Babangida Picks Hole In N40Billion Budget For North-East Crude Oil Exploration-Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (IBB), has picked a big hole in the 40 billion Naira budgeted for Crude Oil exploration in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari claiming the amount was earmarked as systematic looting. According to him, the exploration attempt may not be only phony but would end up in an efforts in futility. He said Nigerians should view the earmarked amount as a systematic looting by trick and kick against it Babangida was speaking during an address he gave while o playing a host to a group, “The Coalition of Nigeria Future Leaders”, held in his Minna country home recently. He claimed that no investment survives under a massive destruction in an on-going the war as far as he knew as a retired general, claiming the attempt was only a ploy for embezzlement. He said: “It was least expected of caliber of President Buhari to have even nurtured such unrealistic idea or embrace such destructive advice from any of his Aides or Ministers. “President Buhari is a retired general and a trained combatant in whom I never believed such move or plan could survive a day.” The group was on a courtesy visit to the retired general and one of the nation’s statesmen, to officially notify him of his new appointment as the group grand patron. In his opening remarks, the leader of the group, Comrade Edison Godwin, appreciated the spirit of statesmanship in General Ibrahim Babangida, as he described his silence in the present APC-led federal government as golden and meaningful. He said no one can compare the retired general to his colleagues who have retired and yet get involved in dirty politics around the Southwest. He accused President Buhari of taken such step as a systematic way to appease the Boko Haram sects, lamenting that it was unfortunate seeing President Buhari now diplomatically granting backdoor amnesty to his people, at the expense of the nation’s economy. Godwin said: “The type of change the All Progressive Congress (APC) brought to Nigerians was least envisaged. He charged: “That the President could have even stoop so low to have relocated the Military Headquarters to the war front was a terrible change on its arrival.” He said General Ibrahim Babangida must have realised some weaknesses in the leadership of General Muhammadu Buhari as a Military Head of States before he decided to overthrow him in August 27, 1985 in a successful coup. “No one needs further explanations as to why Buhari was budgeted such huge amount to be wasted in a danger zone like Northeast. It is a crazy economic decision. “How could a sound retired warlord who had the experience of what the war front always look like decided to expend billions of naira in such an environ? What for, at this challenging period? “Was that suppose to be part of the changes we were promised as Nigerian youths? The priority to the N5,000 each earlier promised the unemployed graduates? “President Buhari should realise what will be at stake if such project goes off in a glint of an eye as a result of insurgency,” Godwin admonished. The host, who later enjoined the group to be good ambassadors of the country, told his guests to live up to the meaning of their name, The Coalition of Nigeria Future Leaders. Ibrahim Babangida: Says the projected exploration in North-East is phony Babangida Babangida Picks Hole In N40Billion Budget For North-East Crude Oil Exploration Babangida Babangida: Says the projected exploration in North-East is phony “I feel honoured with your choice in me as the grand patron to your group. It’s good having people like you around with this type of positive mindset. Definitely Nigeria shall be great again. Please always see this country as yours and her unity as a must protected. You are the future leaders as you said, and I want you to protect that which you aspire to lead,” IBB advised his guests exhibiting his usual gentle smile. No Govt can operate successfully without an element of corruption involved. (Use America, England and Russia as an example) Nigeria is finding out the hard way! |

Buhari is not for this era - his policies have so far proven fruitless. This week he asked for 3 more years - that shows he doesn't have a clue and the sooner Nigerians realise this the better! 3 Likes |

Sunofgod: PDP What do you people want again? It is enough naaa. You people destroyed this country for 16 years. Now you expect Buhari to correct your woes in 1 year. Please go away. Stop causing trouble everywhere and stiring pple's minds away from the bigger task at hand. Buhari policies are not fruitless by the way. We voted him in specifically to kick PDP out. He is doing just that. Very effectively. 1 Like |

Is this a joke post? Some people who did not live in the 1980's are busy posting this? 1.IBB took over in 1985. 2.) Things did not get better. Infact by 1986...the economy was in a bad state. By 1989...the government had to devalue the Naira ,making things worse. 3). Times were hard then. Prices were high, and salaries were low.(ASUU back then used to joke about one's salary not being able to take one home). 4.Our industrial sector continued to decline then. 5.Things ''improved'' in 1990-91....oil boom. And...IBB did not save the money.(Gulf oil windfall scandal). 6.And IBB was not too good on human rights. In May 1986...19 students in ABU died when MOPOL invaded the campus shooting recklessly. THis provoked student protests across Nigerian universities, which led to their closure. 7.You people accuse Buhari of islamising Nigeria? How about IBB....who took us into the Organisation of Islamic Conference...without even discussing it at the AFRC meeting. Ask what led to Ebitu Ukiwe's sack. Under IBB....religious crisis was a serious problem . In 1987....Kaduna burned for 3 days in March. 9) GEJ handed over.IBB....not only did not hand over to the winner of JUne 12...but to an illegal interim government which was eventually removed by Abacha.....who was even more sterner than IBB. You people....stop the joke. You want to replace a former army dictator...with another former Army dictator. If you do not like Buhari....there are processes in our constitution to remove him. Use them if you wish. Want to know more....read here:https://dawodu.com/amuwo1.htm |

It seems that some Nigerians have forgotten history.... Babangida (sapped) or totally wiped the middle class out of existence with the destruction of the naira, which he did by fiat in 1985, when he down graded the naira exchange rate from about N2 to N18 to the dollar. By the time he was forced out of office in 1993, the naira was exchanging at N60 to the dollar. Society was now reduced to two social classes of either the very poor or the rich rogues. Also.... The Gulf war oil windfall is Babangida’s often-referenced loot. Abacha set up a panel headed by the highly respected economist, Pius Okigbo, in October, 1994, to reorganize the CBN. Okigbo’s panel discovered that $12.2 billion of the $12.4 billion accruable from the Gulf War excess crude oil sales was frittered away or unaccounted for, through nebulous or phantom projects that could not be traced. Only $206 million was left in the account. According to Okigbo, “disbursements were clandestinely undertaken while the country was openly reeling with crushing external debt overhead. These represent, no matter the initial justification for creating the account, a gross abuse of public trust. ” More here:http://saharareporters.com/2010/09/17/general-ibrahim-badamosi-babangida-evil-candidate |
