseh era opined that the team were boring. They rarely created goal-scoring
opportunities. At a point, NFF president Amaju
Pinnick mooted the idea of hiring an attacking coach
to help the team’s progression to the final third.

Siasia’s plus is that his teams create chances for fun. They score many goals, but also have difficulties
keeping things tight at the back. It is more like he
entirely neglects the defensive aspect of the game. If
he had struck a balance between attacking and
securing the one goal lead on Friday, the result could have been different. Even with a vital victory few minutes away, the boys were still pouring forward as if they were trailing. Caution would have been the watchword at that point.

(2) IWOBI MUSTN’T HAVE PLAYED
I understand the need to have Alex Iwobi feature in a competitive game for Nigeria and ward off England’s advances, but that shouldn’t have been at the expense of the three points. This was a Grade A
competitive fixture and not some friendly. Some
coaches would prefer to start the game with Iwobi
and substitute him according to the progression of
the game. If you planned to introduce him from the
bench, the flow of the game might create no need for him. That was the case in this match. Iwobi’s
competitive debut would have been delayed till the
Alexandria reverse fixture, where he would have
been handed a starting shirt.

(3) SHOULD HAVE BEEN AZUBUIKE, NOT IWOBI

At the point Iwobi was introduced, the ideal player to have come off the bench was Azubuike Okechukwu.

Siasia needed more bodies in the middle of the pack and ‘Zuby’ would have kept things tighter alongside Mikel Obi and Etebo. There were many offensive players in that team to guarantee safety.

(4) YES, THESE EAGLES CAN SCORE GOALS IN
ALEXANDRIA

One thing that abounds in this team are goal threats.

The mobility is heartwarming, a vintage Siasia team.
In a game the team must win, you can be sure they
will score. The team have the potentials to score as
many as are needed, but I can’t guarantee their
protecting the lead. A team who parade Odion Ighalo, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho can score goals
anywhere on the continent. And when they are under Siasia’s tutelage, he knows how to squeeze out goals from rocks.

(5) FOR ALEXANDRIA, ELDERSON SHOULD STEP IN

Make no mistakes, I have high regards for Stanley
Amuzie. I have been following his career for some
time and I think he is a long-term option at left back,
but this game may have come too soon after his
long-term injury. He had a torrid time against Egypt’s Salah and was the biggest culprit for the Egyptian goal. The more experienced Elderson Echiejile should step in in Alexandria. It will be a more grueling duel.

(6) AMBROSE’S BALL-HANDLING DEFFICIENCIES

How many times was Efe Ambrose caught in
possession unnecessarily? He has the penchant to
initiate attack from defense. Laudable as that is, one
should be well equipped to do so. He lacks the
finesse and his pass accuracy is low consequently he puts more pressure on the defence. He should be
advised to keep it simple and not go beyond his
abilities. Some of those let-off that the Egyptians did
not capitalise on will not go unpunished in
Alexandria.

(7)CONFIRMED! WE HAVE PROBLEMS AT RIGHT
BACK!!

Gradually, the right back has become a problematic
position in the national team. From Efe Ambrose to
Solomon Kwambe, Leon Balogun and now Shehu
Abdullahi we have been unable to get a modern-day
full back who can initiate attack with ease. Given
Siasia’s offensive disposition, he will make do with
some flying wing backs. I will recommend former
U20 captain Musa Mohammed and Wikki Tourists’
captain Mustapha Ibrahim. This embarrassment has
to end. Is this not the same country who once
paraded the likes of Yisa Shofoluwe and Mobi
Oparaku at right back?

(cool SIASIA SHOULD GO TO ALEXANDRIA HEARING
ECHOES OF GUINEA.

The battle of Alexandria will be won from the bench, not merely by talent. Siasia has an embarrassing array of talented young players, but how he deploys them will be key.
While he can be rest assured that the goals will surely come, there is also need for caution.
I will suggest a midfield trio of Mikel, Etebo
and Okechukwu to shield a suspect back four.

The goals will come, but it will be difficult chasing the game. By all means possible, the momentum should always be on Nigeria’s side. He should take a cue from the Guinea game that cost Nigeria AFCON ticket in 2011 with him at the helm.

On #8 above, T.Supernerd says: I think he forgot Onazi is available for the alexandria game. #smiles

(9) ETEBO DIDN’T FAIL SIASIA

Siasia fielded Etebo because of his goal-scoring
prowess from the midfield. The boy didn’t fail. Always having that eye for goals, he had no business being at that spot where he pounced on the rebound to score.

That is a centre-forward’s position. If Okechukwu
starts in Alexandria, Etebo should play a more
advanced role. While being so useful in the attacking
third, he helps keep the team’s shape in the middle of the pack.

