They are cool questions though... The prof was just trying to 'bully' his students with grammar...

Question 6 simply means 'Discuss' the following...

While question 4 was simply asking the students to explain why military rule seemed to have worked in The Philippines and seemed not to have worked in Burkina faso and Pakistan .....

Question 2 only sought to know whether the students understand the term 'Military-Industrial Complex'

And in question 1, they were asked to discuss James McClellan's paper on Liberty, Order, and Justice as it affects them in particular and the world at large.

I don't see any bully of any kind. Every course has its language and if those students attended the lectures or even had textbooks I believe they can easily answer those questions.

Those questions look cheap to me just that its not my field.
Besides No 6 is more than discuss. You need to be logical and make sense in that 'discussion' while outlining the key features and theme of those concepts as well as examples.

* Advantages & Disadvantages
* Current situation/ Examples
* Conclusion

You may adopt the format above for number 6.
