In spite of the current hardship Nigerians are facing, I'm yet to see any serious group protest, but during GEJ regime we witnessed massive protest against his subsidy removal.. So the question here is why is everybody mute about this current one

My respect to the great music legend, Fela Kuti, his words are like fine wine, always better each day.

He said

We Nigerians fear to fight for freedom

We fear to fight for progress

We no wan die

We no wan quench

Papa dey for house

Mama dey for house.

His music is more like a gospel..

Nigerians have forgotten, that power is the people, not the Government.

What I have written, I have written

when you queue at the filling stations for fuel, when will you have time to protest? This present fuel scarcity has been the worst ever! Buhari and the federal has failed to address the issue. Isn't he supposed to have made a nationwide broadcast to calm Nigerians down?

The insensitivity of this government is alarming and shameful. smh

My papa say "when race never serious na woman dey hold e breast dey run"

Nigerians now have more serious issues than those ones that made them protest. We are trying to think, cry in the secret and do strategic planning cos now its all man to himself and God for all

It's quite simple. The removal of subsidy was a government policy, which was interpreted by people to mean that the price of fuel would go up and it won't come down unless they did something about it. So there was no hope unless people protested.

The current scarcity is not a policy of government, so people believe that it would subside. "Maybe it will subside today, maybe it would subside tomorrow". So people are waiting for it to subside. There will be protests if, for example, the government announces that the scarcity will continue for 6 more months. So people are angry, but they are still hopeful that it will subside today or tomorrow.

We all know that protest in this era is a waste of time, energy and resources. The man we chose to govern us is insensitive to the predicament of his people unlike his predecessor. Protesting from now till forever won't move that man a bit.

if we all are like this for a long time (criticizing the government when necessary) then it could have been better.
one of my anger against apc is that they made governance looks like eating Akara and bread by criticizing Gej in all aspects
at least Gej in his cluelessness, corruption and weakness curtailed this fuel scarcity for good six years till the last days of his office and things are not this hard.
yes Gej was too weak by allowing monumental corruption to succeed in his administration but at least things are not this bad afterall apc members are also among the same corrupt people infact all Nigerian politicians are corrupt.

hmmmm Beremx i just dey look you grin well since the day you openly criticize Rochas clueless government am not suprised on this one cheesy

It's not true that nigerians are not protesting because it's a dictatorship or because they fear the Nigerian Army or anything like that. The reason why there haven't been any protests is because there is no trigger. Nigerians need a spark.

For example, SAP was introduced in 1986 and nigerians suffered because of it, but there were no riots for the first two years because everybody was "managing". Then came a spark - the government increased the price of petrol in 1988 - and we had the first SAP riots. Nobody cared whether it was a dictatorship or whether there were soldiers on the streets.

Another spark came in 1989, when someone published a fake edition of Ebony Magazine in which they claimed that Babangida was the richest black person in the world. This led to some of the worst rioting in Nigeria (the rioters dismantled the police roadblock on Independence Bridge and almost got to NTA. Many people believe that the 1989 SAP riots and the 1990 coup were the main reasons why Babangida moved to Abuja). People didn't care if there were soldiers on the streets. In fact, students of College of Medicine, University of Lagos made make-shift ambulances with which they evacuated and treated wounded demonstrators. That was the second SAP riot.

The third SAP riot occurred in 1992 when the government again increased the price of petrol.

All these riots took place when we had a military government.

Right now Nigerians are "managing", but the anger will turn to protests and riots if there is a spark (eg, the government makes some crazy announcement).

Nigerians are hypocrites. Now we have seen faces of corruption, why are we not protesting for justice? We all know that the hardship we are facing now is as a result of corruption fighting back.
