MEDICAL DOCTORS SET FOR A SHOW DOWN TO PREVENT MED LAB SCIENTIST POSTGRADUATE COLLEGE. STRATEGIES INCLUDE: Dear All, For our information please Item A - Attention SOGON Item B - Attention NMA Secretariat Item C - Attention Nigerian Cardiac Society Item D - Attention The Orthopedic Surgeons Item E - Attention our brothers in Psychiatry Items H I - Attention ASSOPON - Behold the short cut to becoming consultants. We should not be surprised if Ghana must go have been processed Item J - Attention Nigerian Society for Haematology and Blood Transfusion The desperation of these people knows no bound Tunji Omotayo NMA Ekiti Dear All, This is an opportunity for both the Nigerian Society for Haematology and ASSOPON to properly brief the leadership of the NMA national on the DANGERS of establishing Postgrad College for laboratory scientist. This is because in a few years they will be brandishing fellowship which they will claim is equal to both the West African and National Postgraduate Fellowships and thus they should be appointed consultants. This will be followed by National Postgraduate college of Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Optometry e.t c.our arguments against this should include: 1. They are technical cadre staff and they do not need any Postgraduate qualification 2. Even if they do they can go for MSc and PhD which are already exiting in Nigerian Universities 3. The Cost implication to government will be unbearable as they will request that their trainees be employed and paid Just like resident doctors I believe Dr. Iregbu and his team will represent us well God save Nigerian Health sector Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan MBBS (ABU) FMCPath Department of Haematology Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria, Nigeria Here are the bills for public hearing on the 16th of July 2014 at the House of Representatives. Please pass on your concrete suggestions on what should be our defence at the HOR. All suggestions should be sent directly to keniregbu@yahoo.co.uk, ibekwets@yahoo.com, tunebg@yahoo.com, and NOT to any groupmail (whether ASSOPON or NMA or MDCAN). In addition SOGON, PAN, Psychiatrists Association, Family Physicians, MDCAN, an all other affiliates of NMA and all other professionals associations should make submissions so that they can speak at the public hearing. We should all be prepared for a MASS movement to the National Assembly. Please contact NMA Sec Gen, VP-1 or the undersigned for further enquiries Dr Kenneth C. Iregbu MBBS, MSc, MPH, FMCPath, FWACP (Lab Med) Consultant Clinical Microbiologist/Parasitologist & Infectious Diseases Physician National Hospital Abuja, Nigeria 234- 805 493 2992 |

Nigerians need a very big chain to chain this small gods call NMA because they are becoming nuisance to prevent them from dancing naked in the market square, they are really embarrassing themselves, I pray they succeeded in mobilising themselves to this public hearing and behave like animals like they always do and they should expect nothing less than embarrassment, since NMA have no shame, they think Nigerians don't know left from right. 1 Like |

We have post-graduate colleges of Medical lab Science and Postgraduate Institutes of Biomedical Science in U.K and advanced countries. Even the Americans offer Doctor of clinical lab science as a basic degree. Why do these allopathic guys think it's their duty to keep every person from acquiring professional knowlege?. Why are these group of people savagely even to extent of asking their members to hide their payslips from their spouses as they fear it might fall into JOHESU hands? If these allo-doctors have their way they will ban every other Nigerian from "speaking good grammar" or even wearing good suits and then happily call them illiterates. When their colleague abroad even encourage and even donate towards the educational development of other health professionals. These guys are savages in warcoats. Quote me. Well the truth is-I have never seen anywhere savagery toppled Knowlege. Their efforts to limit other professionals and keep them in perpetual slavery in the health sector is comparable to 17th century slavery. It cannot stand the test of time. My dear colleagues, let's keep exposing them, let Nigerians see them for who they really are---->pre-pleistocene, dinosaur-age savages. 6 Likes |

Dnaz: why do we like to copy copy in dis country. did all dese johesu ppl copy from medical students to pass in skul? You copy good things and improve on it but it seems Physicians have been trying to subdue others without improving on theirs. It is really pathetic to see them stooping so low to stay on top. You must be a damn good team leader to continue being on top. I am foreseeing a grand overtake by this JOHESU in no distant time. 1 Like |

I read this letter on medical world Nigeria and I am amazed at the desperation of people. Which consultant is not aware that there already exists the West African Postgraduate Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing which already give out Fellowships to their members. Whoever wrote this is obviously masquerading as a doctor to swing sympathy towards Medical Lab scientists. Even the groups the letter was purportedly sent to shows this was written by someone who has no knowledge of the various groups that exist. We have the Nigerian Orthopaedic Society and the Association of Psychiatrist in Nigeria, it is only a none doctor that would write a letter addressed to our brothers in Psychiatry or the Orthopaedic surgeons. Next time someone wants to forge a document please do your homework and research before going to the press. It just makes one look extremely desperate. 3 Likes |

Post-graduate College of Medical Lab Science should not be established. In their greatest chagrin, their agenda was disdainfully and embarassingly dismissed in the public hearing on the 16th of July. It was really a show of shame! Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, the Chairman House Cmttee on Health stated that the health cmttee in the green chamber was willing to do anything to advance the health sector contrary to the expectation of NMA and NaRD. 1 Like |

YourHealthlabs: We have post-graduate colleges of Medical lab Science and Postgraduate Institutes of Biomedical Science in U.K and advanced countries. Even the Americans offer Doctor of clinical lab science as a basic degree.. @ "yourhealthlab" in as much as the idea that whenever any issue comes up in Nigeria we like to cite d developed nations as an example; which is something that nauseates me to say the least. But be that as it may, could u pls supply evry1 on this forum the link to where on the surface of this earth there is a POSTGRADUATE COLLEGE OF med lab scientist ? I do not mean med lab institute where u can get an MSC thesame way u could get an msc in Nigerian universities .where is a POST graduate COLLEGE of med lab scientist? 2 Likes |

http://www.pathology.uwa.edu.au/courses Follow that link or search through Australia universities website and you will see how medical laboratory scientists and pharmacists share oneness with themselves in academic training and knowledge acquisition. A relationship that can never happen between nigerian doctors and other health professionals because they feel they are bigger than all and more important |

Zeus777: U want to know where a post graduate college of/for Medical Laboratory Scientist is? In the UK a typical post graduate college is the Royal college of pathology https://www.rcpath.org/discover-pathology/i-want-a-career-studying.html |
Re: Nma plan To Stop The Implementation Of Med Lab Scientist Postgraduate college by allycat: 5:45pm On Mar 31, 2016 |
nelszx: First and foremost a pathologist is a physician that has specialised in pathology. This college you are quoting primarily trains physicians, you can become a Fellow by publishing or honorary without a non medical degree. You cannot as a Laboratory Scientist do a residency in pathology to become a Fellow of tye royal college of pathologist. |

You can be a Clinical scientist or a Biomedical Scientist in the feild of pathology but that does not make you a pathologist or eligible to sit for their exams, each has its own training programmes. The National Postgraduate College of Medicine in Nigeria also gives fellowships in Pathology and this is only to doctors. |
