Femi aribisala has made the point I've been singing into the ears of everyone that cared to listen. He has made my evening. I really do wish that the moderator who has being blocking me, gets to read this thread over and over and very slowly too. God bless you all 1 Like 1 Share |

mideactive: The 2015 election was not an anti-corruption election. We did not have any political party that presented an anti-corruption mandate to us. The party that won the election was just a makeover of the PDP, I mean the PDP people moved from the PDP to the APC. If they were corrupt when they were in PDP, they became clean when they were in APC. “So there is no mandate against corruption. If President Buhari was determined to fight against corruption, my feeling is that he gave up after losing election three times. “Because the fourth time, he formed an alliance with people who he despised before. And they were not necessarily people who had a track record of being (sic) anti-corruption. So today, I don’t know who is anti-corruption.” Mr. Aribisala said the current fight against corruption by the President Muhammadu Buhari government is merely a fight against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP). “We have to make up our minds if we really want to deal with the question of corruption. If we want to deal with the question of corruption, Nigerians themselves must insist on it and we have to deal with it at the institutional level,” he said. “The institutional fight against corruption that has taken place to the extent that it has, took place under PDP. The institutional structures, even the ones that the present government is relying on, are PDP structures. Whether it is EFCC, ICPC, TSA, all these came under PDP. “In ten months of Buhari’s government, there has been no institutional structure that has been laid against corruption. We have simple had media circuses accusing people of corruption. “You cannot fight corruption with corruption. And corruption is more than just the stealing of money. If you disobey the rule of law, you have corrupted the system. If you create an avenue where you have a big margin between the official foreign exchange rate and the parallel market rate, there’s gonna be corruption. If you have children of the rich getting into the CBN on nepotistic grounds, the corruption is still with you. “If you have a budget that is padded left right and centre, and after this was revealed you passed it and say only a small amount changed in it, and we do not know what is in the new budget, you can’t say you are against corruption. There is no transparency in any of these things.” Mr. Aribisala further stated that the current anti-corruption effort lacks a clear focus. “Because the last 16 years was not just PDP government,” he said. “The legacy parties of the APC were also in power. In fact when the PDP was ostensibly dealing with corruption, it addressed people in its own party. We are not having that now. |

It amuses me whenever I hear people say: we are fighting corruption in Nigeria, I just look at the person and feel sorry for the type of deception they are living under. We are not even close to preparing for the fight yet, we are still in a deep slumber. How I wish I was among those students, Oby and Sagay would have had it really hot. Too bad our students are bereft of what is actually going on in their dear county. 1 Like |

Ozid: If you don't see anything wrong in dinning with tinubu and amaechi while hunting fayose and the rest, your brain needs a check too, PMB was formed alliance with some of the same corrupt elements he so much despised in a last swung bid to get power, his stance against corruption took the greatest hit the moment he did that. The only way he'll make any meaningful progress is to start gradual strengthening of our institutions and getting people to believe in the country once again. All this gra gra only makes things worse, he should just swallow his pride and start applying the goat and yam theory before its too late. |

For those not in government, it's easy to throw tantrums at those in government. Femi Aribisala would be directionless if given a mandate even in the smallest office in this government. He thinks Nigeria is like his law chamber where u run like a private entity. APC said worst about economic viability when in opposition all to pose themselves a better alternative but now that they're in power, eternity doesn't seem enough to drive a simple fuel change. My grouse with femi was saying our corruption level hadn't being that high to warrant unrest like we had in the middle east, so petty in thought, infact, our corruption level is beyond we could endure but for perseverance!! like who want die first!?. It's too early to charge PMB anti corruption drive a hoax and prejudiced for I know that, as time gradually passes, even APC, would be duly represented in EFCC custody. PMB is still monitoring grounds. 1 Like |

freeze001: Femi didn't say anything pragmatic. It is an almost incontrovertible fact that a sizeable chunk of the APC members are corrupt but I don't expect Buhari to do anything about them. I don't expect a holistic anti-corruption crusade, I want an anti-corruption crusade, simple! Shocking, abi? Nah. If Buhari hadn't liased with those people in APC today, we would have been under GEJ's leadership up until now where there would be ZERO anti-corruption war. I dunno about you, but I prefer a selective anti-corruption war to no corruption fight. We keep getting hit with the unbelievable amount of money plundered during Gej's tenure and you think Femi's colourful sophistry exonerates him and his party of wrongdoing? The APC is largely a failing party, but the PDP is a failed party and they spent 16 years at the epicentre of political power in Nigeria validating that assertion time and again. I may have a lot of complaints about Buhari's government, but I have absolutely NO complaint about his anti-corruption war. As for the kleptomaniacs enjoying immunity because of their affiliation to the ruling party, I'll clench my teeth and wait for when someone will begin an a "selective" anti-corruption fight against them; when these disgusting thieves on whose behalf Mr Aribisala now bleats were running amok on our commonwealth, I'm sure they also thought the day of reckoning would never come. It is unfortunate that Mr Aribisala turned a brainstorming session to an opportunity to score dumb political points. Was he saying that PDP's 16 years of not just not fighting corruption but also actively enthroning same was not an abuse of trust as well as our sensibilities? 3 Likes |

mars123: The war against corruption is basically a war against Pdp. Letter has been written to Efcc against Amaechi and nothing has been done. Femi is not in any way defending Pdp. But the issue here is sincerity. Let this government not only focus on one set of people. I agree he should probe Pdp. But it's hypocritical to accuse someone of stealing when another person in your cabinet used 78million naira to build a website. Think about it. Let's be sincere and forget party sentiments. |
