FG To Launch N59.7bn Youth-in-agriculture Scheme In September by maximunimpact(m): 1:52am On Apr 04, 2016 |
Dr Nteranya Sanginga, Director-General, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), on Sunday said the Federal Government would launch N59.7 billion Youth-In-Agriculture Scheme in September. Sanginga, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan, said the scheme would be sponsored by the federal government and African Development Bank (AFDB). The director-general said IITA would train those enrolled in the scheme, adding that beneficiaries would be trained on how to make agriculture a business with good networking. “The programme tagged “Enable Youth Empowerment Agribusiness programme, will engage youths in agribusiness for 18 months to enable them learn how to make agric business plan. “Each will be given between 25,000 US Dollars and 300,000 US Dollars as loan to start a business. “The programme started by IITA in 2012, was taken over by the federal government and AFDB to create employment in agric sector. “To support this objective, the programme will be extended to 36 states and Abuja in September. “After the programme, we expect the youths to become chief executive officers of factories, companies and creators of jobs rather than job seekers,” he said. Sanginga urged the youths to develop positive mindset in agriculture and take good advantage of the programme. “They should be serious with the training because at the end of it only those who did well will be rewarded,” he said. http://www.financialwatchngr.com/2016/04/04/fg-launch-n59-7bn-youth-agriculture-scheme-september/ 7 Likes 2 Shares |

I call this the Agricultural version of YouWin. If not for ineffectiveness of the Ineffectual Buffon (IB), the previous govt should av focused on Agriculture wholly. I say this because the electricity to power equipments, roads to move, and border control to help keep smugglers of cheaper alternativer away and spur on industrial growth was grossly lacking. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Why launch a new programme when you have good existing ones. YOUWIN was a very good umbrella programme that was raising young & dynamic enterprenurs, why scrap it & at the same time relaunching same under a different name & launching something similar for agriculture alone. What is the sense in launching a new agriculture programme for youths in 6 month from now when you could have retained the laudable YOUWIN programme & incorporate the youths-4-agriculture project as an arm of it. APC is a scam. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

So finishing in Boko Haram is also in the future? Do not forget we are waiting for our useless NAss to provide details of the 2016 budget bill so that the government can sign and start implementing it. omogin: 1 Like 1 Share |

Those that read Accounting, Economics, and even those with MBA, PhD in Accounting were denied work at CBN, whereas their wards that were begged to read Physical and health education, Adult education, Yoruba, Igbo... Were the one managing CBN... Just tell me why the country economy won't be crumbled. Lalasticlala.. Go and sharp your cutlass. Its time for farming business. 3 Likes |
