Truth is that the whole Biafran buzz was/is just emotions at play and it's devoid of any critical reasoning. In 1967, Biafra was a necessity for survival, in 2015, mbanu, it's just bitter emotions because GEJ lost an election to a born-to-rule hausa-fulani man. A psychopathic director then comes in the picture and spreads massive head spinning cargoes of inciting propaganda to make Igbos hate their very existence especially in a Nigeria. Sometimes these agitators make it seem like Buhari will rule Nigeria forever, for all we know, PMB may only be there for 4 years. But the emotional outbursts of these misguided ones has set the Igbo nation 50 years backwards in the political arena of Nigeria; it's really sad.
Nigeria is volatile country, nobody can predict what will happen to Nigeria in next 50 years, currently the sharing of oil money bind us together as a nation, there is no love between the people of Nigeria but hatred, nations that hate their self cannot last, Nigeria will divide one day, when people like you believe that your follow country people should relegated to background for 50years and you think that you will have peace, Boko haram, IPOB; Niger Delta militant, Shiite uprising is loading, people will die, even you are not save because you did not tie your life to a tree, People that die in motor accidents, Boko haram bombings, Armed robbery attacks are all human beings, nobody is save in Nigeria. Politicians in Nigeria are all criminals that are just after their pocket both APC and PDP because they know that Nigeria is no mans land.

My thinking is this, the myriad of problems facing Nigeria are very well known to all. Like you rightly mentioned, politicians in Nigeria are criminals and these criminal politicians are not restricted to any tribe or religion, they cut across the entire divide and I believe this dearth of patriotic leadership is the biggest problem. So in view of this, what I do not understand is how someone starts a movement preaching more hate along tribal lines as the solution to the problems. How on earth can dividing the country into a million parts solve these problems you've just highlighted?... Why do Africans always think that further division is a solution to a problem even when from history, it is a known fact that division only leads to further division?

To then compound it all, it is the tribe with the widest economic spread that is calling for this further division; it is a known fact that if there's a division in Nigeria today especially in the way the separatists are calling for it, the biggest economic and social losers would be Igbos but I just wonder why the principal agitators seem to ignore this fact. Sometimes it drives me to believe these main agitators are just never-do-well 'bad-belles' who want to pull all their 'doing-fine' brothers down. We have not sorted our leadership problems in the grassroot (States govts, LGAs and representatives), but someone thinks a division is an automatic panacea for all our problems?

Why are you talking about yoruba when the topic suggest otherwise
cant you guys talk without shouting yoruba

are yorubas stopping from achieving your dreams

Rayhutar:
Nigeria will divide one day, the earlier Yorubas accept that, it will be better for them, Lagos which is their only hope may be taken from them by the Hausa fulanis if they continue to use all their energy to shout one Nigeria. The way Nigeria is structured shows that it must surely collapsed one day. Amodu Bello made it clear to Hausa fulanis that they must reach the Atlantic ocean and conquer it, the last mile 12 fight in Lagos is a message showing that they are the landlords in Lagos. The disintegration will come as a surprise, Nigeria is a volatile country.

@Obailala, I like your write up(I like people who criticize and give reasons for their criticism) but our opinion differs here because i am of the opinion that we will do better as a divided nation,my reasons are as follows:

Our present country has been designed to favour some regions in terms of employment(Quota system)making the other region to be a conquered territory and this alone cripples patriotism and morale of people from that region.

Our present country has made policies that indirectly made the operations and activities of the seaports/airports in the marginalized region to be less attractive compared to the other regions that rapour with the so called super region(Hausa/Fulani).

We will do better as a divided nation because competition among the separated country will come up especially between the old eastern region and old western region and these competition will lead to more developments in the two different countries.

We will do better as a separate countries because we can easily hold our representatives accountable and tell them to their face whatever they are doing wrong(Okorocha speech at chattam House a case study), but if we remain one the corrupt leaders will be jumping all this atrocious act easily because once their tenure elapse they can easily settle in Abuja or leave the country because they know once they go back home that his people doesn't tolerate rubbish(Especially south eastern region, Ezeife of Old Anambra state can attest to this because of what happened to him by his kindreds because he couldn't construct a single road in his village while he was constructing other village roads when their administration were cut short by the military) but as a multi ethnic group made politicians to escape prosecution easily because they can easily instigate their people that he wasn't permitted to work because of other tribe attitude in his ministry/department/portfolio/designate.

As a divided country, i think people will be closer to the government because the area square metre to be governed will be minimized and it will make everybody to easily identify with the federal/state/local govt to sort out the various problems they have(Eg someone from PH can go to Enugu for an occassion/appointment and still return back to PH that same day)been facing as a citizen of that country.

