Even if for any reason Awo don't make the Olympic final sqaud, I'm okay with the fact that he's still developing great. He's a huge talent and will be in line to provide competition in the attack department when our "Generation-Next" enters mid-to-full-bloom stage.

TheGoodJoe:

Fantastic article. Makes me want to see more games of Awoniyi. Wish Awo the best.

U-23 Eagles Return On Sunday, Earn Brazil FA Boss’ Praise

The Nigerian delegation to Brazil for Thursday's U-23 international friendly, which the U-23 Eagles won 1-0, will return to the country on Sunday.

According to a Nigeria Football Federation release, the delegation, made up of nine players and six officials, will be touching down in Lagos at about 8.10pm. The overseas-based professionals have already departed for their bases.

The team will immediately proceed on a one-week break to resume camp on 4 April.

Meanwhile, the president of the Brazilian Football Federation Antonio Carlos Nunes has expressed joy that the Nigeria U-23 team accepted to travel to Vitoria to play the Brazil Olympic team, as both teams build up to the Rio Olympics football event.

Speaking while presenting a souvenir to the Nigeria Football Federation during the international friendly between both countries on Thursday, the Brazilian FA boss disclosed that Brazil felt honoured for one of the giants of African football to accept her invitation.

"For us in Brazil and South America, we see the national teams from Nigeria as the best in Africa, and as such playing host to your team who are the champions of Africa is not only an honor but a thing of pride, and so it is a thing of joy that your federation accepted to play us," Nunes said.

Responding on behalf of NFF president Amaju Pinnick, the Deputy General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, who led the delegation, thanked the Brazilian FA for being great hosts, adding that the NFF sees it as an honor to be among the select few to be hosted by them.

We are going to the Olympic games to conquer – Ekpai

The Dream Team VI’s 1-0 win against Brazil can inspire Nigeria to a second Olympic gold in football at the Summer Games according to winger Ubong Ekpai.

Ekpai scored the only goal of the game, inspiring a win over the team that will play as hosts and favorites in the football event of the Rio 2016 in August.

Though he hailed A Seleção as a tactically astute side, Nigeria’s quality and resolve will make opponents respect the Dream Team.

Akpom On Target, Iorfa And Ibe Impress As England U21s Draw With Switzerland

Four players of Nigerian descent were handed game time as England U21s played out a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in a UEFA European U21 Championship Group 9 Qualifier on Saturday.

Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom and Wolves fullback Dominic Iorfa were included in the starting line-up, while Liverpool starlet Jordon Ibe and Chelsea loanee Dominic Solanke were substitutes.

Akpom gave England the lead two minutes out of intermission after he was set up by Demarai Gray and had an effort cleared off the line minutes later.

Dominic Iorfa, who was the only player of Nigerian descent that went the distance, and Ibe were impressive, making impact from the right and left wing respectively.

The 20-year-old Akpom has now scored three goals in four appearances for the England U21 team following his strike today at Stockhorn Arena, home of Thun FC.
FC Basel defender Manuel Akanji is still recovering from injury and was not called up by the Switzerland U21s manager.

UCHE HANDED FIVE MATCH BAN FOR PUNCHING OPPONENT IN SPAIN

Granada are going to be without the services of their Nigerian import Uche Agbo after he was given a 5 match ban for punching an opponent.

The incident happened last weekend with the B team of Granada against Recreativo de Huelva when he was sent off in the 89 minutes and on his way out of the pitch he punched an opponent.

Spanish Football Federation Competition commitee handed him the five match ban that will also rule him out of the main team games after reviewing the referee’s report.

Agbo is slowly gaining a reputation of a midfielder who picks up cards as he has been booked 10 times for the B team and three times for the main team.

His absence will be felt the more by the B team where the 20 year old has made 22 appearances with 2 goals to his name than with the first team where he has played just 6 games with no goal to his name.

FEAR GRIPS ENGLAND AS NIGERIA CONSIDER HANDING NATIONAL TEAM CALL UP TO LIVERPOOL OJO AND MAN UNITED KEHINDE

According to reports sourced by owngoalnigeria.com England are set to fast track the integration of Anglo Nigerians Seji Ojo and Tosin Kehinde into their youth team set up to avoid losing them after losing Alex Iwobi to Nigeria.

