Do You Support Periodic Leave In Marriage? by HIROSHI: 10:41pm On Oct 05, 2008 |
In my previously posted thread (DO YOU SOMETIMES WISHED THAT YOU WEREN'T MARRIED?) I discovered from the poll result and comment that married couple definitely demand a break once in a while but not as a result of their not enjoying their marriages and not as a prelude to divorce, they just need a break from the usual activities. The question now is: should there be periodic leave in marriages? Say, a month every other year; a year every five/ten years; a week every year e.t.c? |

LEAVE? I DO NOT BUY THAT IDEA. I KNOW FROM THE SCRIPTURES THAT 'ONCE MARRIED, ALWAYS MARRIED'. THE 'LEAVE ADVISORS' SHOULD NOT FORGET THE MARRIAGE VOW , TILL DEATH DO WE PART. ANY ONE THINKING OF 'LEAVE IN MARRIAGE' SHOULD BETTER HAVE A RETHINK. AS WILLIAM BRANHAM SAID AND I QUOTE 'NEVER LET THAT HONEY MOON CEASE. |

No, No, No Not in the way you are talking. My girlfriends and I, two of them, all of us are married so we take a day every few months and we go to the spa or like last month or maybe it was two months ago we went to one of thiers house out in the country and we had girl time. We turned off the phones we drank, watched movies, got in the hot tub, talked about our kids, husbands and life, slept woke up checked in with hubbies hung out some more then headed back home. The best part for me is the advice i get from these women. They are much older than me (one 23 years and the other 24), i soak it up and use every bit of it. We just needed a day to recharge our batteries. It was great. No one to bother with us, 4 hours away from everyone just us girls having fun. |

ima1: What she probably meant was that they were 23 and 24 years older than her. That is, if she is 36, they are 59 and 60 years old. Am I right sistawoman? |

I think the poster meant taking periodic breaks from each other. I'm in a relationship that's almost a decade old and we don't live in each other pockets. There are times I don't want to see a soul and I mean NOBODY. He taking off sans me with his buddies for days or a couple of weeks doesn't mean we love each other any less. He often has a great time alone or with his buddies, and I don't feel obligated to share every single time he's laughing with him. We're a single unit, but we're individuals too, and you can't cater to one aspect of you two-in-oness, and smother the other to death. I think the occasional break is good, and one shouldn't feel guilty about wanting it. It's certainly made my relationship stronger. We take vacations together, and I tell you those are some of our favourite times. But we infrequently take vacations without each other too. I sometimes move my friends and sibling's kids to my home so the couple can relax alone or together. So yup, for me, the occasional break is good. 2 Likes |
