Nogen: Congratulations Wolefola. Just learnt a new one. Scan your receipts to the Embassy and one would not need to carry receipts about anymore. Good one! Don't mind them jor They asked me to drop off my receipts when exiting so they won't ask me for it again I did but guess what they still asked upon re entry |

Mumtwins2: Hello everyone .... Please I am a little confused how can one book a return ticket , do I leave it open or book a date for return cos I am really confused . Thanks in advance You have to choose a date for return while booking your ticket. Pick a date say from three weeks to one month after EDD or thereabout depending on how soon you want to return and how fast you can process baby's documents |

Hello all, Thanks to all mamas and papas in the house. I've been following 3 threads but ended up with this. TTC thread & traveling to Canada.
Tot of using Houston direct, but the stories na wa. My visa application has California then Houston.should I still go throught that route? Am worried about the cost as I want to go with my mum. The question I had for mum's visa has been answered. I've started the passport, hopefully will book interview date this month.
Am a single mum and I've seen post on baby papers needs both parent consent.what do I do in this situation? 1 Like |

I concur! The cash started it all. Austine2020: Congrats on your successful POE. This Houston is sometimes difficult,But it could have been easier if you had enough cash with you.Because thats what started the whole long interview,Because when she was arguing with you about why you didnt make any payment to the intown suit, only to find out again that u didnt have enough cash with you and that escalated the whole interview more. Secondly u did well to stick to your initial answer about Good healthcare instead of changing your answer. All in all,Houston is a difficult POE which after all the questions u can still make it in,than Chicago that can send someone back after drilling someone with questions. 1 Like |

Hmm guys let's be careful with this scanning receipts to embassy. Because one person was asked to do it does not mean it applies to everyone.
Also it may backfire, what about people that for some reason or the other have to use a payment plan (twins, complicated births, NICU bills) and don't have complete set of receipts yet?
Very soon it will now become a condition to renewal of visa post birth. Let's not create a precedent and turn it into something similar to the letter of intent.
Just hold your receipts when you travel (in fact gum it to your passport if you have to, lol).
In any case even if you send it to the embassy, you will still hold it when you travel.
These are just my thoughts. 23 Likes 1 Share |

These are just my thoughts. I agree. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I have been carrying receipts for over 4 years and I've never been asked (interview, Dropbox, point of entry.... ) but I still carry for the one day they'll ask. I've also never sent change of intent sometimes I think people just send it unecessarily ( just my opinion) Let's not start emailing receipts, it may become a criteria for renewal and not everyone has a straight forward birth. Some have payment plans. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

I did o My Sister, typed a mail to you in response and it kept bouncing back. So i wrote just "hi" and it went. I am seriously considering Arik now because i checked my dates and for 3 of us to NY, its 640k. If I add local flight to El Paso we will be looking at like 900k all in. Delta for 3 of us to El Paso is N2m. United is about 1.5m. The reason i narrowed it down to these 3 airlines is because they are the only ones that will involve 2 flights. All others are a minimu of 3flights. I spoke to a friend who said that the service (Arik) is crappy but their take off and landing is very smooth and that some seats might not have in flight entertainment. So am wondering if they dont have inflight entertainment, will that kill me? Sebi I will kukuma carry two fully charged tablets and load some series on them...abi how you people see am? Afterall the flight is shorter than all the European and Arabian airlines... omodadi:

If you are expecting a single baby, you can book your return leg for 4weeks after the 40th week. That way if baby doesnt come toll 42nd week you will still have 2weeks to quickly process your baby's documents. This depends on how quickly birth certificate comes out in the state you are going though. If you are expecting multiples, they will certainly come before 40 weeks, so factor that in. Maybe 38 + 4weeks. Mumtwins2: Hello everyone .... Please I am a little confused how can one book a return ticket , do I leave it open or book a date for return cos I am really confused . Hi Everyone,
My very first post here and i am very glad i found this thread 2 weeks ago. Actually i am totally new to NL and have been reading as a Guest for those 2 weeks now...at every spare time i have. I have used the past 2 weeks of stumbling on this thread to read through old post to enable me familiarize myself with how things are done. I must say pple have put in alot of work to give we "novice" mums/dads a wealth of information for FREE.... was so surprised cos i tot Nigerians never share stuff like this.
A little bit about me.
this is my 2nd missionary journey but d very 1st we are considering in the US I used to consider myself super sharp at things like this but after reading transcripts from pple i realized i cant do this on my own lol I have filled the interview forms for my hubby and i and interview is scheduled for the 2nd of May I would be 21 weeks by then and showing of course so i plan to say at the interview that i would be going for vacation and to go and birth Would be staying with my friend in Texas My hubby and I are working and have some money saved and would be showing all those details at the interview ...........i believe this is a summary
My question; i am currently searching for a good hospital in Texas. Has anyone given birth in Texas? i have been going through the thread but i am yet to find any Texas(maybe i missed it). As advised by @Tvegas and other pple in the thread, i need to get a good hospital that would understand the need of a self paying patient from Nigeria and with a doctor we can relate with well well.
I dont want to bombard all questions at once so i plan to be very active asking questions and sharing my birth diary as i update it for others to learn from....
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to this

Texas has been mentioned many times ..so look for part 3 of this thread same title and read through.
Or use the search button on Nairaland homepage. Select 'Travel' as the section you want to search then type words like 'Give birth in US Texas' or Houston.
Also check Page 1 of this Part4 of this thread or Page1 of the Part3 of this thread. You'll see guidelines in one of them there is a link to hospitals in the US just follow the link select your state and you will see a list of hospitals. You can then narrow it down to hospitals in the vicinity of where you intend to stay. 2 Likes |