(10) IGHALO’S STRUGGLES IN THE NATIONAL TEAM

Odion Ighalo is yet to hit that rich vein of form in the national team. We know he is also struggling for
goals at club level but even when he was scoring
for fun at Watford, he never replicated that in the
Super Eagles.
Somehow, the coaches have not found
the right combo that will get him firing in the green
and white colours. A big worry for Siasia.

Victor Moses, you have joined Yak Attack (Yakubu) in the list of memorable misses.

That Iwobi's pass is what we call a goal pass. How did you miss it?

I can't compare the two. Yak's shot was not on target, Moses was not to blame it was great hussle from the Egyptian. It would have been the same thing if a defender had caught up to Etebo's shot.

Mikel: Nigeria must qualify for AFCON

Chelsea star Mikel Obi has charged the Super Eagles to give everything when they face Egypt for the second time in four days in Alexandria in their quest to qualify Nigeria for next year’s AFCON in Gabon.

Egypt remain remain top of their qualifying group with seven points, two points more than Nigeria, after a 1-1 draw in Kaduna on Friday in Kaduna.

Nigeria captain Mikel said the Eagles have to fight harder than they have ever done to snatch the three points at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in the Mediterranean coast.

“It’s a massive battle that we are going for, and there should be no illusion about it. We have to face reality, and everyone has to give more than 100 per cent because we just have to qualify for the Cup of Nations,” said Obi, one of Nigeria’s outstanding players when they won the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa three years ago.

The midfield enforcer insisted there was no reason to panic following Friday’s draw, and pointed to the fact that there are still three more matches left in the campaign.

“We have to go to Alexandria and fight with everything we have. There are still matches to play and we have confidence that we will earn the ticket. We also call on Nigerians to believe in the team and continue to support us.”

After the clash with the Pharaohs in Alexandria on Tuesday, the Eagles will travel to Nd’jamena to battle the Le Sao of Chad in the first week of June, before hosting Tanzania in the final round of the series in the first week of September.

NFF top shots have confirmed that the players and officials will now travel to Alexandria on Monday aboard a chartered flight, as against an earlier arrangement to fly the delegation aboard Egypt Air.

The team will fly direct to Alexandria and have the official training at the match venue on Monday evening, before Tuesday’s match.

I saw great fans who cheered Nigeria till the end. I remember Nigeria vs SA, the Uyo fans were booing our boys with 10 minutes to go. Kaduna fans climbed up light-poles thats how much that match meant to them. Even if we do move on we should be thanking them for a job well done.

Do you think if our boys were down two nil to Egypt, the Kaduna fans would be cheering the Super Eagles?

So you think better facility, equipment and pitch does not count.

AF 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers Egypt
Nigeria vs Egypt: 10 Things we learnt

Kelechi Iheanacho of Nigeria challenges Ibrahim Sallah of Egypt during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier match between Nigeria v Egypt on March, 25th, 2016 at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna © Kabiru Abubakar/Backpagepix

Finally it has come and gone. The much anticipated AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and Egypt ended 1-1. Oghenekaro Etebo’s 60th minute goal seemed to have secured all three points till Mohammed Salah struck in stoppage time.

Here are 10 things we learnt…
(1)SIASIA SHOULD MIX IT!
Critics of the Sunday Oliseh era opined that the team were boring.

They rarely created goal-scoring opportunities. At a point, NFF president Amaju Pinnick mooted the idea of hiring an attacking coach to help the team’s progression to the final third.

Siasia’s plus is that his teams create chances for fun. They score many goals, but also have difficulties keeping things tight at the back. It is more like he entirely neglects the defensive aspect of the game. If he had struck a balance between attacking and securing the one goal lead on Friday, the result could have been different.

This was a Grade A competitive fixture and not some friendly. Some coaches would prefer to start the game with Iwobi and substitute him according to the progression of the game. If you planned to introduce him from the bench, the flow of the game might create no need for him. That was the case in this match. Iwobi’s competitive debut would have been delayed till the Alexandria reverse fixture, where he would have been handed a starting shirt.

(4) YES, THESE EAGLES CAN SCORE GOALS IN ALEXANDRIA
One thing that abounds in this team are goal threats. The mobility is heartwarming, a vintage Siasia team. In a game the team must win, you can be sure they will score. The team have the potentials to score as many as are needed, but I can’t guarantee their protecting the lead. A team who parade Odion Ighalo, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho can score goals anywhere on the continent. And when they are under Siasia’s tutelage, he knows how to squeeze out goals from rocks.

(5) FOR ALEXANDRIA, ELDERSON SHOULD STEP IN
Make no mistakes, I have high regards for Stanley Amuzie. I have been following his career for some time and I think he is a long-term option at left back, but this game may have come too soon after his long-term injury.

How many times was Efe Ambrose caught in possession unnecessarily? He has the penchant to initiate attack from defense. Laudable as that is, one should be well equipped to do so.

