Who can point me to that discussion on door locks....i think its on this thread. I got a home based carpenter and a welder to work together and they produced the most amazing wood covered iron door. The lock is the only drawback as what they have does not match what i want. I need to read that who conversation on locks again. |

@ EgunMogaji, have you poured your slab yet? I'm just thinking it would be nice if you can introduce a drain for rainwater runoff in the courtyard or better still leave out the drain-off points for proper installation at a later time. There are stylish linear types which will be a perfect solution for your courtyard. There's no prob if you leave out the space though. All the best. 1 Like 2 Shares |

n3xt: The current monumental fuel shortage caused us to postpone it until tomorrow. The water truck didn't arrive until almost noon so we opted to postpone. A very good catch on the courtyard drainage. I have two 4" drains coming out of the courtyard. There will only be direct water from rains into the courtyard as the roof will have rain gutters and there will be a few water gulping trees in there. Thanks for the observation.

Chekitaut:@bolded is a point I can't ignore. I see no reason why they will be made in Nigeria products and I will take my money to buy These people aren't bringing their money to buy our 'mades' but we keep buying from them and booming their own economy. I blame FG for not encouraging and willing to assist local manufacturers in Nigeria. |

I was actually forced to do the self purchase of granite from the quarry due to a last minute ForEx transfer issue that I had. With respect to our professional suppliers, by going DIY I was able to make tremendous savings but there's a risk factor that can be mitigated. All is well that ends well.

For EgunMogaji. Good job with your building. I see some "Opo" or "Pillars" in the courtyard. I'm forced to ask "what are those for?" Trust me, this is the time to put in your concrete baseplate or start working on your padstones for something "classy" using steel. Don't turn this house into a classroom o! Dem go laugh us. Meanwhile, this is what I'll present to anyone as a courtyard in this age. You just want to give them cause to complain Iba o! _______________ volver al modo de reposo

For all the likes, mentions, quotes and share while I was away, I'm so sorry it just have to be that way. When the responsibility gets bigger, things get different. Long gone are the days when Brabus need to be in front of people every single day. I'd rather focus on writing epic and useful posts that solve problems and help people than keep up with the joneses. 1 Like 1 Share |

brabus: Thanks my oga. I'll be elated if my house can pull of a commercial look like a classroom. That is one of my objective, to not look the same ol same ol My build is not a community center or charity decision. My architect and I came out with what we feel is a good balance. I share my build just to chat, it's not seeking approval or acceptance. Though I do appreciate safety feedback from astute builders like you. Basically my house looks fine to me and I'm the only one that matter, not the collective - let them laugh - it's facial exercise. But if you, or other vetted entities, spot a deficiency please question it. Re pillars, my architect and structural engineer and builder feel it's necessary. I'm okay with it. |

EgunMogaji: Why u no go get malaria when you were drinking non-alcoholic Hennessy in Nigeria. Just drink a mixture of palm wine and stout and that is bye bye to malaria. The palm wine should be the one from raffia palm tree and not the one from oil palm tree. The one from raffia palm tree is gotten from the top of the tree while that of oil palm tree is from the base of the tree. 1 Like |
