Facebook: Now And Then..... by BecaciaBarbie(f): 6:48pm On Mar 25, 2016 |
Akinsoji Babatunde I opened Facebook around 2009, in my freshman year in the university and boy! It was all fun, finding lost friends and foes alike, making fun of each other, professing my love for one naughty fair girl wey leave me go marry pastor...Lol, gradually, it (Facebook) started showing levels...I remember running to Fb to confirm if Mustapha Eskills truly updated his status 'via Blackberry'...Lol...remember bah? But fast forward 7years later, same Fb, different feeling. The truth is, if you want to have an idea at which your life is progressing, just take 2 panadol + 1 phensic tablets, relax and then scroll through your news feed... Season 1; Akinlabi got married last Saturday {chai! And I still dey toast and roast Basira for the past 2months, no breakthrough}, Koboulano just bought a Mercedes SUV {that reminds me, I have to finish this quick and sleep in order to catch the first molue to oshodi tomorrow morning}, Somto in a fabulous pic, captioned: life in Canada is so sweet! {I don't even have a national ID card, so make passport go chill}, Winkunle uploads a pic, with her in a office fit only for Obama himself and captions it 'first day at work' {By now, the two pills of panadol don finish their work and na d last bar of phensic remain, besides u gats manage your 10mb data plan...so u apply common sense theory, off data sharply}... Lol...might sound funny, but guy...that's what most of us go through in reality, no forming abeg...but like that adage says...'not all that glitters is gold'. Haven't you wondered why no one uploads pictures of his/her termination of appointment letter? Or share stories of the numerous rejections at the embassy? Or pictures of him/her struggling to enter a Fedeco bus at Ojuelegba? Or how she marketed an unknown brand along Ikeja along? Or how he was forced to wed a lady he never loved but got pregnant anyway... Dude, if you get bothered over seeing your friends on social media seemingly moving ahead of you, then you must be that Agbo still living in Calabar for the past 20 years. The way it works is this, humans are naturally engineered to post their sweetest moments on social media and still try all means to keep out their worst moments...giving the impression, 'All is sweet and beautiful Always'...if I hear! So fellas, forget that sh*t, pray hard and hussle harder...your breakthrough is around the corner, never get intimidated by pictures whose making, you had no idea. In the end bro, whether you 'make am' or not...all na vanity upon vanity, a good legacy, is all that matters. Peace y'all! 9 Likes 7 Shares |

Nice one Beca... One of the things I'm most grateful for is the fact that on NL most of the people here are e-friends who I can't start comparing their lives and the pace at which they progress with mine. I also don't bother checking pictures here too because it makes no difference to me. I didn't know what they looked like last year, I can't envy how they look today. I can only celebrate with them bearing in mind that this one has also hustled his/her way out. |
