Freecocoa, your post is very interesting but it became disinteresting when you said; "In this nonsense world". Mind telling me why you said so. About revenge. Revenge is for the weak. An emotional intelligent person don't seek nor take revenge. Life's short. 1 Like |

Sun Tzu in his book The Art of War said; (paraphrased) : If you sit by the river bank long enough, you will see the bodies of your enemies floating by. He also said ; Revenge is best served cold with a generous amount of grounded pepper added to it. My thoughts : If the Revenge is necessary it will always afford you the opportunity to carry it out, you don't even need to seek it, it will come. Patience is very important if you ever need to strike back, wait for it. While you wait someone somewhere may even do the job for you while you observe. Timing is also very important, knowing when the time is ripe to hit back is key to dishing out the most effective kind of vengeance that would resound for generations to come. 1 Like |

freecocoa: The society we live in determines what is right or wrong. To a yourba man, a kid who tries to shake his hands will be seen as a disrespectful kid or poorly trained kid in a Yoruba way. But to an Indian, the kid had done nothing wrong. Nothing is really right or wrong unless you think it is. Revenge is a crime in the society I live in. Even when punched you are not allowed to punch back. Report to the police or keep shut. If you punch back both of you end up in jail. Today's society frowns at men beating women(perhaps in exception of Africa). Any guy who does that knows his fate immediately. We are being morally reformed as a humans specie. Those who seek revenge after being wronged are still morally inferior regardless of the amount of wrong being done to them. Revenge is not really in your best interest. An eye of an eye leaves the whole world blind. |

nmreports:I didn't know you noticed that too. I lost interest in the thread immediately I saw that statement. I will love to know why she said that too. About revenge. Revenge is sweet, but it comes with a price. A heavy one. A price that can lead the person seeking it to an emotional trauma at the end. |

freecocoa: When hurt, we naturally feel bad. I believe we all do. but God knows why He reserved that assignment for himself. Lets take David's case for example: David was good to Nabal's men even protected there flock from thieves. Yet when David was in need, how did Nabal respond? We read: Naʹbal answered David’s servants: “Who is David, and who is the son of Jesʹse? Nowadays many servants are breaking away from their masters. 11 Do I have to take my bread and my water and the meat that I butchered for my shearers and give it to men who come from who knows where?” Even while in danger you protected this man's servants and there sheep, and this is how he repays me? Nope David vowed to annihilate him. we read: At that David’s young men returned and reported all these words to him. 13 David immediately said to his men: “Everyone strap on your sword!” So they all strapped on their swords, and David also strapped on his own sword, and about 400 men went up with David Why? David felt it was unfair, he says "It was for nothing that I guarded everything that belongs to this fellow in the wilderness. Not a single thing belonging to him went missing, and yet he repays me evil for good. 22 May God do the same and more to the enemies of David if I allow a single male of his to survive until the morning" 1 sam 25:21, 22 David had reason to feel bad, but such revenge is not in his hands. God can do it in a better way. How he was helped by abigail to rethink! Why is that reasonable? because "man's anger does not work out God's righteousness". James 1:20 David planned to kill every male, but when God came to repay Nabal, He killed only him. 1 sam 25:38 Rom 12:19, God said it is His to revenge. When you revenge, it is presumptuousness on your part. The bible said about presumptuous people: Isaiah 13:11 I will call the inhabited earth to account for its badness, And the wicked for their error. I will put an end to the pride of the presumptuous, 1 Like |

freecocoa: I recently felt this way too but i can assure you that you can very well control your feelings if you really wanna. Its all a part of being mature... I understand the appetite for revenge and i tell you...revenge will surely give you some good feelings but it can also be disastrous in the sense that if it backfires....like my revenge against those who wronged me banked on them failing their exams which they all did...but b4 d result was out i had to daily pretend dat i wished dem success even though i didn't cos if it was evident in my demeanour that i prayed for their failure...it will have been double wahala for me if they eventually passed...so best thing is not to take anything personal...it's a powerful attitude dat will determine your altitude. |

/ Every action has equal and opposite reaction. Don't try to cheat nature. If you jump off a building, expect gravitational forces to take over. Can you preach against that? Revenge is in order. The thought of it is enough deterrent for some people. Take it away, the society runs wild. Eg. Blaming evil acts on satan shifts responsibilities. No! Incinerate the perperator(s). Sorry. The world is not an El Dorado. \ 2 Likes |

freecocoa:yes at some perspectives from your assertion, you are correct. But assuming we take it like this, assuming that there exist no one who forgives do you think this world would be enjoying the little peace they can muster? Forgiveness comes from Love, wisdom, and strength. Those that does not forgive are really funny, because they fail to understand, the reason they live today is because someone forgave them the wrong they did them, when they had their chance. Finally to take revenge may feel sweet at times, you might even do him better than he did you, but at the end? You are killing yourself; you're killing your humanity, and you're no wiser than the offender. Have a nice day 2 Likes |

Freecocoa since 'the Idea of a personal god is an illlusion', who gave you all these "rights" to revenge or not? Right, right, right. If we are evolving animals, how do you now KNOW that your "idea of revenge is flawed"? Well if you have evolved to the point where revenge is the in-thing for you, maybe for some of us, we have evolved past that level. Or should we all be evolving at same rate? (laughable theory). See let me tell you Freecocoa, no matter what you and your fellow free thinkers imagine, the truth still remain that there's a superior Law and Principle Setter for man. "That man's way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step". (Jeremiah 10:23) Who does it belong to? Prophet Jeremiah gives us the answer by what he says next - "Correct me, O Jehovah, with judgement". (Jer 10:24). It's Jehovah God that will tell us what is truly good and beneficial or not. So in the case of revenge, our maker has given us a manual, so to speak (the Bible) and in it he says "Do not avenge yourselves, beloved but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: 'Vegeance is mine; I will repay,' says Jehovah". (Romans 12:19) |

An Igbo proverb goes thus: There's nothing the eye will see that will make it cry blood! There no ill act that cannot be forgiven! IMO I think pple who hurt others are weak, if you can take the high road, you are a much better individual. You could take it from a Religious perspective, each time you sin, you hurt Jesus and the Father, if He decides to take His Revenge are you still going to be here? I understand maybe OP is tired of being hurt, but one thing am personally trying to learn as an individual is to never let anybody's action change who you are. |

missyadorable: Karma was created as a means of comfort for people who had been at the bitter end of evil deeds, and also, as an incentive to promote the act of good and not evil. It was also created as an alternative to revenge. Those who held firmly to their religious and moral codes which were against revenge, wanted desperately to believe that those who wronged them would face some sort of repercussion, even though they were forced to forgive them. Karma is also a belief system upheld by those who weren't able to fight or face those who offended them, so they cowered under the believe in a non-existent supernatural force that would fight for them.