Industries will be promoted more as a divided country because tribalism will be relegated or minimized to the lowest level,if not outrightly eliminated and the government will always promote policies that will favors his people because they have same belief(Eg Igbos are egaliterian in nature while the northerners are oligarch in nature).

As a divided country, ministries(Embassies and federal government structures/offices)will be nearer to the people which will reduce the amount people spent on going to either lagos or Abuja for their visas to travel outside the country.

Lastly, but not the list to be continued later is that as a separate country hidden good talents will begin to emanate/come out because now tribalism is not longer the cankerwarm that will make their God given talents not to be hidden is gone, both the quota, nepotism et al will be gone and when this has taken place you will observe that inventions will begin and technologies will also improve.

So the summary of what am saying is that TRIBALISM has really eaten deep that no remedy can salvage the situation.

You have spoken well, to me I don't really support the disintegration of Nigeria, but the reality on ground is that if quick restructuring of Nigeria is not done, Nigeria will disintegrate because there is too many diverse ethnic group in Nigeria with different cultures, The UK system of government will be the best form of government in Nigeria where 3 countries can emerge and have a common central government like UK that has Scotland,Wales,England and Northern Ireland; Even other countries like China has Macau,Tibet, Hong Kong and Taiwan as part it.

At the bolded, I wonder why Nigeria government cannot build another standard Airport in Kano, Enugu and Port Harcourt and make it very attractive so that if you are flying from Abroad to Nigeria, you fly directly to Kano, Enugu to East, Port Harcourt to SS and Lagos to the West that will create alot of Job, Build a standard sea and river port in Onitsha, Akwa Ibom,Imo, Kogi and Kaduna that will open up inland water transport and reduce the pressure on road transport, like goods and services can be transported easily from Onitsha to Kogi, Kaduna.

The only point I really agree with you 100% is the singular cankerworm called quota system which has held Nigeria backwards for decades. If there is any form of division I would support, it is a north-south divide or pure regionalism and nothing more. Developed and advanced nations across the world are looking for ways to come together and that is for a good reason, however in Africa, all we talk of is division.

I can assure you that the other issue you mentioned such as the government being close to the people etc will not bring about any positive change. I could dare you to point out any society which really got better after division in Africa. We've divided states, we've divided LGAs countless times, but can we really point out how that helped us to get better governance?.... The best governors we've ever had since Nigerian history (e.g. Dee Sam Mbakwe) led the mega states of Imo and Abia combined. Can we say we've had better leadership since those states were divided?.... I'm sure we all know the answer to that to be a capital NO.

The point is simple, there's a serious dearth of leadership, people get to power for the very wrong reasons and the true patriotic and visionary people will never be allowed by even you and I to get into power for some of the most flimsy reasons. No amount of division can solve the problem of leadership deficit.

The very same reason why a Nigeria which could build brand new roads with money from palm oil, cocoa, groundnuts etc, but with much more money made from crude oil, we are struggling to maintain these roads, that same issue is the reason why Nigeria is unable to upgrade those airports at Kano, Enugu and Portharcourt and that is also the reason why all seaports in Nigeria have been allowed to die while we overstress the last surviving ports at Lagos. The problem is a problem of leadership cutting across several zones and states and ethnic groups.

People ask me why i do not support Biafra even though i'm a proud Nwa afo; A homogenous igbo society would be as boring asf. Why? Let's overlook the pretenses for a second, and all the false sense of brotherhood. The bitter truth is that we hate ourselves. A typical igboman is more accommodatiing to a stranger he's met just for a day than a brother he's known his entire life. We feel we are in competition against ourselves always. A typical visit to any igbo village would confirm this truth. Most of the youngmen are running far away from home because most people at home would do anything to make sure they do not succeed. An igboman would prefer to help a foreigner get a job in his office than his own kin.
The crab mentality is the bane of the typical igbo society.

You do not need to look far to see this. You remember the Nairaland Biafrans boycott? and how many of us swore to never ever visit this forum again? and how we went ahead to start our own 'igbo' forums. grin

Those seemingly igbo forums are a typical example of what Biafra would look like if it ever comes to pass.

I followed those forums. From Biafra Republic to Ala Biafra and then Biafra town. The first few weeks every member was high on Biafra. People were trooping in like crazy. One of the forums even had up to 2000 signups in a day. Even Nairaland would be jealous of that stats. Promises were made. Loud members were ranting on how they were going to build a forum that would beat Nairaland hands down. They promised huge sums.

