See What I Found Near Our Home by IndianBwoy(m): 12:45am On Apr 10, 2016 |
I found a snakeskin under a log. While strolling near our home. The thing is we just had a ritual worship at the forest serpent grove a while back with the family. I wanted to take it back with me to Abu Dhabi. But my uncle noticed and made me leave it far away from our home in the bush. First time I saw him so angry and frightful. Although the villagers was laughing at me, they was a bit scared to. Twas found between ours and our neighbors home. Its a shed molted skin. The snake was probably still lurking around there somewhere. 1 Share

IndianBwoy:is it compulsory one marries within his caste or even sub caste |
Re: See What I Found Near Our Home by IndianBwoy(m): 10:04pm On Apr 14, 2016 |
grandstar: Yes according to Hinduism and caste/tribal law. Its the same all over the world. Although things are changing this generation. How else can A tribe maintain its purity? |
Re: See What I Found Near Our Home by grandstar(m): 10:22pm On Apr 14, 2016 |
IndianBwoy: Among the over 250 tribes iin Nigeria, only the igbos have a caste and that consist no more than a small number of untouchables who totally reject the tag and many even marry free born igbos |
Re: See What I Found Near Our Home by IndianBwoy(m): 10:44pm On Apr 14, 2016 |
grandstar: Caste doesnt mean untouchable. Caste means occupation. E.g. among Marghi of Adamawa, you have Ingyakgu (blacksmith), Mbilim (farmer/warrior) and Mafakur (former slave) caste. And also many castes in India have tribes as well. So its basically a tribal custom to marry within your tribe. E.g. in Nigeria under "normal" circumstances, a Yoruba will marry Yoruba rather than Hausa or Fulani. An Igbo would marry an Igbo rather than a Jukun or Nupe. You get the point? 2 Likes |

IndianBwoy: The caste system is much deeper than that! I have read a lot about the caste system and watched several videos on the topic For instance, the untouchables are actual a non-caste not belonging to the 4 caste clas starting from the Brahmins. There is massive intertribal datings amongst Nigerians even though mariage may not result due to tribal differences Despite that, there are lots of intertribal marraiges in the country and much more common amongst Nigerians with middle class upbringing who are totally devoid of crass tribalism. Many can't even speak their native tongues. English is the only language they know 1 Like |
