we were listening to a program on radio, it was a student program, when one of d students answered a question dat was asked and d moderator said "clap her " i was like haaa!!!! na d new slangs be dat? someone beside said dats d correct thing, i was more confused as i never hear dat one before make una teach me, CLAP HER AND CLAP FOR HER which pne correct pass? |

CLAP FOR HER is obviously correct. Since clap isn't an action that can be carried out on a human being, the preposition 'for' directs the action 'clap' to the object 'her'. |

You can clap someone/ something (like giving a pat)or you can clap for someone like hitting the hands together. |

A simple dictionary check would solve the whole problem. Why is it easy for the op to create a thread and get opinions from foreign speakers of English than consult a dictionary?