Few weeks down the line, the forum is still active. some members joined, some couldn't bear it and bummed off. The forum remained active. More promises made and none kept.

2 months down the line, the forums have turned to graveyards. All the flare and plomp are gone. people start wondering what the hell they were doing here in the first place. all members flee and return back to the Nigerian forums they all love and leave the wonderful biafran forums to die a slow and painful death.

Biafra republic that used to have 3000 members online can't even boast of 3 users online. Biafratown is really pathetic but i must commend the admin. Dude posted 3000 topics all by himself grin. Ala biafra is dead and gone. embarassed

This is a true reflection of what biafra would look like. After the pomb and flare, the reality starts to bite and people go back to their vomits. But this time around, they might not be as lucky and the vomit might no longer be available to swallow back.

Biafra is boring and i want no part of it. cool

Dude, you just described yourself, and thought you were describing the average Igbo man or woman.

You hate yourself, that is why you might want to remain a second class citizen in one Nigeria, become converted to Arabian life style and religion.

Igbo doesn't hate Igbo. The effect of the lost civil war made some Igbos suspicious of of some Igbo. People like you are the Igbo saboteurs who made some Igbos start to be suspicious of their fellow Igbos.

Ignorance is a disease. U don't know that Igbos merely troop to Nairaland to sell their cases for Biafra to rest of Nigeria. In Biafra online publication, it shall be like a monologue, that is Igbos talking about Biafra and Igbos responding. What do agitators for Biafra gain from such monologue?
Guy park well, make intelligent Igbos waka pass.

You may be living in Lagos, and wouldn't like to lose your earthly business and landed property with breaking dysfunctional Nigeria. Do you ever wonder what shall be the fate of your offspring in one Nigeria?
Guy listen, IPOB so far has silenced those who intimidate and humiliate you Igbo Lagosian: since IPOB demonstrations, those who tell Igbos to go back to their erosion-ravaged southeast, those who threaten you with Lagoon treatment, those who call you visitor in Lagos, visitor in a town in Nigeria which you call your country, they have been silenced, now they struggle for how to keep Igbo in one Nigeria, no more molestation, no more intimidation for your lot.

Guy park well biko. They don't sell intelligence in the market place.

am not igbo but am almost 100% sure the odd people who bore the main hate and tribalism amongst u is anambra state....i heard in igboland some are senior igbos while others are lesser igbos.....i wonder the kind of tribe igbos are...too hateful of themselves..

i even heard Nsukka, Ngwa and Abakaliki people are not regarded as pure igbos..

just try and zone 2019 presidency to Abia, Ebonyi or Nsukka and u will realise how the sharp divisions will be

dont ask me how i know...i schooled in UNN and over there in Enugu i virtually noted all these....i stayed for 5years in Enugu and once u are referred as from Nsukka or Abakaliki u will see how people will deny their place bc of the classification amongst igbos..

one day in class one anambra lecturer asked 'how can fools be given state' referring to Nsukka people seeking for adada state...heard he's now late..may his soul rip

go to north u can never know who is from kano or katsina or kaduna bc they relate as one or even my home place south west...but in south east they will usually classify themselves based on state..

let me stop here...i know igbos too well and thats why i dont give a fvck about their chest beating...

just try and zone 2019 presidency to Abia, Ebonyi or Nsukka and u will realise how the sharp divisions will be

dont ask me how i know...i schooled in UNN and over there in Enugu i virtually noted all these....i stayed for 5years in Enugu and once u are referred as from Nsukka or Abakaliki u will see how people will deny their place bc of the classification amongst igbos..

one day in class one anambra lecturer asked 'how can fools be given state' referring to Nsukka people seeking for adada state...heard he's now late..may his soul rip

go to north u can never know who is from kano or katsina or kaduna bc they relate as one or even my home place south west...but in south east they will usually classify themselves based on state..

let me stop here...i know igbos too well and thats why i dont give a fvck about their chest beating...
Big lie ,The north have more division than the entire Nigeria, fulani gerji kill fulani gida, fulani gergi are yellow in completion while fulani are blacks, Hausa hausa have 9 divisions with no intermarriages between the divisions, Kanuri cant marry Fulani or Shuwa, infact they dont enter the same mosque to pray, fulani have their own mosque, Kanuri have their own mosque, in Kaduna people of northern kaduna and southern kaduna kill each other, in SW; Oworis and Egun kill each other, the rest of yoruba dont marry Ijebu people and Ondo Yorubas. Ogbomosho yorubas see their self as more superior and sophisticated and rest of yoruba hate them, Igbos are the most united tribe in Nigeria, that is why people like you don't have peace in your miserable life, you are always on Internet day and night opening thousands of hatred threads against the Igbos, the more you hate them the more they progress why you are dying of heart attack on top of Igbo people matter.

