Lovely piece. I was a victim, and was so helpless for years before Christ rescued me. The problem I had when I was still fighting her was that I could not keep away or get rid of the things that bring her. It mustn't necessarily be a sin, but could be something that occasions the sin. Such will later become a weak point.
Example of such landmines is false emotional attachments. This is the bane of so many failures encountered by people in this struggle. If you have a girlfrnd or boyfrnd whom you have been engaging in sex with, and who is not repentant like you, don't say that you will gradually leave him/her to avoid hurting him/her. Don't say that you will continue but without sex. Don't put his/her feelings before your choice or before God. This is a booby-trap that nearly caught me.
One can't walk with God holding hands with the devil or holding what belongs to him. Thank you sir.

Brother you just confirmed something I almost was trapped into doing.
Some years back, I broke my celibacy of close to 10 years because Satan kept whispering in my ears that keeping my celibacy will lead me to remaining unmarried. He will call me, he doesn't have food, pls I shd come and help him cook. because I like to cook, I will go, he started his antics again.
One day, I asked myself what I was doing? If this guy wants anything serious with you, he would ve said it or made moves.
When your prayer partners see you here, what do u expect them to believe? That you join them to pray and yet end up in a man's house?

The problem I believe is with your definitions of the terms : Sanctification and Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

I will discuss sanctification now and maybe Baptism of the Holy Spirit another day.

Firstly, the Word Sanctification means "to set apart" by God for His holy use.

Sanctification is in two- fold:

1. FIRST FOLD- Instantaneous sanctification:

This is the separation of the new believer from the world. This is instantaneous and takes place at the new birth. The moment he/she receives Christ and is born again, he/ she is immediately separated by the Holy Spirit from the world. It was the Holy Spirit that sanctified us, bringing us faith which resulted in our salvation.

2Thes 2:13
" ... because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:"

1Pet1:2
" Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: ..."

"And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."



2. SECOND FOLD -Continuous Sanctification:

This is the Ultimate Separation of the believer unto God. This is progressive and should continue in the life of the believer until he leaves this earth. It involves the renewing of the mind and the subjection of one's thoughts and emotions to the Word.

" I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

1 & 2 Explained:
It is like a man who falls into a ditch. The first thing is to get the man out of the ditch(This is like the First-fold. The believer is brought out of the world by the Holy Spirit through faith).
The next thing is to get the ditch out of him by cleaning him up(This is like the Second-fold). The believer replaces the wrong thoughts words and actions with those of the Word.

NOTE:
The one who hasn't received or isn't conscious of the fact that he has the First, cannot successfully experience the Second. His/her Christian experience will be that of struggle, frustration and condemnation.

So as a believer, praise God for sanctifying you, then you will be able to live the sanctified life.

CONCLUSION:
So you can see why those you thought were not qualified received the Holy Spirit. Because, He purified their hearts by faith in His Word. Acts 15:9.

In the house of cornelius, the bible says, while peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with peter because that on the gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. You cannot become more sanctified than the day you got born again. Regarding your question. An answer based on my own study of the bible. Please continue to study the scriptures to determine if you believe the same. One thing happens to every believer at the moment of salvation; we all recieve the Holy Spirit. Nowhere is it stated in the bible that every believer must speak in tongues. Speaking in tongues is a gift that has specific purpose, for a specific time. I use to hear story about how people got baptised and was able to say few words in tongues and got better as they continue but in my own case, I prayed, fasted , hunger for it, twice I stayed up for like 2hours in the midnight, praising and praying to God hoping I will be baptised and can speak in tongues but nothing. The hunger and thirst for it was so much that the day I got baptised was in church and I spoke in tongues like have always been doing that. I got home and spoke in tongues like I want to speak the whole tongues I have been missing at a go with joy and happiness in my heart. Wow, I remember that glorious moment now as am typing and I feel like shedding tears of joy. That feeling can not be compaired with anything the world ever offer. Week after and was led by the Spirit to another Church and there from the pastors teaching I was able to interprete my tongues that I prophesy to some group of people and after which I continue still at the program to speak in tongues and God spoke to me, instructed me through tongues giving me the interpretation of the tongues concerning something. Brethren this God is Great, who is like Him, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders. Any believer can operate the gift of prophecy. You already know.

The office of a Prophet is like a bundled distributions of streams of the spirit.

What I understand is that to speak in tongues is a gift of the spirit, its the language of the spirit and its used to edify oneself and for prophesy if interpreted in the church

Pentecost is a feast of Jews, they heard the galileans speaking in their tongue (they heard men of Galilee interpreting in Jewish language)

This in reference to acts 1:11, the two men who stood by them in white apparel after Jesus ascended, refer them to galileans

Why does the spirit groans? Why does the spirit needs to intercedes?
Its because we do not pray right, e.g, praying that your enemy should die, pray God to give you a car, etc. He wants his children to live an abundance life but what if its not yet time?

The spirit groans because our spirit is created the image of God and in His likeness, the spirit knows what we should pray for,
He knows the will of God concerning our life so what then should we do?

Why do you think Paul boasted that he prays in tongues more than anyone in 1 Cor 14:18, he understands that the spirit always pray concerning the will of God.

When I needed to pray concerning something I don't know how to put it, all I do is to ask the Holy Spirit to help.

This is how I say it "Spirit of the Living God in me, help my spirit to pray concerning this (then I say what I needed to pray about)" immediately I finish, He takes over and I start praying in tongues.

Even though my understand is still fruitful as am still growing and praying to freely and fully understands, I trust my spirit so I pray in tongues and when the Holy Spirit is done, I know it then I give thanks and that's it.

Don't forget that interpretation of tongues is also a gift, the same stream where the tongues comes from is the same stream the interpretation comes from.
Its just like English, you speak and write and can sing because u understand english language. If one is been given a book written in French and u don't speak nor understands it, you can try pronounce the words rightly but understanding is unfruitful but if you both understand and can speak, then you teach others who don't speak, write in french and translate, sing in French and translate, reveal things in French and translate to others who don't speak french.

Paul did not forbid speaking it tongues from that context, it should only be used for edify oneself by praying but if there comes a revelation from God, let him speaks to the church and interpret for the edification of the church

Happy Sunday to everyone,this is an awesome thread.I have been greatly blessed infact since 2011 that I joined Nairaland this is the first time I am commenting.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has been contributing to lift up my spirit and also shed light into deception of the kingdom darkness.
Indeed we wrestle not against flesh and blood .
Pls I need help comcerning my spouse who is in real demonic bondage.
God ordered my steps to this thread because as I speak he is brainwashed completely ans very far from God.
I have been standing in gap for some years now but the attack continued.Now he is entrangled with a strange woman too but Luke 1 :37 says for with God nothing shall be impossible.
He goes to white garment church and he has been involved in all sorts of blood sacrifices then when they got to know I was standing in gap they scattered my marriage and gave him a wife in the white garment too.
Alot has been happening but since I started going through this thread God has revealed how deep they have gone with him. I dnt want to go into full details here .My email is gadegunle@gmail.com
