Benitez has a relegation clause inserted in his contract and it's possible he gets a job with some other EPL team next season.

TBH I don't know much about mensah aside from those brief Cameo that isn't enough.
if you only look at stones this season then he isn't very good but the guy was very good the season before,his bad performance this season could be mental.
I should say that I would like us to get a CB it doesn't have to be English or European but am drawing blank on really central defenders.
do we have enough talent in our academy to fill this void?

Blind isn't a better center back than McNair. Even with Rojo back, Blind lined up in CB. The same could have been the story if Jones had been fit.

Blind compliments Smalling so well.. He covers up for Smalling.. Smalling has got the physique oh yes... But when it comes to football IQ.. Blind thumbs him... Blind understands how it goes... Smalling is good.. But they need each other bro.. Jones is all physical and stvpid.. If Smalling and Blind pair for a nos of seasons... The duo could go places.. Blind reads the game well.. He pushes for attack with confidence... Same with McNair.. LvG is dumb bout the fellaini and Carrick in the middle. But as for Blind & Smalling combo, they've been good so far

I'm not trying to say Blind is a bad defender or underrate his efforts so far this season as a CB, what I'm saying is that we could've had better partners for Smalling even within the club.

Not that I blame whoever, Blind's availability & absence of others have been the deciding factor. Although I fear the availability of others wouldn't have changed LvG's mind on his countryman.

NB Jones is quite good except the tendencies of injuring himself. Talent-wise as youngsters Jones had a higher ceiling for development. Smalling-Jones partnership negates the threat of counter attacks against us to almost zero despite holding a very high line.

SailorXY is right bout Jones... But he lacks the ability to initiate a simple attack.. He fidgets with the ball.. No confidence.. But wen it comes counter attack from the opponent[s], he and smalling are very good. In every defence the must be one ball playing defender to compliment the brut and rigid one... Jones is fvcking prone to injuries.

As for Smalling & Blind.. The duo can go for a long time if they remain consistent and committed.

Changing of CBs makes a defence unstable... If Mourihno should come, he'll still play 'em... I mean Blind and Smalling.. Alot of peeps have commended them.... I checked sqwaka' s rating... I realised Blind was our 2nd best defender... I know Jones was injured although.. I'm not advocating for a permanent pairing.. But atleast for now, the duo have done well.. And we shouldn't rush up to go get another Otamendi or Mangala.. Cos we need elite defender.. We can make ours.. We have Mcnair.. If we must another defender to partner.. I'll go for Varane or Laporte
