Skako: This is a very simple issue. A Christian group/Mission undertook a mission to host an IDP in Edo State. It is only natural for them to decline to allow any faith based group other than their's to seek to associate with the IDP's directly. This is where MCAN missed it. If sincerely, their well being is all you care for, then send the relief materials to the management of the camp in the presence of the press/media along with your Spiritual admonitions. Chikenan. All the IDP's need to know is that some muslim brothers/sisters sent help their way, that's enough encouragement. Continue to build a cordial relationship with the camp leaders, and prayer-fully wait for the situation to improve. Remember that these people were practically displaced by conflict raised by self-professed radicalised islamists; that's enough to tells you that a certain air of mistrust should be expected both from the management and the IDP's. Any aggressive approach is automatically suspect from both management and IDP's. Asking them to even build a mosque within the camp is a just dumb thing to say; its like asking the Sultan of Sokoto or Sanusi Lamido to build a church for Christians within his palace/community for Christians within the community as proof of his belief in freedom of religion in Nigeria. That's just crazy. You already know what the answer will be. In any case, is the presence of a mosque a requirement for praying or practising one's faith in the Holy Quran?? For those who seek to pray, water and. a clean clearing is enough, highest a mat or two. It takes just one person to start, before you know it, more will follow suit. As par forcing people to convert to Christianity, I doubt that greatly. It is a thing totally unheard of across the entire Christian world, if it is true that this really happened in Nigeria, of all places Edo State - then Nigerians have set another world record besides corruption for themselves. I believe that the core purpose of the visit to the camp by MCAN was to evangelise, and it is natural for the management of the camp to resist. As far as I am concerned, the management asking MCAN to handover the relief materials to them was not only proper but was a sound/diplomatic manner of meeting MCAN "half-way" on their request. If ever a muslim camp was setup, this is exactly what any other faith based group outside islam would have been asked to do. Infact, there are even muslim groups in this country that will swiftly decline to accept any offer of help from any faith based group outside islam except on the strictest terms of confidentiality;so I don't see why MCAN is crying wolf where there is none. If sincerely, MCAN truly cares and was concerned about the plight of the people there, such a request should have been welcomed with open arms. Besides considering the huge amount of investment required to raise a camp of that magnitude, I'm totally disappointed with the Spirit with which this thread was raised - knowing fully well that MCAN nor the Sultan himself can't afford to do the same by themselves - one who truly cares would at least be appreciative of the fact that someone else who has a different Spiritual view of life were first in line to choose to organise such an undertaking. Feeding those people alone requires millions of Naira per day and consistent sponsorship. This doesn't include cost of clothing and providing basic education. At least, MCAN should have considered that even if the Pastor-in-Charge may be the willing to let MCAN have unrestricted access, the same may not be said for sure about it's sponsorship base. I concur therefore that sentiments and not wisdom formed the basis of MCAN dealings with the Camp management. There is only one sure way to resolve this, which is to create a rehabilitation programme to re-integrate the camp dwellers into society, if not back into their original settlements/homes at least in places close to their homes, or with similar values of their own homes. Such a programme must give the occupants of the camp a choice to subscribe or decline. Thank God, you have the ears of the sultan of sokoto, such a plan will definitely attract his support as well as that of peace-loving muslim faithfuls across the country and the world. That way, you can have access to them and encourage them Spiritually in any way you please. One thing I know for sure, is that no where in the world are men compelled to be Christians - except somethings have changed which I don't know, in such a scenario I stand to be corrected/educated. As par deceiving or forcing or manipulating them to be Christians; that's speculative, except you are insisting that a gun was held to their heads or their lives where threatened for them to convert to Christianity - which is a method notably used by radicalised islamist groups like Boko Haram or child abductors of recent in Nigeria - then the onus falls on you to either prove your allegation or tender a public apology to the Camp management except you have no desire to interact with them again. As valuable as formal education is, without the necessary wisdom, tact and guidance that Spiritually inspired books can provide (in your case the Quran), you will only end up justifying whatever actions the Camp management choose to take against you. As par brainwashing or manipulating people to stone soldiers, that sounds awkward and spurious. In any case, given the fact that these people were forced out of their homes by violent conflict; why would the Sultan even go through the ministry of defence!!?? Does it make sense for them to be forcefully relocated without any form of information or enlightenment - probably to places where Boko Haram has suffered technical defeat - without allowing them to choose between leaving or staying or even seeking alternative arrangements/camps other than the ones they are in!!?? No effort to build a relationship/trust with the camp management not to talk of the IDP's, just wake up one morning and ask soldiers to move them; given the amount of trauma these people would have gone through, and knowing the kind country whey we dey, if na you, you go follow the soldiers, abi na U go first carry stone?? Where was the Sultan of Sokoto and MCAN all this while when families were sacked from their homes and children were separated from their parents in conflict created by radicalised islamists. If they had risen up to challenge of caring for their own, would there have been a need to create a camp faraway from their homes in Edo state?? I even remember when protests where raised by Edo state residents when these camps were to be setup, for fear of making Edo State a potential target for Boko Haram, the Sultan didn't step in. Now a christian camp mission comes in and they are crying wolf. My Good friend, go and strategize. Mixing sentiments, an aggressive approach, with your religion will only paint you folks in the image and likeness of the same kind of people the Occupants of the camp are running away from.......Terrorists!! Who are also self-professed practising muslims!! Be wise................... 