Lets summarise the holes in this Kwara State lies:

1) Why is pension being paid to a man that is yet to retire? A pension comes from a pot to support people that have retired from work.

2) Why is Kwara state government paying people's pension? Should that not come from a pension administrator?

3) Why is the pension, being paid, sometimes labelled as "salary" in the bank statements?

4) How come the "pension" or "salary" is more than his previous salaries as a Governor and always increasing? If it is being increased, will the percentage increase not be applicable to other Kwara pensioners?

5) Why was the "pension" payments stopped in August 2015 and has not been paid since then? Did Saraki die that it had to stop?

These show the monies are just casual withdrawals by Saraki from Kwara State budget. Maybe he is claiming back money he spent on putting his cronies in position in the state.

Only in Nigeria!

Nonsense that does not make sense. People that really served this country were left to die on queues waiting to collect peanuts as salaries while the self imposed lords will even have their pensions multiplied after service....

Nonsense.

Saraki is as evil as Tinubu and Fashola respectively. We have an obligation to condemn both and not absolve one for whatever reason.

The Lagos State Governor and Deputy Governor's Bill passed in 2007 is one of the most secretive Bills passed by the Lagos House of Assembly as contained in the List of Bills Passed see http://adeyemiikuforiji.org/legislation.html

Lagos State, Law No. 11 of 2007 of Lagos State gives pension to any former governor who completed two terms equivalent to the exact salary paid to the sitting governor, plus 300 per cent of his or her basic salary as furniture allowance. In addition, the law provides choice houses, bullet-proof cars to be renewed every three years; eight policemen and two SSS details, entertainment, car maintenance, house maintenance, personal assistant, and utility allowances among other things.

My brother you just drag me back into this thread and I wouldn't mind if on this issue you raise that we take this thread to its 20th page. I just returned from Kwara (like 2 weeks ago) and anytime Saraki's case comes up for discussion you need to see how some human slaves are ready to fight, argue for this kleptomaniac who had rob Kwarans of their future. The only thing remaining now is to change Kwara to Saraki State.....very myopic and erroneously religious and stupidly fetish clowns....though not all but majorly the Ilorin indigenes.

From June 2011, former Governor Saraki started receiving his pension, which was N578,188.00 as other past governors in the country,” Gold said in a statement.

The statement added that after the review of pensions of former political office holders by the state pension board, the former governor’s pension increased to N1,239,493.94 monthly from October 2014 to date.

demanded details of his (Mr. Saraki) salary account during investigations and discovered that he received regular salaries after the expiration of his tenure on May 29, 2011.
“His salary for June was N291,412:75k
, while that of July, August and September were N572,286:32k, N744,000 and N743,942 respectively,” Mr. Wetkast said.

Ok, the state government is trying to wiggle out of their collusion and conspiracy to defraud the people of Kwara state even by justifying the jump in payment to over 1 million per month while failing to explain the monthly jump from N291,412 > N572,286 >N744,000.

Is the state saying they did salary or pension review and increased payments every month on behalf of their former governor.?

There are things you can't cover or wash away with lame and insulting reasons...

The state should have stayed out of it instead of doing abobaku pending EFCC assault on their fabrications..

EFCC also mistook the Kwara government's account with GTBank for Sarakis'.

Also, EFCC mistook the loan Kwara government was servicing for Sarakis. Maybe Kwara owns all the said properties in the uk.

Let us summarise the holes in the holes you picked

Gamesmart:
Lets summarise the holes in this Kwara State lies:

1) Why is pension being paid to a man that is yet to retire? A pension comes from a pot to support people that have retired from work.

Pension laws for governors of each state allow it. He is deemed to have retired on successful completion of his tenure (if not impeached). The same applies to all former Heads of State at federal level. It was under that law that Buhari got the cars that was bombed and the replacement (through Dasuki)

2) Why is Kwara state government paying people's pension? Should that not come from a pension administrator?

The Pension Laws for Presidents and Governors are different laws from Pension Reform Act that established Pension Fund Administrators (PFA). For PFA to be responsible for your pensions, you must have been a contributor during your working life. This is not applicable to presidents and governors. Even under the Pension Reform Act, there is what is called Close Pension Scheme. Military, secret service, nnpc workers, Shell, Mobil workers etc operate their independent pension schemes not through PFAs

3) Why is the pension, being paid, sometimes labelled as "salary" in the bank statements?

What the bank decides to label a payment is not the headache of the state government after all it has no access to Saraki's bank statements to know how it was labeled. What matter should be what does its own vouchers and supporting documents call the payments and if there is a law that authorized that payment

4) How come the "pension" or "salary" is more than his previous salaries as a Governor and always increasing? If it is being increased, will the percentage increase not be applicable to other Kwara pensioners?

If the law provides it, no offence has been committed. In NNPC, your pension is reviewed anytime the salaries of active workers are reviewed. So the pension at a point will surpass your salary that you retired upon. In any case, like I said earlier, the pension laws for governors are different from General pension law

5) Why was the "pension" payments stopped in August 2015 and has not been paid since then? Did Saraki die that it had to stop?

The question that should be asked is what is efcc trying to prove by bring up the issue of these payments and in what context was it brought up. According to the report, efcc only said that these payments stopped coming into Gtb and Access bank accounts. They did not say that they confirmed from Kwara government if it stopped making payments or whether Saraki started using another bank account to receive the payments. What if Saraki donated the fund and instructed the government to be paying the donees directly? What if he had benevolently asked the state government to suspend paying him until the economy of the state improves because he is now the number 3 citizen? What if the state government had begged him to defer receiving the pension until it is financially stable? So many ifs.

These show the monies are just casual withdrawals by Saraki from Kwara State budget. Maybe he is claiming back money he spent on putting his cronies in position in the state.

Even if this were so, as I said above, it depends on what purpose efcc intended to achieve in bringing up the matter. Note that this is CCT not a regular court. The CCT will only concern itself on whether the income was declared by Saraki not whether he got it illegally. If the tax authority takes you to court that you failed to pay tax on income from illegal source, the court will only enforce the tax or jail you for evading tax not convict you for involvement in criminal act because tax authority will not be the prosecuting agency for such

the statement credited to the kwara state government if care is not taken will open another of Bukola saraki's many cans of worms. what they refer to as pension had better been left as salary the way EFCC has classified it. this is because kwara indigenes all knows better. what happens is that in paying Bukola saraki's pension, kwara state government pays pittance into his account. But actually what happens is that Bukola Saraki earns 100million naira pension every blessed month. And this money is paid in a tranch of 25 million into four separate accounts in four major banks in Ilorin two of which are UBA and Zenith. this money is paid on the 29th of every month via cash lodgement. This development is not a secret in Kwara state. At a point the former Kwara State commissioner for information Mr Tunji Morohunfoye even defended Bukola saraki pension allowance claiming it is 45million and not 100million as claimed.
