Depends on if the abuse is a one time thing or habitual. There is hope when is a one time thing, otherwise they are both safer apart.

Abi, since she wants to die on top his matter. She should sidon there and live like a slave without her own desires. She was born a woman to live like a mans dog.
So.e women deserve double beating. Why on earth should a normal person want to work things out with someone who physically abuses her? Once a beater always a beater. Na only God fit turn a beater around.

Can't one time become habitual?

I think the first time is the deal breaker and needs to be handled well to prevent reoccurrence.

@OP: Is it physical abuse or fighting?

Two different things.

My sister some women are plain terrible. What do you expect a man being locked by the collar to do? If I am a man, I won't promise not knocking out a teeth or two. Even as a woman,i will try to see what I can do. You know once a woman is hit, most will claim abuse and not fighting. Yes ,how one time is handled will go a long way to decide what happens next.

I won't preach divorce or separation on a one time thing but I will advise it is appropriately handled to avoid re occurrence.

I totally agree

That's why I asked if it was physical abuse or fight.

Why must the marriage be kept.

If someone is damaging you physically emotionally and psychologically. Why MUST you be married to that person.

Why?

Marriage is worth fighting for BUT avoid wasting time fighting a hopeless fight. If una die on top marriage, your spouse sabi bring girlfriend/boyfriend to una burial.

In cases involving physical or emotional abuse, RUN RUN RUN. Staying because of your kids, has bad results. Y'all need to read the views of kids from abusive homes.

She should know that she'll be a punching ball for the rest of her life. There is nothing that will change that man, and he'll never miss an excuse to fight. That's what happens to bitter men who have watched their mother being beaten by their father. It's a lifelong decease.

OP Why use Will smith as example? Did he tell you he used to beat his wife?
Rocky marriage or relationship doesn't mean it involved abuse.
No long term couple can say there haven't been rocky patches in their journey. That's life.

Abuse is a different kettle of fish altogether.

Some sacrifices are too great to make. At the end, its usually not worth it.

People seem to be fixated about this marriage issues though. I think any toxic relationship should be made away with and this isn't just about physical abuse. It cuts across both genders btw.

For us who choose to live by Bible standard, we try to make it work by all means... (but for extreme cases, separation may become inevitable)

The worst sin in the world is not divorce.

I doubt very much if the Bible standard supports adultery, fornication, and even beating your wife.

A man who does any of that has no moral high ground to speak against divorce in my own opinion.

Depends..

1. If she can endure and damn the consiquenses, (death included since we are talking about physical abuse here)
2. How "willing" is the man to change.?

Exactly ! I try as much as possible to live by God's laws , but I put the question out there because Im not a woman and don't know how she could endure physical abuse from her depraved husband whose heart is far away from God .

All sins will lead to one destination , before divorce happens the couple should be sure that it was inevitable - every possible thing was done to reignite the love in the marriage but it was futile .

Instead of throwing it away, they fix it. Unfortunately we're in a 'throw it away' generation.

People marrying for the wrong reasons, people not willing to work it out, people emotionally and psychologically unprepared for marriage, people too undisciplined to be faithful etc. So many reasons why marriages these days are crashing left right and centre.

I do not advocate people remaining in abusive, destiny wasting marriages. If you can fix it, try. Don't leave any stone unturned in trying to make it work, but if at the end there's still no light at the end of the tunnel, then, by all means, 'throw it away'.

Of course. But OP from what u posted, Jade never said that she was ever physically abused by will. But why is it that men are always seen as the aggressor. What of those women, who are verbally loose towards their husbands, don't you know that, that is a form of abuse, who speaks for those men, and can they work things out with their wives, it shouldn't be all about the woman every time, men can also victims.

Most woman beaters DO NOT change, their wives know this. Let's call a spade a spade. Since the women have decided to be punching bags, make dem carry their cross. When they tell them leave before he kills you, they will use the children as an excuse. Make them enjoy the blows and kicks abeg tongue

At the end of the day, you can only work things out with someone that is willing to change.

It's LadyF again grin grin grin

throw what away It is for better for worse. Do all the throwing away while searching for ur spouse...but once married, its for better for worse. Ain't u a Christian?
