They are definitely not cleaner. This has been proven in Europe hence heavy tax on them.manufacturers lied then.same way vw lied about thier emission test
In the UK, owners of diesel cars pay less road tax than users of petrol cars and this is because diesel engines are adjudged to have less CO2 emissions.

Diesel cars are da bomb.
I've been using this old Toyota Landcruiser with manual transmission for over 4 yeas now, while the guy i got it from had used it for about 3 prior to my getting it, and good NL people i have never had cause to regret. The AC na die. I still get people stopping me once in a while and begging me to sell, but i cant fathom selling, even in my dreams.
From now on, its diesel all d way for me!!

Well I dont know about a plans to change the diesel car tax band. But to date in the UK, car tax is still dictated by CO2 emissions and diesel cars still pay less.

you heard. hearsay has kept Nigerians largely in the dark. I drive a diesel, its not as quiet as a 2015 Avalon but its not as noisy as a keke napep. my friends e90 is even quieter. you wouldn't know until he revs it. the distinct diesel clatter is there but subdued. diesels don't really need a lot of maintenance. in this day and age of scanners, you have a tool to aid your mechanic service your diesel engine. the most I have done to my diesel is clean my intake manifold, egr and turbo. all were straight forward and done by a none diesel mechanic. I showed him what to do and that was it. my diesel doesn't smoke anymore after cleaning out my turbo and blanking my egr.
I can get 1100 kilometres on a 55 litre tank before I refuel if I do only highway driving and 700 kilometers if I drive only in the city.
avoid diesels with dpf for now though.

what car is this, make i buy am 1100 KM, that means i can go to Kaduna twice from Abuja on one tank, Awesome !

Remember diesel is more expensive than petrol in normal conditions.
. Under normal circumstances, for same distance, less money is spent on diesel compared to petrol

A lot of reasons. Some of which are:

1. Most Nigerians dont seek advice from REAL EXPERTS rather they seek it from quack mechanics that are everywhere.
2. Most Nigerians spare part dealers hardly import the mechanical parts of diesel car versions.
3. Most diesel cars are from europe and importing cars room europe is most times(almost all the time) more expensive than from the USA/Canada.

bro point no 3 i disagree...for instance shipping from europe to nja is max 15days and is in lagos and to ship a sedan from europe i.e rotterdam,hamburg,antwerp..cost btw 500-600 eurs..tell me how it is from USA/CANADAand also tell me how many months it takes from there cuz it aint even weeks?so i disagree for now wiv dat point no3 until u convince me otherwise.

Google it bro, am not making it up, the reason why u say that is because you see all these black smoke coming out of these dead lorries, buses, mechanos, generators and cars on our roads.

It is debatable. Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon emissions are much more in petrol engines. Meanwhile, NOx and particulates emissions are much more in diesel engines.

u bought adulterated diesel most likely mixed with kerosene and fuel since they are cheaper. unscrupulous filling stations pull that stunt regularly to make quick bucks. petrol is 87 naira and kero is 83 naira. if you mix fuel, kero and diesel in a ratio of 1:2:5, you will get a product that you can sell with a margin of almost 50% assuming the price of diesel is 150 naira.
older diesel engines can run on pure vegetable oil. I use some quantity in my car. usually old cooking oil that missus would had thrown away. there is caveat to this stunt. your diesel engine should be o the older common rail technology usually pre 2000. ur fuel lines and tank must be clear of muck. vegetable oil usually cleans up the line and tank and carries this debris into ur injectors. this causes a lot of issues. however 3 to 4 litres of clean used vegetable oil won't harm a diesel engine. these engines can even run on engine oil!.
