Hello all, my friend was just returned from Chicago Poe due to insufficient cash $7000. Her visa was cancelled. Please what can she do to reapply for visa and come back again within 2 weeks. Your feedback will be appreciated for those with similar experience |

PlOOT: It is well. Some post increases one heart beat. let her reapply ASAP. Do her calculation and documentation well. Choose another POE. (Now i believe bigfido). Moreso, she needs to be assertive and well articulate with the CBP. I have to coach DW over and over. You need to see serious drilling. $7,000 is not a small money (maybe she did not prove enough). Ultimately be prayerful. 1 Like |

blaize777: She had the $7k cash, bank statement which she showed to them with a balance of N1.5MM. They replied that hospital cost is inexess of $20,000 so all the fund is not sufficient. She had not paid for the hospital yet. She told them the hospital just gave only appointment but bill was communicated on phone as $5k. |

@ vcole:
damidamsel thanks years she's suspecting that I might be around 3-4 months cos of the leg swelling and is suggesting that if she's right I should just stay. But I don't Want to do that because of future applications would ascertain how far gone when I see the doctor on Monday. Going back would the letter of change of intent be the only thing that I would send to the embassy. Tnx
@misspoe.....just as @vcole has stated, you should use your time left over there to scout for hospitals n doctors, get all necessary details and bill quotes(better in hard copy) as it will be way easier than calling from Naija, get registered, schedule ur appointment and then return to Naija to do all other things such as budget sheet based on the quotes you have, PTA RUNS, etc......As per Notification of intent letter, i think its based on your discretion. Some people see it as irrelevant esp since you v used your visa 4 its purpose but i think it depends on you and your anticipated POE. For me il rather have it handy incase i come across a tough CBP who decides to ask 4 it. Ensure you go through the thread and prepare all necessary docs as v bn over-flogged here. |

PlOOT:It's dicey especially if she used a very popular hospital. For instance everyone knows Rush in chicago and except you are extra creme -de- la -creme it may be hard to convince anyone you are birthing there without having sufficient funds, unless you were given a special discount. You have nothing to lose at this point though, re-apply and see how it goes. |

Hi All, Just arrived chicago about an hr ago... we flew etihad airways and the flight was damn longgg. Took us 7hrs to abudhabi, 8hrs transit, and 14hrs to chicago @ 35weeks... while we were waiting, that was how one oyinbo came to call all of us waiting to travel to the US at the lounge in abudhabi. CBP in Abudhabi oh, then gave all of us landing cards to fill and said we will be called shortly by immigration. He explained that once we are cleared in abudhabi, we will just go straight to baggage claim in Chicago. He said it's a new service called US preclearance (kindly Google). To cut the story short, they built a terminal for this purpose and it's terminal 3. We all queued and when it got to my turn, na secondary inspection sure pass. Husband n I were the only Nigerians and some Indians. It wasn't so bad but that 15mins I spent there was the longest 15mins mins of my life... in my mind I was just like this ppl won't even ve mercy on me that is a first timer to even see America na for abudhabi they go send somebody back. Lol. Will post my transcript shortly after this so this post won't be too long. 6 Likes |

PlOOT: You did not have "burden of proof". There is a lot of risk if you don't have the documentation necessary at the POE. A telephone conversation and email may not provide proof. The VO may or may not want to let you in, this is a lot to risk if anyone is not adequately prepared. |

anonymousmum: This happens very rarely They don't update anyone's record. The letter is for the officers at Poe I remember my first foray to Houston. When I produced the letter it changed everything. They definitely couldn't see it on my record. This was very early 2014 tho. Before the letter became pure water 2 Likes |

PlOOT: Let's keep it short... 1. Is the Visa Cancellation with or without Prejudice?... 2. Did she declare her intention in naija? 3. You registered today, which isn't a problem per se but did "your friend" not inform you prior so you could have directed her here for real life lessons?? Chicago is not the kind of POE that one attempts with one kain K leg, they will humble you!! Cc bigfido , Nerf , Popri 2 Likes |

PlOOT: 1.LadyGuinivere, how do we proceed? 2.I went with letter of intent too but it wasn't my first visit, however I had detailed Dr & hospital correspondences 3. The cash isn't small for the St Francis, Mount Sinai, Roseland etc but it really is small for the IMD hospitals cos those places are minimum $20k uncomplicated Vd & that is what most of these CBP use (HMO) so they may not understand.. I can't even blame you cos none was willing to give me letter too back then & I had to use another state's!! |

modath: I am alwys wary to offer opinion when the info is not detailed. How was the visa obtained? For what purpose? Were there any 'corner corner' activities for egs lying at the embassy about pregnancy? The cash deficiency may just be one aspect of it. It is the above that can determine honest to God helpful advice. Although customs and border protection and the consular guys are technically different departments, it is a serious ish to explain why you were sent back. Only God knows what they typed in the system. In my opinion, it depends now on her next vo. Mosdef she can reapply if she wasn't banned but she now has an extra burden to refute whatever these fellows in chicago blacklisted her with. There's a chance she'll be reissued another visa provided That 1. She didn't lie during the interview 2. She can exhibit financial strenght as supposedly that was her sin. If the poster can be completely honest and also post her transcript ... Me sha I feel this is just a case of not being prepared. People come hereon and think letter of intent will cover a Multitude of issues. I mean , the poster talked about phone conversations. Who goes to poe with that?! Chicago for that matter? Its a pity shaa 3 Likes 1 Share |
