I got two job offers,DSS (dept of state services) - GL 08 and Etisalat as a specialist,please people which do chose? Especially considering the pros and cons of both jobs. Thanks a lot

The real life scenario especially in naija is a shocking deviation,trust me

Etisalat pays better than DSS, but with no job security. With DSS job, you can build a career, but lots of hazards.

My dear, listen carefully, I don't usually commnent on this section, but I'll advise you go for etisalat. I work with a Federal government parastat right now having worked with a private institution for 10 yrs before crossing over to civil service. The difference is clear.Go for etisalat for you'll be bored after sometime at DSS and be stuck after a while. You need the pressure at Etisalat and any young man who doesn't want that is lazy. There is no job security anywhere but look for job fufllment. You'll work with likeminded people at Etisalat & they will surely drive you to achieve more than mediocres who mostly fill civil service. My 2 cents.

It depends on what you want out of life.
Etisalat may give you the chance to become a specialist in your field and it has great work experience if you decide to jump ship. I feel Etisalat would have a better starting salary and job perks. However, there is no job security and you may be fired anytime.

With the DSS, you will never be broke but civil service work is boring. If you stay and grow with them, you will be a boss in 15-20 years and wages would have improved along with "under-the-table cash." The connections you would make on the job are enormous

DSS, job I rejected way back immediately after graduation. I can't imagine myself protecting my follow human, puting myself on the line for another person with his family while my family suffers if I die on duty. Being posted about around d country in the name of job assignment( special duty) then my wife will b having absenty husband. Family happiness is not money( that is if ur posted to protect a politician). It's being around when your wife needs you around.
Etisalat: I start planing for d next job immediately I start my present job. While their is no job security anywhere, there is no life security in DSS.
