If Iheanacho had seven goals in Seventeen stats, Icon4s will tell us, "HE IS NOT THERE YET." Very few to none will argue.

Fortunately, he is the most Lethal Marksman in Man City. There is no way you expect Coach Siasia to leave him out.

Statistically at least, the teenager is by some distance Man City's most lethal shot-taker.

So fortunately, he is there and endorsed by Sir Icon4s.

Talking about Iheanacho, I am always so conservative when Rating young players. Most of them turn out to be "a flash in the pan".

I saw Iheanacho progress from the U17 to U20 and from ManCity academy to the Senior Team. I watched most of his 2 seasons pre-season games.

I knew he was so much talented and held so much promise but I refused to go in the way of peeps here rating him with d likes of Aguero, Silva, Sterling,Nasri. Even saying he was better than Navas and Bony and what have you.

My take was Iheanacho is work in progress he is nt there yet and it was too early to rate him that highly even before he kicks -off his debut season. And after some few 5mins introductions. People thought I had something against him.
People often allow sentiments/patriotism to affect there rating of players. It is normal everywhere in the world. As an English man can always tell u David Beckham was the greatest footballer of his era. A Real Madrid Fan will always say Ronaldo is better than Messi.

8months into his new season and I have been able to size him up and know his capabilities and where and how best to utilize him. It took some good club performances before Oliseh considered him for a call up.
See another case of Chidozie Awaziem. Some peeps here even said he was our best CB option jst bc he has just been promoted to FC Porto A Team. Always too quick to hype young players.

Sadiq Umar featured in 3 games and scored 2 goals for AS Roma. And the next thing: "O he has replaced Edin Dzeko". Always too quick.

I know the kind of argument I had with peeps on Ramon Azeez prio to 2014 World Cup. The then popular saying that "he was the best natural midfielder in that Super Eagles team". In which Super Eagles Team? A team he had never been invited to play for? How do you know he is the best in that position when he has nt even been featured?
You saw his below per outing at that World Cup. Where is Ramon Azeez today?

I take my time to rate young players.

In football condition is never permanent. Today na Vardy, yesterday was Aguero.

If Chidozie Awaziem plays today again for Porto, he will surely get my nod to play for the Super Eagles ahead of the bench warmer Ambrose.

So, you mean Iheanacho deserves to be called to the National team as at that time Oliseh selected him after scoring just 2 league goals? shocked grin

I see "it took some good club performance before Oliseh considered him for a call up". You mean with just two goals? grin

While Sadiq Umar who also scored 2 goals in 3 matches is not worthy of invitation into the Olympics(i am not even talking about Super Eagles ooo)?

If you have your way, you will replace any somebody with Chidozie Awaziem to make sure he makes the list of the Olympic team which i am not against but i just want to point out something. You know what I mean. grin

Now, moving to Ramon-azeez, so, do you mean he has never rising before? shocked grin

Because i know he played regularly for his club in the la liga prior to the World Cup. Now, tell me, who should have replaced him then?

Besides, Keshi no know em work? Playing Ramon Azeez as an attacking midfielder and not his favourite CMF or DMF proved he knows nothing.

Tribalism? Hahaha. We all know who is more guilty of it on this forum.

You compare Sadiq Umar with Kelechi Ijeanacho?

Bros, in terms of development Kelechi is far ahead of Sadiq.

Besides looking at the positionsthe 2 players play, Iheanacho stands a better chance of being invited to the Super Eagles.

Sadiq Umar at best for now can fight for a place at the next U20 where he still has the likes of Victor Osimhen, Chdera Ezeh, Taiwo Awoniyi and some fuure rising players to contend with.
The U23 Strikers positions may be far from him for now not to talk of the Super Eagles.

And I know nothing is definite in football as I keeping mentioning that some players progression may be Arithmetic while others can be Geometric. Sadiq Umar rise quickly and over take the other striking options we have in future.

@bolded said it all. Atleast, it is a confession of the guilty one. grin

Can you define "development" with technical facts?

