oga word1, I must commend you for all the great work you've been doing so far. you are really sending a great message for we youths that think white collar job is the way. thanks a bunch. I have this irritating but important questions to ask and I hope we all can learn from you. 1. let's say you harvest 80% of what you planted during the harvesting time, in how many months will be able to harvest another 80% you planted? it will really help it you can help break down the profit analysis 2. if one uses moringa as perimeter fencing and wind breaker, as the perimeter fencing, does one have to use barbed wire with the moringa? 3. is it a must for one to use irrigation? I asked this because irrigation is costly. and also, do we need to use manure and fertilizer at the same time? your quick response will be much appreciated sir |

ylordy:You can apply manure before planting as based dressing. Applying after planting is simple for manure just make sure it's already cured the pour at the based at 1 feet away from the stem. For fertiliser you also follow the above step with the right quantity based on your soil requirements. 1 Like |

phenomem:This your questions long oooooo. 1. The harvesting period/time depends on a lot of things. If you follow best agronomy practice (feeding, watering, pruning, desuckering and weeding you can get next harvest every 6 months. If you intend using moringa for just perimeter fencing you might not need to. But if the purpose of the fencing is to stop intruders then you need to reinforce the moringa tree. You can also plant jatropha tree for your perimeter fencing just make sure you plant it as close as 3feets. Attached is my moringa and jatropha fencing. During dry season if you want optimum results then it is a most you irrigate your farm. 1 Like

Hello. I want to know more about plantain farming and want to know if you can still give advice cos i found out this post was 2 years ago. How can you be contacted quote author=world1 post=28368521]Hello everyone, Am an Agribusiness Consultant based in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. My company is Natural Nutrient Limited. LET'S DISCUSSED EVERYTHING ABOUT SETTING UP A PLANTAIN FARM. What is a Plantain? Plantains are a member of the banana family. They are a starchy, low in sugar variety that is cooked before serving as it is unsuitable raw. Unlike starting other tree farms, starting a plantain farm and growing plantain are easier and less complicated. Although growing plantain still requires ones attention, the level of skill required is not as intensive as other trees. Here are a few guidelines in growing plantain and starting a plantain farm. Step 1. LAND PROCUREMENT The first thing to consider in starting a plantain farm is looking for the right climate. Plantain cannot thrive in an environment that is too hot or too cold. The proposed land/soil for your plantain farm must be a well drain land that is rich and naturally fertilized but If such is not available, you can create compost and add chicken manure to your existing land. Now that you have the land what next?[/quote] 1 Like |