He lacks the finesse and his pass accuracy is low consequently he puts more pressure on the defence. He should be advised to keep it simple and not go beyond his abilities. Some of those let-off that the Egyptians did not capitalise on will not go unpunished in Alexandria.

(7)CONFIRMED! WE HAVE PROBLEMS AT RIGHT BACK!!
Gradually, the right back has become a problematic position in the national team. From Efe Ambrose to Solomon Kwambe, Leon Balogun and now Shehu Abdullahi we have been unable to get a modern-day full back who can initiate attack with ease. Given Siasia’s offensive disposition, he will make do with some flying wing backs. I will recommend former U20 captain Musa Mohammed and Wikki Tourists’ captain Mustapha Ibrahim. This embarrassment has to end. Is this not the same country who once paraded the likes of Yisa Shofoluwe and Mobi Oparaku at right back?

Nice article but I disagree with some points.

Iwobi was the right sub but the wrong position. Coach Siasia played him in a more attacking role, neglecting Iwobi's defensive capabilities which was required.

The mistake happened when Coach Siasia brought in an unnecessary Aminu. Leaving the team with two strikers instead of one. If Coach Siasia wanted Ighalo to stay, then Nacho should have gone out for Azubuike and not Aminu.

Then the Iwobi change should have seen him come in for Simon. Leaving Musa and Ighalo to maintain the attacking threat.

Iwobi has defensive capabilities but Aminu did not have it.

Imagine the kind of stadium with a better climate for our foreign pros Pinnick wants to leave for Kaduna. Someone remove that man from that place.

?

I loved the Kaduna atmosphere and i think the only thing that matters is a good plan and good players to execute. The field had nothing to do with the outcome of that match.
U acting like Oliseh was so horrible, i disagree, Oliseh was just a nut job plain and simple. Not the best coach but not the worst.

Port-Harcourt and Uyo have great atmospheres too. Those stadia are filled to capacity with cheering crowds.

If you feel the pitches can not affect the outcome of games, why do you think coaches complain about poor pitches.

Do you think Barcelona can play Tiki Taka on that pitch the same way they play it at Camp Nou?

That will tell you that pitches can affect outcomes of games. Remember Ahmed Musa's trip. The pitch stopped a brilliant run.

The Kaduna weather and pitch does not suit our foreign pros. Pinnick sticking to such conditions for our pros is baffling.

As for Oliseh, he is no way close to Guardiola. It makes you wonder how Pinnick came to that conclusion.

I never said pitches don't affect a match, even Man U complained about liverpool's pitch so it happens. What i said was that Kaduna's pitch had no effect on that match. It stopped Musa but it also stopped Salah and their number 7, some bad bounces saved us. There is one more home game left and i feel it should be played in Kaduna, then we can move on.

As long as we are not getting the best from our players, then we are not playing to our full strength. Why bring in foreign pros if we are not going to get the best from them?

Remember Coach Siasia leaving out Balogun earlier because he believed the conditions will not favor him.

Pinnick should do the right thing and play our players in the best conditions.

Imagine having Iwobi in the team. The boy is used to playing under cold conditions and carpet pitches. We can not get the best of him on that Kaduna pitch.

..Olboy...JJ was the master of the Art of football. To me,he's possibly the most naturally gifted footballer(along with Nwankwo Kanu) to come out of Africa. It's like ..with those two..they speak to the ball and the ball responds back as if to say "Yes Sir!".

I remember one time we were playing against Ghana in 2001 in Port Harcourt, world cup qualifier final match..somewhere around the center circle, someone passed the ball to JJ...

He trapped it in such a way that the ball spun counterclockwise forward on the turf about 8 yards...two Ghanaians, thinking he'd lost control, went after the ball...

All of a sudden, the spinning ball changed directions on them and spun right back to JJ..leaving the two Ghanaians stranded as if to say "WTF"? ..then JJ just laughed wildly as the crowd went berserk!!I nearly spilled my drink when I saw that..seriously..he made those two players look stupid.

I just saw this post and I wanted to share it.

Before the match, the Super Eagles trained in a pitch in Shell Residential Area, Port-Harcourt. During one of the training games, they played a match between the first team of the Super Eagles and the second team.

Emmanuel "Waist Breaker" Ebiede played for the second team. Ebiede was on fire in that match and then he pulled out a similar skill.

Ebiede used his outside foot and gave a pass towards the wing. One of the Super Eagles players pursued the ball, the ball spun and returned to him and the crowd watching went crazy.

It was so crazy that when the master of the Super Eagles skill crew, Okocha reached the pitch, Liberation Stadium, he even pulled a crazier one.

We have raised great players to build our Super Golden generation but we are yet to have skillful talents in the class of,
Emmanuel Ebiede
Wilson Oruma
Etim Esin
Jay Jay Okocha.