Which position is Iheanacho playing for his club that makes him stand better chance of being invited to the Super Eagles?

Do you mean Sadiq Umar that is playing at the level of Kelechi Iheanacho can not contend at the Olympics level because of your.... criteria? grin

But Chidozie Awaziem was already on your list for the Olympics football games. grin

As for Sir Solanke Forgiveness Ajagun, grin his list is not bad but I told him I had some reservations which I already knew others will come and point out. Pesin like me no wan talk too much on the matter because I have my personal fears for the final 18 though I believe it will at least be better than his Afcon U-23 Squad to Senegal.

I also have my lists, two to be precise. One is a final 18 without Overaged players (akin to 99.8% of Sir Chrisooblog's). The second is a final 18 with two or three overaged.

Siasia wants to redeem himself in the eyes of Nigerians again. This is the only big reason I feel he'll take the very best to Rio though not all will make the final 18 but I expect most of our best to make it.

But my personal subtle fears remain........

Hope you had a great day Sir.

I had a cool and stressless day and yours Sir...

He must be joking then. Even if he fails to give Nacho a chance which I don't believe, Nacho will find a good Club. I also make bold to say that looking at what the dude has produced this season, he can walk into the starting eleven of some good Clubs in England. I also believe that most Clubs will be ready to buy him. So that Guardiola attitude is not even a problem to me.

I think so too. But Omeruo should be a sure banker for selection.

I am still observing Balogun to know if he's actually feigning injury.

It is good to have someone like forgiveness on this thread (even though he annoys me sometimes), someone who looks out for those without popular demand.

I doubt we would discuss Solanke as a prospect of the country without someone like forgiveness.

To the attack discussion. I doubt Coach Siasia will be impressed enough to call a striker with 7 goals in 21 games.

forgiveness, does Solanke play upfront or does he play on the wings for Vitesse. Unless he plays on the wings, I do not see Coach Siasia giving him a call up.

I feel Coach Siasia has a lot of faith in Osimhen and I see him making it over the likes of Chikatara and Solanke.

(Note, Ronaldo De Lima was Seventeen years old when Carlos Alberto Parreira selected him for the World Cup. Although he did not play)
If you were the Coach, would you pick Osimhen over Chikatara? Osimhen is no where near Chikatara. What happens to players like Kayode, Ezekiel. They may not be playing in the best leagues in Europe but you know that they can offer something more than these rising and promising stars. Osimhen and Solanke can go fight for U20 Shirt I beg

From my study, Dominic Solanke plays as a point man for Vitesse. It says a lot that he is a bright talent for the future. I hope he grows and makes a big impact in the game.

With respect to the Olympics team, he does not fit in with his stats. 7 goals in 17 starts is poor for the team. Coach Siasia will not take him. If Solanke played on the wings, he would have stood a chance. As a point man, regularly, he does not meet up.

My advice to Solanke is to team up with the U20 boys and slug it out with Osimhen for the U20 No.9 shirt. (I don't think he will beat Osimhen but it will be a healthy battle for the team).

He is young and still has time to make a solid impact.
If the NFF want Dominic Solanke to don the green white green, now is the time. By the time the guy starts picking up more than what he has done, I don't think England will be ready to let him go. The FA is still pained by Alex Iwobi's miss let alone Solanke's. Now is the time. How I wish Coach Emmanuel Amuneke will act fast and track the guy for the next U20. Coach Siasia can extend a call up to him to assure him so that he begin to feel more Nigerian and to give him the hope that he can be called up very soon to team up with any of the national teams when the need arises.

It all boils down to how long Coach Siasia has to prepare for the tournament. Remember, reports came from Coach Siasia crew complaining of the top players not meeting up with Coach Siasia's routines.

Chikatara, Adi and Aaron Samuel did not meet up with the routines. We did not get this complain about Osimhen. So we can not ascertain Kayode will be perfect.

