[size=13pt]I saw in the news yesterday or so that the Cross Rivers State government is building a rice city solely for the cultivation of rice.

Today, I see in the news that the Kaduna state government is building a $150m poultry project. Actually, they are not the ones building it but they got foreign investors in to do this. Amongst other things, it will produce 1 million day old chicks per week.

The question I ask is what is our Rivers State governor's plan for diversification as seen exemplified by these kinds of project that have been begging to be done, but which have now been finally embarked upon by our neighbours in Cross Rivers State and our far away counterparts in Kaduna state?

We have suffered the grievous tragedies of being inflicted by 2 bereft personalities in the form of our 2 past governors when it comes to any kind of real and committed economic development from within. These 2 past governors have been:-

a) Dr. Peter Odili for whom it would seem that that kind of economic development did not even live on the same planet as his thoughts before and during his stay as governor. Whether his mind had any encounter with those thoughts when he left office, we may never know.

b) Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, who was a glorified dunce from the onset and only revealed his true state every time he opened his mouth to speak. He was Dr. Odilli's right hand man through out Odili's stay in power and worked closely with him in the worthless performance the Odilli administration was about. He is alleged to be the one who introduced the cult boys (who later became militants) to Odilli's corridors of power, such that a militant eventually became Chief security officer of Rivers State. That a militant became the state security officer under Odilli is verifiable information.

Now we have Wike. Will he be like the rest of the tragedies Rivers State has had to bear?

Will he allow us to be crying foul when LNG or private investors decide to build a shipping dry dock in Lagos State?

Or will he find one project that will outlast him and try and make it a reality through public/private(home or abroad) partnership such that his era is etched upon the history of Rivers State for good for a long time (even after he has gone)?[/size]

He is too busy fighting Amaechi for supremacy. I think you are on a long thing if you're expecting anything meaningful from him. You can tell of his performance from when he was minister of Education. He did not to anything then, how will he do something now?

In my state Edo state adams oshiomole the comrade governor has don too many numerous things to mention. Sometimes I think he is a magician. One big project he his currently doing now is that he is building a power plant that will provide 3000 megawatts of electricity. I believe it is in partnership with the private sector.

He has not done badly so far but what I have said is something Rivers State badly needs and it will be to his own credit if he is the governor that pulls it off.[/size]