I hope some skillful geniuses emerge to compliment our current young Super stars.

He was selling him to the public. It was a strong backing. Oliseh is very knowledgeable but he couldn't translate that into the pitch. This could happen to any manager Jose comes to mind.

Hahahahaha..... Yes ooo... I was only around 9yrs then but I recall the match.

Okocha is by far the most skillful and most technically gifted player to come out of Africa followed by the "brainy" Nwankwo Kanu.

#smiles.

@Bolded... I know they will emerge. We haven't seen all of Nigeria's Generation Next yet...... #smiles

Fashanu, Disu: Draw In Kaduna Hasn’t Ruined Nigeria’s AFCON Hopes

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Former Wimbledon FC and Nigeria-born striker striker, John Fashanu has expressed belief that Nigeria's hopes of qualifying for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations will not be ruined by the Super Eagles' disappointing 1-1 draw against Egypt at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna Friday evening.

Oghenekaro Etebo scored Nigeria's goal in the 60th minute but AS Roma forward, Mohamed Salah beat an offside trap to score in the 91st minute to secure a draw for the Pharaohs.

While speaking to Comple tesportsnigeria.com on Nigeria's disappointing draw in Kaduna, Fashanu believes a win by Samson Siasia's team in Alexandria is a possibility.

"The frustration is understandable. Throwing away such a lead with just few minutes to the end of the game hurt, but let's be hopeful that they can get a win in Egypt.

"The Super Eagles generally played well, but could have scored more. Now the players know the importance of an away victory on Tuesday. I really hope they win it," Fashanu stresses.

Former Flying Eagles star, Tajudeen Disu also adds his voice to the Eagles' draw against Group G leader, Egypt, who now have seven points in three games.

"Before the game, I had always said that we should not be carried away by a goal or underrate the Egyptians. Obviously, the Super Eagles players believed they had won at the time they conceded that goal. This is a setback, but I know we will still make it," the former Abiola Babes defender told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Nigeria who have five points will travel on Monday for Tuesday's game in Alexandria.

Predicted Formation For Nigeria To Beat Egypt In Alexandria

We had an entertaining game and we noted a lot of positive things in that game. Most especially the impressive performances of our youngsters against a top African stars.

Iwobi got his first Super Eagles cap in a competitive game and his pass to Victor Moses showed why the English FA made a last-minute effort to lure the young Arsenal forward to the English side.

Iheanacho showed why he is Manchester City's Best Impact player and Most Lethal Shot Taker with his low power-driven shot saved by the Egyptian goal keeper. Etebo converted an Iheanacho shot that rattled the cross-bar. Iheanacho also showed his versatility when he dropped deep on many occasions to increase the team's fluidity and possession.

Simon Moses was brilliant all through the match and he helped to cover Amuzie when he was off position with Salah exposed. Musa was also brilliant with his perpetrating runs and brilliant shots.

Carl Ikeme's saves helps calm the pain of losing the safe hands of Enyeama. Mikel had a nice game but lost possession on some occasions. Etebo put in good work rate, got the goal and helped distract a Moroccan striker who almost scored after our defence went to sleep during the first half.

Good game collectively but we head to Alexandria, Egypt for a must win tie. I expect the Coaching crew of Coach Siasia and Coach Amunike must have enough knowledge on their players and opponent to give us a win.

I propose we go with a 4-3-3 formation. An attacking line up with three forwards.

----------------------------------Carl Ikeme(GK)----------------------------------------
---------------------Ambrose(CB)----------------Oboabona(CB)------------------
Abdullahi(RB)-----------------------------------------------------------Amuzie(LB)
----------------------Mikel(DMF)-------------------Onazi(DMF)----------------------
--------------------------------------Iwobi(CMF/AMF)--------------------------------
Moses(SS)----------------------------------------------------------------S. Moses(SS)
-------------------------------------Iheanacho(CF)------------------------------------------

I feel Odion Ighalo did not bring in invention to his game and limited the team's fluid play. His style of staying close to the defenders all the time will not help the team in Alexandria. At Kaduna, the Egyptian defenders showed they could cope with Ighalo and I feel persisting with him up front will not help our goals.

Iwobi played for Arsenal against Barcelona and did well. He was one of the few bright players in a losing Arsenal side and I feel he can help the team with his brilliant passes. I feel we have found someone who can take the pass master crown from Mikel. Although Mikel brings a lot to the team with his short passes which is key to the team's success.

Onazi should cut his forward runs and let the attacking players do their jobs. Same caution goes to Ambrose. His forward runs were reckless and he put his team mates under a lot of pressure.

I still think Amuzie can cope with Salah if Onazi maintains his position and doubles up with him to stop Salah.

FLY SUPER EAGLES FLY.
