He saw the laceration on her head where she had been stabbed. "Jeez. I thought that was a dream? I thought I averted this by stopping Theodore. Oh, what I'm I going to do?" Just then his ears picked up sound coming from behind him. He turned just in time to avert a sharp knife that no doubt would have been in his back if he hadn't moved. "You again! What the hell do you want?" "The orb. Give me the orb and I won't have to bother you." "But you know that's not possible. This isn't just any orb. Its my guardian in there." For a blink second, he thought he saw a confused look on Martins's face. The dude's grip on the knife had loosened and George felt momentarily relieved. "But that can't be. I saw that orb emit the Perisian dew that resursitates. It is the Omniorb." He immediately he had heard the word that he had seen it somewhere... ....In the hidden library.... ....Elise and elixirs section... ...In the book Orbs Day long... Yes, the omniorb! This was the missing link. He had found the key to entering Ingord. He was finally going to enter and he knew just how as it had been specifically described. But how come the hadn't just gone ahead and described the place as Ingord? It had been described as a habitation of everything that walks at night and silence reign when its bright? How does that relates to Ingord. Were the people actually norturnal? He shook his head. Not a chance! He had read almost a dozen books about Ingord and not one of them had described it that way. "My God Alexius is actually so wise. Changing into the omniorb which is exactly what we needed. He's just so wise." "Give me the omniorb. I promise you that I can restore Cordelia's life force. I just need the orb." He thought about it and it seemed like a nice bargain except for the fact that he'd have to lose Alexius and he was supposed to be the one to lead him to destiny. He had to chose between seeing Cordelia well again which would obviously make her father happy who will otherwise be heartbroken but still, Alexius would be gone, probably drained off all his essence and reduced to nothingness, betrayed by the one he was pledged to guard. He close his eyes to the thought of it. "No, I can't." "Yes, you can." "No, I CAN'T!!!" He opened his eyes to see Cordelia and Mr Logan running to meet him. "Oh, he passed the test. I knew he would." Cordelia being the younger outran her dad and got to George first hugging him. She released him to look into his face which obviously was still trying to make sense of everything. "I didn't want to think what we'd do without you. Thanks for not failing." Mr. Logan finally came and met them. He patted George on the shoulder. "Thanks son, I was never in doubt that you would pull through. You are about the wisest lad I've ever come across." "Thanks sir....but I still don't get it. What just happened." "Oh! You were the chosen one! It is required that everyone pass a test of purity before allowed entrance into Ingord and you were chosen to represent us." "But I could bet it was really her, only she didn't look so cute with a deep slash on her head. It was....to be milder, graphic." "Oh really...?" "You don't know about it?" "No, I don't. We weren't allowed into the details.” “Well, it was horrible…and it was Theodore who did it. I mean he literally stabbed Cordelia on the head!” “What matters is that it wasn’t real, or was it?” “I guess not…” he said scratching the back of his head lightly. “…and he then he tried to strike a bargain with me saying if I gave him the orb, he was going to restore your condition. Can you imagine that?” This got Cordelia wide-eyed. “And what was it?” she asked looking at him with eager anticipation. George turned to Mr. Logan to help him out as he didn’t know how Cordelia would act to his choosing to save Alexius over her very self. She took the answer from his silence and turned her back on him obviously disappointed. “Get me inside. I’m so ditching you when I make new friends.” George wasn’t happy too. It wasn’t as if he had jumped and made the conclusion. He hadn’t before he got here but knowing Cordelia even that wouldn’t pacify her anger. He shrugged his shoulder as he brought the orb out of his pocket. 1 Like |

