OSUN STATE: The state of the living spring(Federal govt recognize motto)

GENERAL: Osun state is one of the state of the south western region of Nigeria. Boardered by Oyo state, Ondo State and Kogi state.
Osun state has a population of about 4million people. The major cities in Osun state include; Osogbo(capital), ile ife, Ilesha, ede, Iwo, ikire, ikirun etc.

ECONOMY: The major economy of the state is depended on the govt workers labour force. The people of Osun are also known for their agrarian activity/culture, tie and dye etc.
The economy of the state is low as there is no much industries around.

STANDARD/COST OF LIVING: The standard of living is high and the cost of living is low. In the major part of Osun like Osogbo, ife and Ilesha, Accomodtn could go for as low as #50k-#70k for a self contain apartment while at the rural areas of the state, Accomodtn for CMs is less than that and can even be free. Things like foodstuff, transportation and all other things are very cheap

SOCIAL LIFE: The social life of the state in pretty much on the high side as recent inflocks of clubs, new hotels and various social centers are been witnessed.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES: If you re the business minded type, you will surely find your foot in Osun and enjoy ur business activities but if you re the white collar job type, I doubt if such opportunity awaits you in Osun except for private schools teaching job that pay very little.

Let me conclude that Osun state is "one of the" best states of the southwesth and Nigeria in general. For those coming to Osun for their 1year service, I bet it with you that 80% of you will want to stay back after you might have enjoyed the service year.

If you need navigation guidelines to Osun from any part of the country, kindly let me know so I can provide the little assistance I may have.

Osun a daraa ooooooo

Good afternoon everyone...
Sowie for been away temporary from the city, na money issue ooogrin as you all know say only fine boy no dey do am now grin.
My Oga logodwhiz and crobboy; you've done a great job as per the issue on ground.
I don't know if you can recall that something of this nature was initiated at the beginning of our journey in this city; obviously little/low response was recorded then and am happy that the response gotten this time around has been encouraging.

To the various topic on ground! Please I will need crobboy to retag me of those topics ooocheesy as I've lost the touch of them. Meanwhile, about NY state,Osun state: I will do a little write up about it to add to what miss aduniiwo has done earlier.

Cc: logodwhiz
Crobboy

Yeah, that is our DG!

That money issue, its very essential you make it as much as you can. Its one of the primary reason for the struggle.

Read the post below to find relevant topics for discussion:

Kbs468:

Once again, Good evening Citizens

Yes and straight up without much addo, let's put up ourselves to the latest X-FACTOR challenge here in Golden City as some of Us have already started grin

Interestingly, the challenge is no big deal or new to all of us actually both from our point of view here in
GOLDEN CITY and in the outside world around our walls which is why GRACELANDERS and others that have anything to do with NYSC too would be welcomed whole heartedly as Key Figures and participants around our dinning Table this time around grin

And here we go, although the next line below is to encourage us all in participating accordingly. Alright,

Note:
¤* It's not COMPULSORY that you must respond with the exact figure or degree of imput so that you won't be discouraged to say something or contribute your quota

¤* You can also choose to give your response part by part instead of typing out a whole at once because some persons have phobia for long commentary/Views/opinion or idea postage

Up next is the X-FACTOR challenge as our line of discuss and is presented as below

1.
WHAT ARE THE 20 THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW AND/OR DO AS GRADUATES or BEFORE SERVICE ELAPSES TO YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND ADVICE
2.
HELP MENTION 5 THINGS TO DO IN 5 DIFFERENT STATES THAT CAN IMPROVE ONE'S STANDARD OF LIVING AS A CORPS MEMBER

This 2nd one can be structured with respect to building a career path during service year, employability and job creation, relationships, etc

3. KINDLY WRITE ON THE CULTURAL SETTINGS OF YOUR PRESENT STATES OF RESIDENCE WITH RESPECT TO THE PREDOMINANT SOURCE OF INCOME, RECREATIONAL AVENUE AVAILABLE SUCH AS PARKS, TOURIST SITES, etc

In this line.. we are trying to reintroduce the talk about our present state of basement again So that we can refresh our minds about each state of the federation again

4. IF YOU ARE PRIVILEGED TO BE THE PRESIDENT FOR ONE WEEK, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE ABOUT NIGERIA?

5. IF YOU ARE THE NYSC Director General for one year, WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU ENVISAGE AND PROMOTE ABOUT THE SCHEME?

6. IF YOU ARE THE Minister for Education, WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU EFFECT IN SALVAGING NIGERIA'S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM?

In Trying to buttress our explanations, we should bear in mind that

The essence of the No.2 is to have the 37 states discussed out so that citizens can have an idea about the nature of the states that we have relative to NYSC which would help enhance preparation for entrepreneurship during service year.