then i was correct wen i mentioned anambrarians as the ones responsible for igbo unity...am no igbo but i schooled in the east.....by far anambra people are the most tribalistic beings i have ever seen....they even tell Nsukka and abakaliki people that northerners are their brothers ....how can they expect this sub-group to feel wen they malign them..

i just de laugh wen una ipob youths begin rant about biafra up and down
You are a liar, Abakiliki and Nsukka people are not discriminated to the extent the Yorubas are discriminating against the Oworis, Egun, Illejas, Ijebus and Ondo yorubas, infact Yorubas don't intermarry them, instead of that Yoruba will prefer to marry Igbo girl.

am not igbo but am almost 100% sure the odd people who bore the main hate and tribalism amongst u is anambra state....i heard in igboland some are senior igbos while others are lesser igbos.....i wonder the kind of tribe igbos are...too hateful of themselves..
The same way Ogbomosho Yorubas see their self as senior yolobas and rest of yolobas see Oworis, Egun and Illajes as conquered sub Yorubas that are pigs, Ijebu Yorubas are seen as snakes and vampires by the rest of Yorubas, Ondo Yorubas are seen as dejected people.

At least in Igboland Anambra, Imo, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi intermarry, but Yorubas are divided within their self that they don't intermarry among Yoruba states like Igbos.

WRT bold sentence, I must say that, this is the reason why I don't want Biafra. Our people can be very wicked, cheats and selfish; however, if these acts can be curbed I will prefer Biafra to Nigeria.

But this is the exact thing We tell Ibos all the time and they lament and curse! Well, we keep telling you to go back home and declare Biafrat there but you refuse! Now this is why!

@bolded, you shud be deliberate and mention names. That is what makes you a man. No need to hide them. Anambrarians seclusion tendencies is the bane of igbo unity. Period.

Biafra is Dead on Arrival especially as they are banking their hopes on SS.

Are you not brain-dead to believe that Igbos bank hopes on SS for Biafra?

It's going to be a country of the most willing groups in the old southeast region. You can take your Ikwerre region or wherever you come from to whatever country you want to be, including a new country of Arewa Sharia republic.
Have you heard of Beira Corridor? You shall be paid money to have the new country a corridor to the Atlantic ocean.

Be educated. You are not indispensable.

Yoruba is the most upset tribe in Nigeria about Biafra. The reason is that Yoruba is most divided between Christian and Muslim Yoruba.
So the Christian Yoruba is most afraid of Biafra because they know that any New Nigeria comprising the Yoruba and northern Nigeria must end up to become a country governed with sharia criminal laws.

@shachris, Abagworo, Hopeathand, and other non Igbos, as well as non-Biafrans;

You all know that the owner of this blogsite does not permit promotion of Biafra on his site, yet you bring up Biafra discussion here to entertain yourselves and ridicule Biafrans and the Igbo.
Doesn't that suggest that you love backbiting, knowing full well that many Biafrans who truly understand the reasons behind the agitation for Biafra restoration shall not come to argue with you?
Are you not cowards who engage in backbiting?

I was born in the north, did my youth service in Osun state, work for some years in Yoruba land, speak Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, every tribe in Nigeria have their internal tribalism, Hausa-fulani is the worst, because in fulfuda family, the yellow fulani jerji kill the black fulani jida, fulani jida are not nomads, they dont rear cattle's in the bush, Buhari is fulani jerji they are mostly yellow in completion and they live in the bush and rear cows. Hausa can never marry a fulani or Shuwa arabs or Kanuri and inside Hausa family they have 9 divisions, Yorubas have their own tribalism divisions among the Ogbomosho Yorubas who see themselves as superior Yorubas, the Oworis fight Egun, Ijebus and Ondo Yorubas are detested by the rest of Yorubas, Igbos have their own, the Anambra people see their selves as the best of Igbo, Nsukka and Abakiliki peoples are refereed to as backward people by the rest of Igbos, but they intermarry with them, In the order of tribalism between the tribes; The North is the worst followed by the West then the Igbos because there is high intermarriages between the Igbo tribes. In the north Hausa divisions dont intermarry, Egun cannot marry Awori, most Yorubas cant marry Ijebus,Egun,Aworis, Illaje and Ondo Yoruba tribes , infact they will prefer to marry Igbo instead of that