He looked into the orb and it seemed to be ululating, an indication of an emotion. He couldn't quite make it out. "Come see Mr. Logan!" Mr. Logan hurried up to meet him. "It just started making this sound. Its different and I can't don't understand. I hope its not dying?" Mr. Logan took a hold of it and tried to listen in. He couldn't make out any thing either. He handed the orb back to him. "I'm sorry I don't seem to recognize that but Cordelia might!" Then he turned and bade her. "Please Cordelia, I think you might be of help here." She got up reluctantly and then she snatched it from him bathing her eyes on him. He smirked and backed off allowing her try her best. Mr. Logan had said she had been drawn to orbs from birth and had played with so many of them. She could even tell the difference in them. They watched her expression as she held it onto her eyes and then her ears. Her expression remained the same. Then, she suddenly had a confused look and this drew Mr. Logan and George together. "I think it was trying to say something to all of us. Like a message directed at more than one person. That's why he wouldn't use a whisper. He had to howl." It stopped and this made them all peek into it as she held it in her palm. A light was emanating and its radiance kept increasing from glimmers and they all were sucked in unable to pull off until it overwhelmed them. George fell backward as though something had pushed him and he was falling backward. He closed his eyes to absorb the shock. His back touched down but instead of pain, he felt something soft. He hadn't expected that. He opened his eyes and saw a shocker. Beauty wasn't even the word. This was paradise. His paradise. The well manicured flowers and the richly green lawns which were a complete complement of the flowers had him lost. The flowers had been planted in their variety; the agaves were planted in rows adjacent to Queen of the Philippines. It was exactly as he had seen in one of his dreams, the place where he had thought to remain forever. There were palms to provide shade and he specially loved the golden palms. It reminded him of the gardener's daughter whom he had met once or twice and played with when her father was attending to the care of the flowers. He wondered about her but didn't let his thought dwell there. He let his hands caress the green bush flowers which had been pruned to perfection planted as avenue. He breathed in the air that the sweet isoria had fragranced. Oh, how he loved this place. This truly was what freedom smelt like and he liked it. "George, you've got to keep moving or you'd get lost." He was wrecked away from his day dreams and he frowned as he ran up to meet them. Mr. Logan seemed to know exactly where to go as he led them down all hallway. There were so many people. Just as he was about to call to Mr. Logan and Cordelia to wait for her, a hand drew him back. He turned to see a dude with a face perfectly chiseled. He had green eyes and straight short hair that was blonde. "Were are you up to? That hallway's for the packers. It leads out of here back to the realms of commons." "That can't be. My family just went down there." "Family? You can't be serious. I see you're new here. You must have met the imitators." George's mouth opened as he tried to form the words. He didn't know what to say and so he shut them up. The dude looked into his eyes and then spoke when he saw George wasn't going to speak. "Lemme show you around, by the way, my name's Dathan and I'm one of the sons of Thorank" |

George introduced himself but deliberately left the 'Prince' out and thankfully Dathan didn't seem to care. He noticed the way Dathan held on tightly to what seemed like a staff. It was oak-made and had been painted with a very fine wood polish and had the golden brown luster which was a good complement of his stick. He had let the collar sleeveless shirt he had to stand like he was some gangster and hadn't really cared to button up. He took each stride with an air of ease with a blend of grace and George had the feeling he was important or at least thought himself to. He seemed to notice George staring at him and weaned a half pound smile. "You won't get lost with me I promise you." George nodded. "I'm hoping on that!" George said not looking his way. He noticed they were headed for a lonely path away from the buzzing crowd into the more serene environment where he could hear the trickling of water. He noticed that the path didn't seem to go further and wondered why he had brought him here. "What brings you here George?" George scratched his head as he ransacked his brain for a worthy answer. "I came looking for answers." "To what?" "Well, answers to the many questions I've been having since childhood." He broke from staring at him and then swallowed, audibly. "Its not unusual to find people here looking for solutions to problems they have, or think they have but I haven't quite seen one as young as yourself. What do you hope to achieve?" "Well, nothing much. Just want to see things clearer." "You talk mature for someone your age. How old are you again?" "I never told you my age!" "Well, you can now," he said with a shrug and casted a piercing gaze at him as though trying to suck the answer from him. When he saw George wouldn't talk, he heaved the staff he'd been holding. "I could force the answer out of you, you know but for some reason, I'm being restrained." Restrained? What was this guy talking about? He talked as though someone was