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Gaddafithe2nd:don't mind them bro! Even Christianity is baseless in their scripture. That religion is for the Ignorant Fools. They have never in their life read the Bible cover to cover to understand its content. All they know is to quote their pastor who has flashed God to be called a prophet. He did not even wait for God to call him before he starts claiming prophet. That is even if calling to prophethood exist. Why we have so many Christians this end time is because their so called worship suits their social life of dancing and romancing opposite sex in the club. That is the same thing they do in the church. Jesus did not worship this way..... I do not have much time to be trading words with confused team. I pray Allah shows you the way! Because if you die in this ignorance, hell will be your final Abode! |

or: Solomon wrote Song of Solomon, according to the first verse. This song is one of 1,005 that Solomon wrote ( 1 Kings 4:32 ). The title “Song of Songs” is a superlative, meaning this is the best one. Date of Writing: Solomon most likely wrote this song during the early part of his reign. This would place the date of composition around 965 B.C. Purpose of Writing: The Song of Solomon is a lyric poem written to extol the virtues of love between a husband and his wife. The poem clearly presents marriage as God’s design. A man and woman are to live together within the context of marriage, loving each other spiritually, emotionally, and physically. This book combats two extremes: asceticism (the denial of all pleasure) and hedonism (the pursuit of only pleasure). The marriage profiled in Song of Solomon is a model of care, commitment, and delight. Key Verses: Song of Solomon 2:7 ; 3:5 ; 8:4 - “Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.” Song of Solomon 5:1 - “Eat, O friends, and drink; drink your fill, O lovers.” Song of Solomon 8:6-7 - “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” Brief Summary: The poetry takes the form of a dialogue between a husband (the king) and his wife (the Shulamite). We can divide the book into three sections: the courtship (1:1 - 3:5); the wedding (3:6 - 5:1); and the maturing marriage (5:2 - 8:14). The song begins before the wedding, as the bride-to-be longs to be with her betrothed, and she looks forward to his intimate caresses. However, she advises letting love develop naturally, in its own time. The king praises the Shulamite’s beauty, overcoming her feelings of insecurity about her appearance. The Shulamite has a dream in which she loses Solomon and searches throughout the city for him. With the help of the city guards, she finds her beloved and clings to him, taking him to a safe place. Upon waking, she repeats her injunction not to force love. On the wedding night, the husband again praises the beauty of his wife, and in highly symbolic language, the wife invites her spouse to partake of all she has to offer. They make love, and God blesses their union. As the marriage matures, the husband and wife go through a difficult time, symbolized in another dream. In this second dream, the Shulamite rebuffs her husband, and he leaves. Overcome with guilt, she searches the city for him; but this time, instead of helping her, the guards beat her—symbolic of her pained conscience. Things end happily as the lovers reunite and are reconciled. As the song ends, both the husband and wife are confident and secure in their love, they sing of the lasting nature of true love, and they yearn to be in each other’s presence. Foreshadowings: Some Bible interpreters see in Song of Solomon an exact symbolic representation of Christ and His church. Christ is seen as the king, while the church is represented by the Shulamite. While we believe the book should be understood literally as a depiction of marriage, there are some elements that foreshadow the Church and her relationship with her king, the Lord Jesus. Song of Solomon 2:4 describes the experience of every believer who is sought and bought by the Lord Jesus. We are in a place of great spiritual wealth and are covered by His love. Verse 16 of chapter 2 says, “My beloved is mine, and I am his. He feeds his flock among the lilies” (NKJV). Here is a picture of not only the security of the believer in Christ ( John 10:28-29 ), but of the Good Shepherd who knows His sheep—believers—and lays down His life for us (John 10:11 ). Because of Him, we are no longer stained by sin, having had our “spots” removed by His blood (Song of Solomon 4:7 ; Ephesians 5:27 ). Practical Application: Our world is confused about marriage. The prevalence of divorce and modern attempts to redefine marriage stand in glaring contrast to Solomon’s Song. Marriage, says the biblical poet, is to be celebrated, enjoyed, and revered. This book provides some practical guidelines for strengthening our marriages: 1) Give your spouse the attention he or she needs. Take the time to truly know your spouse. 2) Encouragement and praise, not criticism, are vital to a successful relationship. 3) Enjoy each other. Plan some getaways. Be creative, even playful, with each other. Delight in God’s gift of married love. 4) Do whatever is necessary to reassure your commitment to your spouse. Renew your vows; work through problems and do not consider divorce as a solution. God intends for you both to live in a deeply peaceful, secure love. Recommended Resources: |