While For No.3, 4 5 & 6, many Nigerians "KNOW" (in abstract) what they think is the responsibility of leaders as it relates to their present predicament, hence the importance of this discuss as our MENU for the time being. grin

Sign: Attorney General and Minister of Information, Golden City Republic for the Executive Cabinet

I trust you among many elites to have something of worth to contribute.

Looking forward to benefit from your numerous contributions.

Thanks for your usual Cooperation!

Life after youth service can be very difficult for most youth, job hunting could be an uphill task for most fresh graduates considering the fact that it is a game of the survival of the fittest. Also, most of our school system have not done so well in preparing us for the competitive labor market, that's why most youth find life difficult and unbearable during these period. Below are list of things we must know and also do during our service year, not just during our service year incorporating some of these in our daily lifestyle will go a long way to help us ni life.

SAVE
Many youth sees the service year as a time to flex n flirt, I cannot over emphasize on the importance of savings, don't be a spendthrift, differentiate between your needs and wants. You don't have to meet up to anyone, rather set your goals n trying meeting up to each of them(believe me when u do that, u won't have time try to impress anyone). Also remember that immediately after school most of our parent start looking up on us for one thing or the other (especially people from humble home), no pocket money for you again, ur younger ones will start expecting one or two things from you(worst if u are d first child). The hustle don start be that ooo

THE KIND OF JOB YOU WANT:
The first thing you must do is to take a decision on the kind of job you want. You can even stream line it down to the list of companies you would want to work for, that way you know what you are preparing for and how to go about it. Any job is no job, take a decision today because it will determine a whole lot of things in your preparation. Also carry out a research on the companies you would like to work with, get to know one or two things about them, their history, mission, vision etc

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE :
Acquire at least one professional certificate . This is why you should decide first on the choice of career/job you want as it will help you decide on which professional course to go for. Don’t be a party to the band wagon mentality that is prevalent among corps members. Everybody is going for project management, therefore must you too go for project management? Everybody in your lodge is enrolling for HSE, so you too must enroll for HSE. Don't be a fool. Get to find out the professional certification that best suits your dream job.

SKILL AQUISITION:
please learn a new skill. Get your hands on something, so when they ask you, what can you do? You can provide a definite answer, instead of just telling them what you studied. What you studied and what you can do are two distinct things altogether. This is very important especially for my friends with a background in social sciences. A good skill acquired could also be handy pending when the dream job comes.

CHANGE YOUR WARDROBE
dude please dress like your dream job. Starting building a professional wardrobe from that small alawee. It’s not the time to spend your money on another dirty jean, combat pants, or what have you. Get yourself a cutting edge professional suit (don’t bank on your convocation suit to do the job). It doesn’t cost much. For guys, invest on good ties, cufflinks, shoe, shirt and the ladies dress responsible ditch all these olosho looks.

PREPARE YOUR CV
Some of us have already done that, and for the one that haven't, it's time, and please avoid telling unnecessary lies on your CV just to impress be yourself!

LETTING GO OF SOME RELATIONSHIPS
At this point, we will have to let go of friends that drain us, that have no positive impact on us. Surround yourself with people that influence you positively. This is also applicable to our love life, leave that girl or dude who doesn't influence u or support your dream( there own na to chop n play love upanda, be realistic, no be love una go chopgrin), don't let anyone be a distraction to you or stop u from reaching your goals.

LEAVE YOUR FAMILY HOUSE
Especially to the guys, that why savings is of utmost important, get yourself a small place, fend n do things by yourself, it will make u more independent.

START UP SMALL BUSINESS
During the service year, one can start up small business that doesn't require much capital, or doing of tutorials to earn small money, it will go a long way to help.

JOIN GROUPS THAT CAN INSPIRE AND HELP YOU
We can find such groups online, hear their stories, one can even get good connection from such group. Let their positive mind lift your mind.

VOLUNTEER WORK
Doing volunteer work, will give you experience and also connection, so long it doesn't inconvenience you.

MENTOR
If you don't have one, try and do, having a mentor acts like a driving force, because you will want to do and do more than your mentor

GOD FIRST
In all always remember that those who go to the Most High will always go high in life!

Not upto 20 though buh I pray it helps.

Wow.. this is more than enough.. thanks dear

Kogi state is located around d north central regions of nigeria, created out of kwara state and benue state. It is endowed with great potentials expecially tourist attractions due to the presence of the confluence river niger nd benue and d role d state played during d colonial era. It has diverse local governmnt areas nd ethnic groups , Among the dorminant ethnic groups are igala, ebira nd d okuns. Nysc orientation camp is located @ kabba bunnu local governmnt area(isaya camp), life here is an easy one especially for C.M who loves jolly jolly, pipeborne water, electricity amongst odaz, though d weather condition here fit melt ur hair cream turn am to water. Among the best L.G to serve are:
Kabba
Ogori/Magogo
okene
Ijumu
Ajaokuta
Idah
Mopa
Yagba East.
Asaya camp is a lovely place especially the mammy market there are lots of fun to catch and remember you are having just
17days, so catch fun. Also to the ladies dont let anybody deceive you with posting ish, have seen graduates been cajouled and messed up by illiterate soldiers and man o war personel cos of posting. It is advisable you
relate directly with NYSC staff, there is no big deal in approaching the HOD mobilization to discuss yout posting.
I am somewhere around.