controlling him, or was he communicating with an invisible being, psychic? It wasn't bizarre to see someone like that after all he had said it was an unusual place. What could the staff do? He now saw that it was emitting a radiance the color of lavender. He had the feeling that it was no ordinary piece of art, that stuff must have compelling powers. Just as he thought Dathan was going to point it at him, he heard footsteps approach and watch him lower the staff. "I see you are still brandishing your newly acquired toy!" This came from a lady with a boyish frame but with the grace and dimple of a damsel. She rode on her feet when she spoke. He thought he saw some muscle but she was fleshy there where the biceps should be. She had auburn hair which came back in a pony tail. Her eyes shone lapiz lazuli which were in sync with her silvery necklace that were firmly tucked in her subtly formed cleavages. Two others stood beside her, a lady, an inch or two taller but no more courageous. She was more behind than beside her. She had small lips, pinkish and had eyes that looked like she was going to cry any minute. Her skin was tanned and she had nice long hair which she let fall to her shoulder. He noticed that the gown she wore which were a little below her knees had been a small hole at the side and it was difficult to tell if it was her perceived ideal of fashion or an indelible remains of the aftermath of an encounter. The other guy to the left of the 'bold' girl was the perfect description of roundish. He was a pound fatter than his pants could carry and so he was left looking like the failed experiment of an over-ambitous tailor. And the way he wielded the stick in his hand, constantly re-gripping told him that he had to be the weakling of the group. Just scream and he'd be the first to be in flight, at least a yard ahead of the others. He wondered how he'd look running for he had been made to pay for a fat body with wobbly thin legs. Dathan spoke. "Were you guys following me. You could get hurt one of these days." "By who?" She turned around as though expecting someone to show up. It was a way to mock him. She sniggered and said. "We all know that if it weren't for your toy, you'd be as weak as a leaf." "That's not true. I'm a son of Thorank and you know what that means. I'm going to lead someday and I'll make you eat your words, you just watch." "Till then. For now, you could just save us the trouble of having to hear your rants. Its becoming too irritating these days." Dathan was unable to reply. He looked defeated and George wondered if he so easily gave up or wasn't in the mood today. "What have we got here?" The lady said turning to George. She eyed him like a cat eyeing a rat she no doubt, thought would make a nice meal. He was unfazed though. "I'm George." "George?" She drummed on her teeth as though trying to come up with a decision. "New? I haven't seen you around which is abnormal for I can almost certainly saw I know every face I've seen. Yours doesn't ring a bell, not even a modicum bit." "I'm new...and lost!" "Where you with anyone?" "Actually...yes. With a lady and an old man, her dad." "Hmmm....you could be lucky to meet them when we bathe in the truth stream. It will tell if you're to be trusted." They moved towards a path out of the garden and came to what seemed like a pool. "This is the true gate to Ingord. When you dip, if you're true, we'll meet on the other side, otherwise, its good bye from here." It Nora, was the 'boss' lady who spoke as she dipped in the water. George thought she was going to pop her head any moment but she never did. Instead, the other girl followed suit followed by the guy who looked a little scared. Thereafter, Dathan beckoned on him to move as he wanted to be last to try but George protested. "I can't go there. I don't know what would happen to me." "Its nothing to fear. Or do you have bad intentions concerning the city or its inhabitants?" "Of course not! Like I said, I came in search of answers." "Then you have nothing to worry about. Of you go." But George still was reluctant which got Dathan pissed and he using his staff sent a current down George's spine which pushed him in the river. Under water, George felt the cold water on his skin. It sent a shrill to his brain. He felt for his pocket to ensure Alexius was still there. He was, in the orb form but it felt strangely warm and the heat grew steadily. It began to burn his palm and strangely his hand was glued to it. It was as though it was dissolving into his palm. It began to burn with a stinging effect. He made to shout but only managed to gulf water in. He began to go down, sink towards the bottom of the pool. |