Osimhen is already part of the team and he impressed Coach Siasia. Remember, Coach Siasia and Osimhen stayed at the same hotel when Coach Amunike camped the U17 team at Abuja. They used the same training pitch, so Coach Siasia is familiar with Osimhen.

I do not object Coach Siasia inviting Kayode. It all depends on the number of friendlies the NFF can organize and the time left to screen players.

After that, if Kayode performs better in training, the coach can invite him. (I doubt he will.)

If Dominic Solanke still has England on his mind and will rush into the arms of England if they call him, then there is no need luring him to the Super Eagles. We need those who dream and live the Green White Green. Not those who will play for us but wished England called him.

Iwobi got an English call up but his dream was the Green White Green. If not, we would never get him because the English conditions is far better.

Mr. Technical Facts, what facts do you have to prove to us that Solanke is ahead of Chikatara?

You people seem to underrate some of these dudes. Kayode was prolific while in Isreal and has not stopped banging goals in Australia. Chikatara is one of the best young strikers in the NPPL. Imoh Ezekiel is not shy in front of goal plus his previous achievements, no thanks to his move to China. So how can Awoniyi, Osimhen and Solanke become our most prefered options? I don't get it.

What about that dude that played well during trainings with the Super Eagles. I guess Coach Siasia asked him to go team up with the Olympics team. Osimhen, Awoniyi and Solanke may look promising but are not a match to these three names I have mentioned. Experience counts.
TheSuperNerd do you remember the dude?

Nigeria Olympic team fail to open training camp

Azubuike Okechukwu led Nigeria to win the U23 AFCON in Senegal and qualify for the Rio Olympics

Nigeria Olympic team, Dream Team VI, did not open training camp in Abuja on Monday as announced and a new resumption date has yet to be made known.

This development may well not be unconnected with the unaccounted 2.9 billion Naira released by the federal government for the entire preparations by all the sports entered by the country for the Rio Olympics in August.

The Dream Team’s training camp falls under this preparation.

Officials said the team received 250 million Naira (about $1.4 million) from the now defunct National Sports Commission for the U23 AFCON in Senegal in December.

The draw for the Rio Olympics football event will be staged on April 14.

If he is ready to choose Nigeria over England with no regrets, then I say we do our best to make him part of the team and give him a chance to contribute to the growth of Nigerian football.

He is a fantastic talent but I do not think he is ready for the Olympics team.

As for the U20, I hope and believe Coach Amunike will give him a call up. Remember, for now, Coach Amunike said he will only work with homebased players. He wants the foreign based players to use the facilities, coaches and equipments to develop themselves. Coach Amunike wants to train the home based Flying Eagles himself.

When the time reaches, I hope he hands Solanke a call up. Vitesse No.9, is not beans.

Goal Scoring Defender Ganiu Ogungbe Rues Draw With Aris

Ex-Nigeria U20 international Ganiu Ogungbe has declared that Ethnikos Achnas were unlucky not to get the maximum points in their Cypriot First Division clash away to Aris Limassol on Sunday.

The central defender put his team 2-1 up in the 35th minute, only for Mathew Boniface to restore parity for Aris in the first minute of stoppage time.

Ogungbe has blossomed into a goal scoring defender since his arrival at Ethnikos Achnas, with his strike against Aris his seventh in the league since he debuted for the club in 2014.

“I am a central defender but I also play as a central midfielder but all my four goals (this season) came from the defensive position,” Ogungbe told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“I think my team deserves the three points but unfortunately we were unlucky. All thanks to God.”

The ex-Omonia Nicosia stopper has played 22 games in the top-flight so far this season, and has been yellow-carded eight times.

Nigerian Exports: New Kid On The Block Awaziem Makes Sixth Start For

Catch up on the performances of Nigerian players in the European Leagues on Monday.

We start off at the Yeni Rize Şehir Stadı (Rize) for the week 27 Super Lig clash between Rizespor and Kayserispor which ended goalless.

Nigeria international Godfrey Oboabona returned to the starting lineup of Rizespor after serving out his one-match ban for accumulated card offenses and worked a ninety-minute shift in defense. He was yellow-carded in the 63rd minute.