Hmm hmm hmm... Clears my throat, make I answer question one...
If I were to be the nysc DG for one year I will ensure:
1. That male corp members only are posted to girls secondary school only.
2. That bulbs and any other form of illumination in the orientation camps are switched off as from 7PM in d evening till dawn while corp members go to bed by 11PM in the night...na just for security reasons o.
3. That no PCM gets any of the states in his/her geopolitical/sociocultural zone as his/her state of deployment.

Lol..

4rm my point of view
President for a year. I will try and change our light generation method to dat of wat china uses. Make it complusory for most companies to be organising summer internships for youths @ different sectors. Put in place measures to reduce loothing of money.

Crobboy ok tnx let me add to wat Jubreal wrote
Hmmm I will only be able to talk abt badagry lga, ojo lga, amuwo-odofin lga, ajeromi lga nd oriade lga
Under this local government area is whr we ve ajegunle, satellite town, maza-maza, festac town, iyana iba, okomaiko, abule ado, abule oshun, ijanikin etc sha house are quite expensive in dese places, don't knw much abt ajegunle tho. Food stuffs r quite cheap @ iyana iba. Light is partially ok. There is access to two shopping mall one @ festac and one at apapa.
And as we all knw lagos z rilly crowded.

To me lagos 4 corpers is fun if u ve someone to live wit 4 free if nt u ve to hustle for more money.

Datz all I can think of right nw. Hope I tried crobboy

I am to become the president ghen ghen.. .. .
If I start listing many wrongs I wan to right, u ppl will get tired of reading buh first and foremost this what I will do.

Since I won't really have power to detect who represents a constituent in d Senate or house of assembly buh I won't have recycled politicians in ma ministers, hell no!
I will scout for young Nigerian doing while in their field and making us proud home and abroad. We have many Nigerians in the relms of affairs in some countries abroad, I will lure them home to come and duplicate same.

Ministerial appointment will no longer be a thing use in compensating some people. Imagine a 2 time governor or senator being appointed as a minister. No I need a team of people that can give their all to see a better Nigeria, people that are passionate about this country.

If ma team is right, then we can face anything and build a better Nigeria.

THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW OR DO AS GRADUATES.

1. Regardless if you have a job or not - you are going to see Facebook statuses of your pairs celebrating and proclaiming the opportunities they have snatched. It may make you feel like crap or jealous because it will remind you that you need to get ur act together. Be calm, use their successes as tool to be inspired to achieve ur own accomplishments. Also don't forget to click the "like button" on their Facebook status. They deserve some public affirmation from a friend.

2. Family members will pressure u by asking "why don't you have a good paying job? What are you planning to do now? How are you going to pay back all ur loans?"
Just smile and laugh because ur own self-positivity will be your closest ally. If you want to hide away and cry- it helps to tear up in the shower or on a friend's shoulder.

3. You might take a job that you are over "over-qualified" for. Don't worry if that happens because it's about the journey to ur goal. Everything will add up and the truth of your work will always ring out in the end. So humble yourself, be appreciative and own up to ur opportunities, you will go far.

4. You will run into people and mentors who will offer you help, tell you that they have great potential & use fancy words to inspire you. Take their advice in strides & use it as tool to take action. They believe in u because they know you are capable - show them you are.

5. Let NO one tell you college was a waste of time. Look back @ the network of people you are connected with, the classes that opened up your mind to the understanding of how to learn, & the outside experience s ( even work ) that were offered to give you skills necessary for your future. Basically, take everything you learned from college and apply it to your life.

6. Moving out and saying goodbye to your friends will happen suddenly. Take the time to obtain their snail address and send them a small note or gift to show how much you appreciate their friendship.
You will never know when you will need each other's help.

7. Learn to love urself because it is the main thing that will keep you going. It feels even better to keep someone near you - who does love you. It 'll help.

8. Save every penny that comes your way. You never know when those unexpected emergencies will arise or better yet, when you are required to fly somewhere expensive for that final ground interview.

9. No matter what I just suggested, it doesn't really matter because at the end of the day, it's up to you to make sense of everything. But I know you will be just fine because we are all here to support each other.

If I am likely to be the minister of education for one week, I will ban education and distribute hoes & cutlasses to every home so that everyone would practice farming as a means of survival.
Feel free to travel abroad if you wanna study.
