Memejem: My dear, statistics are important, but more important and realistic are the observations we make daily. Would you dispute that armed robbers serving jail time in Nigeria or USA are overwhelmingly men? I guess not. Yet you won't have exact statistics comparing male & female armed robbers by heart. Fact is even in 2016, majority of women marry men who are economically better off than them. Even the 200level babe dating the 500Level guy has already calculated that the guy will already be likely earning/employed by the time she completes her NYSC. Many girls openly and unashamedly say that they cannot marry a guy without his own house, a good job/business and a good ride. Even in the West where it's more common to live in a wife's house (due to many ladies now marrying in their 30s & 40s), the woman can effortless kick the man out of his own house during divorce, let alone when she already owns the house. Either way, not a good situation for a man to be in. |

Nixiepie: Omo, listen to your father. You can have more fine clothes than your parents, but can never have as many cast-off rags . They have experience; listen. Sooner or later you will discover that marriage will be first about money before love comes up. 1 Like |

Naomite: True! I have daughters but you may not find happiness. Very few men will date a woman who have surpassed them in life. It is extremely destructive to a man's life. |

Mindfulness: I think you need to read slower so you can comprehend better. Who said anything about requirement? Respecting your culture and tradition is not a requirement, it's a choice and many women would rather preserve their status than to be associated with the word rude, bossy and/or disrespectful. Point 2: Where did I mention many men owning more than one house? I used the word 'not rare', it means more and more people are doing it. Please try to argue your point constructively! |

[quote author=Nixiepie post=44242404]lolz.. And don't u think that will make the wife the head?the dictator and controller of the house ,no matter how submissive she is?[/quote. Very correct. Even when a man uses his own money to build his house, most Nigerian women don't welcome their husbands' relations, let alone she building the house. She will just give her husband the list of people she would like to be seen in the house. Women are so unpredictable! |

I live in Canada. Nobody just kicks anyone out of the house just like that. Unlike nigeria the legal system here works appropriately. Call the police. The problem will be solved within a few hours. Men have been throwing women out of thier matrimonial home in nigeria since the beginning of time. If a man owns a home or a woman owns a home it doesn't change thier character. Bad people will display bad behaviours regardless. Let me speak from my experience. I am a registered nurse. I'm not married yet, but many of my colleagues are married to men who make less than them. Likewise many of my colleagues are married to husbands who make more than them. People here value character. Though all their husbands contribute very well financially. I don't know if its poverty that makes it seem like a lot of women in nigeria are driven to men because of money. But that's not the case the majority of the time here in my experience. At least in my group of friends and colleagues. At the end of the day. We need to put this horrible mentality aside and think reasonably. If you married the spouse of your choosing with a good character. None of this is a problem. Only men who feel they must own and conquer all will view thier wife building a house as a challenge. My view is they should build the house TOGETHER as husband and wife. AreaFada2: 2 Likes |

Nixiepie: Ego has always been the problem of Africa men and I won't totally blame them because women will definitely use this ideology of "I own this house" to frustrate her husband especially when he is not financially buoyant. For me, I can live in my wife's house provided I contributed to the development of the house or I have my own house. |