Former Super Eagles star Yakubu Aiyegbeni was an unused substitute for Kayserispor. It would have been his 12th appearance in the league if he had featured.

Kenneth Omeruo has recovered from a groin injury and played the entirety of Kasimpasa’s shock 2-1 win against leaders Besiktas.

In the Swedish Allsvenskan, Alhaji Gero and Michael Omoh did not feature in Oestersunds FK’s 1-1 draw with Hammarby and the former did not make the 18-man squad.

Kingsley Ndidi Olie started and played 58 minutes of Mjoendale’s 3-1 win over Kristiansund BK in the Norwegian OBOS-ligaen.

At Estádio Do Dragão, defender Chidozie Awaziem, 19, made his sixth start for Porto against Tondela. 0-0 as at the 57th minute.

Ezekiel Imoh - 3 goals - Anderlecht - Belgium
Moses Simon - 3 goals- Genk - Belgium
Isaac Success - 5 goals - Granada - Spain
Kayode Olanrewaju - 10 goals -Austrian Vienna - Austria
Chikatara - not available
Aaron Samuel - 7 goals - Guangzhou - China
Kelechi Iheanacho - 9 goals - Man city - England
Dominic Solanke - 7 goals - Vitesse - Netherlands
Sadiq Umar - 2 goals - Roma - Italy

What about that dude that played well during trainings with the Super Eagles. I guess Coach Siasia asked him to go team up with the Olympics team.
TheSuperNerd do you remember the dude?

Yeh! I forgot that guy. Thanks for reminding me. I will try to dig out his name.

Then, how come Iwobi played for the junior lion?

Did Iwobi get a call from Nigeria and he turned it down for England?

He used the English set up for his growth in football but when it came down to the Koko, he showed where his heart belonged.

To be candid, I want the best to represent our country hence my thorough assessment of players before clamouring for their invitation.

Now, let us look at the numbers of goals scored by all the forwards eligible for the Olympics and decide who should be selected. Remember, age no be anything.

Ezekiel Imoh - 3 goals - Anderlecht - Belgium
Moses Simon - 3 goals- Genk - Belgium
Isaac Success - 5 goals - Granada - Spain
Kayode Olanrewaju - 10 goals -Austrian Vienna - Austria
Chikatara - not available
Aaron Samuel - 7 goals - Guangzhou - China
Kelechi Iheanacho - 9 goals - Man city - England
Dominic Solanke - 7 goals - Vitesse - Netherlands
Sadiq Umar - 2 goals - Roma - Italy

Tell us who deserves to be selected?

Imoh Ezekiel, Moses Simon and Isaac Success play on the wings. So their stats do not count.

Coach Siasia can extend a call up to him to assure him so that he begin to feel more Nigerian and to give him the hope that he can be called up very soon to team up with any of the national teams when the need arises.
the guy blood is english,he is not interested in playing for nigeria

Solanke broke into the first team of England U17 but Chikatara never broke into any Nigeria age grade teams.

Solanke help England to win the European Under 17 tournament but Chikatara never won any age grade tournament.

Solanke was the highest goal scorer in the U17 European tournament but chikatara has come close to doing that for the age grade system.

Solanke was the winner and the highest goal scorer in the UEFA youth tournament with 12 goals but chikatara never had the experience to play in such competition.

Solanke had the experience of playing in the prestigious UEFA Champions League but chikatara never played in such competition even in the CAF level.

Solanke is playing in one the best leagues in the world but Chikatara is still praying to the Almighty God to grant him his request. I say AMEN.

Solanke has scored 7 league goals in a league know to be very technical and Tactical in football approach but chikatara has so far been overlooked by European clubs despite seeing him play for the second Super Eagles.

Awoniyi is battling to score goals in the second division of bundesliga while Osimhen is still been used as apprentice in his yet to be club.

So, why are you casting aspersions on Solanke when he has not privately told you or shown you were his heart belongs?