A sense of ease enveloped him and it was so soothing, idyllic. It just seemed like this was the right thing to do. For the first time in as long as he could remember, everything was going to fit in their place. There'd be no chaos, no chasing after shadows, no fantasies. The real deal had finally arrived in a censer crested with gold. Death. At the thought, something sparked like the interstices that had been in his brain had suddenly closed up allowing the two nerve endings to once again join in a disharmonious commensialism. It didn't quite feel right and he began to kick as though the vigorous motion of his legs in the water would force them to once again seperate. But were they evil? If two things could join so perfectly, then, perhaps, they were made to be for it had been an excellent fit. Was it right to accept death when you had the chance to fight against it? To have a say even if it were just a modicum bit. At the instant he was supposed to hit the bottom of the pool, a understanding came to him, with the clarity of crystal, that if he didn't fight the pseudo-pleasantness that came with dying, he'd be gone, wasted. This though didn't quite do the charm and he let himself flow with the current but in split seconds, he remembered the people whose destinies he shouldered. If he allowed himself to be cheaply carried away by the amateur hands of death, many more lives, some probably more demanding than his would be swept away. He would be forever remembered----- ----as the one who never fulfilled destiny, who let his people down. He spiraled up suddenly, his strokes in tandem with his upthrust. and finally he sighted what seemed like a glimmer of light and headed for it. He noticed movement in the water and stroked faster and just as he was about to surface, he felt something so cold hold unto his ankle and pull him down. He fought hard with all his might but the grip was strong. He was flung down and as he fell he saw its face cause it couldn't have been humane. It had the beak of a fish with greenish eyes that felt so cold, it had a loose tongue that hung out of its mouth as black as the remainder of its face. Its body was as thin as a tadpole's and greatly elongated with a slimy feel to it and it also had webbed feet. As it glided in the water, its tongue dangled from side to side and a shriek with a very high pitch escaped its mouth. He had to put his hands to his ears otherwise he would go deaf. When he opened his eyes, he saw that they had increased in numbers. Now standing before him was not just one, or two, or even three of these disgusting and mean looking creatures but actually eleven and they gazed at him with a look so piercing it could rip the soul apart. He wondered what they were going to do to him. They looked hungry and what with the way they all were constantly yawning---or at least, he saw their mouths open that way---they sure were going to rip him apart. SUPER IN A RIVER. Brilliant. He braced himself. If he was going to die, he'd put up a fight. He'd want the news bringing his death to show anything but cowardice. It would have an inclusion that would show he didn't just walk up to the cooking pot and handed his killers the killing knife, an Isaac all over again. The headlines would read thus; "Amidst his remains, bones, skull and teeth laying idly on the bed of the Ingordian stream, several decaying mass of what looked like the keepers essence could be found floating, an indelible epitome of an epic battle" Suddenly, they began to flay with a dreamy-like motion and something about that just didn't seem right. He watch as they reduce in body mass by a great deal. He had a feeling they were doing this to ease their movement, a preparation of an arduous encounter. He began his own preparation too. "Piscificio!" He developed fins and gills to aid his movement and breath and scales on his eyes to avoid any form of impairment. Their leader had starting its tongue-dangling again and George knew that the whistle would soon be blown signaling the start of this epic battle; man versus hungry-looking ugly creatures. |

It is said the morning sun brings hope for another day. It could be right but what's there to hope for in a world where everything seems so unsettled? One moment you could be bubbling with life and enthusiasm and the next, so heavy from a sorrowful heart. How easily we lose our joy, like a valuable currency in the hands of a toddler. Let the dirge play and fills our voids; the only thing we are certain about is that death must one day visit us all. Who can find lasting joy in the midst of nothingness? All we hear is the silence that bemoans our soul, tearing at the very core of our existence. But hey, one must continue to strive. A day could be all required to bring the salvation that has now become our desperate cry. #MadeOfMore! While I my have been away from the literature ection for a while, my heart has always been here and no matter how many times I go away, I won't stop till Ivee seen this project concluded.