Both players are eligible for Nigeria and England but after Nigeria stole a march on the English by snatching former youth international Alex Iwobi, the English are considering measures to forestall a re-occurrence of same thing with highly rated duo who have been earning rare reviews for their performances for the youth set-up ofLiverpool and Manchester United.

Ojo found the net for Liverpool in the Reds’ FA Cup third round replay against Exeter City at Anfield and, to date, has made four senior appearances for the Merseysiders since returning from a loan spell at English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers where he made 17 appearances scoring twice aside picking up three assist.

Although he has played for England from U-16s to U-19s level they are fears he might follow Alex Iwobi in switching to the country of his descendants Nigeria where unconfirmed reports has it that he is being monitored by the Nigeria Under-20s and 23s team which might be the stepping stone to the senior national team.

Also Lagos born 18 year old Nigeria midfielder is another on the radar of Nigeria youth team coaches following his commanding displays for Manchester United reserves that saw him make his U-21 debut at the age of 16, a performance that has caught the eyes of Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal.

The kind of Lala these English people are smoking does not have part 2.

Imagine a boy, whose parents are Nigerian, his uncle (Jay Jay Okocha) is a Nigerian football royalty, he wanted to play for Nigeria and he was born in Nigeria. How did we steal or snatch Iwobi.

English FA should stay off drugs.

Lol...its just a saying or an idiom. To steal a march means beating someone to the point. Like i can steal a march on u by eating the last piece of meat.

Holland Ahead of Nigeria,Germany In Race To Cap Exciting Wing-Back Kingsley Ehizibue

Kingsley Ehizibue failed to debut for the Netherlands U21 team in their 1-0 win over Norway in an international friendly inLa Manga on Friday.

The exciting right-back was called up by the Dutch Federation for the friendlies against the Scandinavians and Serbia on March 28 after a string of fine performances for PEC Zwolle.

Ehizibue was named among the substitutes versus Norway but was not given a run out and will now target Monday’s fixture at the Pinatar Arena in San Pedro de Pinatar to make his maiden appearance for Holland.

The 20-year-old was born in Munich to a Nigerian father, meaning he can pledge his international future to the Super Eagles and Germany as well.

So far this season, the wing-back has played 21 times forPEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie, scoring 3 goals (2 assists) .

I don't think we have scout and if we have, he is only there to earn salary. How can we continue to be having difficulties at the Rb despite having at least 3 good Rb players playing regularly in Europe? What is the scout doing? Are the likes of Kenneth Otigba, Moses Odubanjo, Tiago Ilori and Kingsley Ehizibue not good enough or not Nigerians any more?

Seyi Ojo is a very good player but i don't think he is eligible for the U20 team. I think if he gets enough playing time, he should be invited to fight for a place in the U23 team.

Lol thesupernerd you are quoting Transfermarkt , for a player who just had his breakthrough NPFL Season last year.
Have you ever watched him play for Abia Warriors?
Google the key words 'Ndifreke Effiong Abia warriors' and see for your self.
SiaOne has been playing him out of position ever since ....
Ndifreke is One of NPFL's biggest attacking prospects. Himself and Chikatara were wrecking havoc on defences last season and haven't stopped.

http://thenationonlineng.net/effiong-boasts-abia-warriors-can-be-league-champs/
Let us ask the NPFL ogas on this forum fot more clarification.
CC Honeric01 MaziOmenuko(an abia warriors fan) jaypea98 Crownprince102 Uduokirika1
ndifreke effiong is primarily an attacking midfielder with good dribble skill and goal sense. In the first half of last season, he already knocked 7 goals. He could also fit perfectly in the wings.

People have a right to their own opinions. I personally do not argue every comment made by a forumite. Some times u let go and respect the persons opinion especially when it is backed up with facts.

I can keep quite over an opinion that player A is better than Player B if it is backed with facts. I mean real technical facts.
Not reasons like because player A was born and raised in England or plays in Europe then he is automatically better than player B who still plays in the NPFL. I find it difficult overlooking such an opinion.

Go back and look at the reasons chrisooblog gave for regarding Imoh Ezekiel as average. They are valid facts. Even though I may not completely agree with his conclusion I would want to give him that benefit of doubt and personally want to go quiet on that one and allow Imoh to prove chrisooblog wrong.
