herbie27: Kemi knows nothing indeed, have you checked recent statistics of IGR of states where Ogun is one of the most improved states in IGR generation? That is the woman responsible. The earlier we accept the fact that these whites are not that brilliant than our own people, the faster we will develop. Your thoughts here are what the west have been using to advantage of us. They made us believed we know nothing which are lies. 5 Likes |

All these because we are romancing China...LWKM. These west and their outdated neo colonialist institutions. If we embrace Flexible exchange rates, what is our productive capacity presently to counter the adverse effect of this exchange rate regime. They told Babangida Regime and Sonekan same thing and the scar is still on naira till today. PMB has people around him to know better than to dance to the tune of IMF. When i was in school, we use to study IMF conditionalities and even now, these conditionalities have not changed, just that liberal marriage law(same sex marriage has been added). Like i keep saying, let us manage our economy our own way. China did it, they are creditor to US today. UAE did it, they have become the 8th wonder of the modern world., Japan has done it and they are still doing it, why not Nigeria? Is IMF afraid of the outcome, the freedom the development after these economic wilderness? We have too many professors in this government not to have considered this option in the first place. The colonial master want to continue the plundering that left african continent in the mess we are today. Madam IMF should leave us alone. #GODBLESSNIGERIA# 5 Likes |

What do you expect from a slave master. Cheap blackmail. My concern is the Nigeria people. Can we unit and develop this country? She has tried to pressurize the president to devalue the naira, that did not work. Now she has resort to blackmail. My question has always been on who's interest to devalue? A nation that import virtually everything except air. In addition to that we are bedeviled with greedy political class. IMF please, help us to recover our loot! 3 Likes |

Chubhie:Just as someone else said, IMF and the West are simply terrified we are on the right track to fixing this using home grown mechanisms. Every international monetary organisation or even local have its conditions for giving out loans. Jst as nations have conditions for giving other nations loans. You seeks for the one who's terms and conditions are favourable. Buhari went to the IMF for a laon and didn't like it's terms so he bailed out, he even invited her over for advice and she gave him. repogirl: What if the Nigerian youths are ready to industrialize the country so as not devalue the currency... save more and buy what we produce? What if we are ready to fix it once and for all so that we can end this western slavery?... We don't have to devalue, how many people are still complaining? Have you noticed that we've been on this devalue thing and the country is still holding strong? Have you noticed that people are beginning to realize that there are a lot of rot in the system? Some of your ignorant people commenting here that we should devalue. I really question yall level of intelligence when it comes to economics Are you guys aware that the devaluation suggested by IMF have nothing to do with market forces determining the value of the naira..Rather the rapid devaluation is go more to do with deliberate artificial manipulation by IMF to make us devalue in order to create hardship in nigeria. saudi, uae, Kuwait, (and all this Arab evil countries ) why is the IMF not going to meet them to devalue the current becos of low oil price. Is it not the same oil we sell? Look, this whole thing about sudden drop in the oil price is at a result of artificial manipulation by western institutions aka slave masters to target certain countries in to further poverty. Nigeria is also included. Notice the oil producing countries the whole thing is affecting. Russia, Iran , vezulaza , etc. ...This are countries western countries want to bring down into poverty WHAT IF I TELL YOU THAT BOKO HARAM IS FUNDED AAND CREATED WHY AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES,. I have evidence to prove this. America have long been finding ways to divide nigeria by 2015. The plan dis not work and they now decide to use terrorism to achieve the goal along side with IMF Nigerians need to wake up before this evil people destroy us. what we need now is unity among ourselves to solve our problem rather than going to meet the white man 2 Likes |

herbie27: I laugh when I read contributions like this. Are there no eggheads and technocrats in the top echelon of the Ministry of Finance? Kemi knows nothing yet Ogun State, her past stomping ground makes substantial IGR? Or you think you are more intelligent than Emefiele? You guys always try to personalise issues by so doing defeating your defence. This issue is a matter of choice, and the government has chosen what it considers the lesser evil. At present, you would have connected people probably benefiting from round tripping. Yet, that is less painful for the masses than devaluation of a currency leading to a Zimbabwe-esque situation. Runaway inflation is nothing the masses can bear. So tightening trousers, getting forex for only the essentials appears to be the thrust of our policies. The present government is betting on its vaunted and expected ability to provide infrastructure, the backbone for enterprise. They feel there's nothing to gain by devaluation other than having vultures feast on our basic industries and materials. In the often cited Nigerian maxim " who devaluation don epp"? Please provide reasons why we must devalue our currency, how it is beneficial to the common man, how it impacts his take home pay, access to basic health care and infrastructure and how it promotes local enterprise. Perhaps then we can begin to accept it as the right alternative. 6 Likes 1 Share |

ojuolu:In the 21st century world that we live in, you are either inventing something or you are a source of raw material. Look at the list of countries with highest foreign savings. Majority are innovators; China, japan, india, hong kong, south korea etc. Many of these countries have very limited raw materials but they import the raw materials, refine, invent them into finished products for other countries to consume. America as at today is the largest economy in the world with an estimated value of $18 trillion, a debt of $13 trillion and a reserve of just $110 billion. Its economy is 50 percent service based, compared to the chine and japanese who manufacture everything the world consumes. Both have reserves worth $3.4 trillion and $1.5 trillion respectively. In all of these, where does africa with all its resources belong? A continent with huge mineral deposits, but majority of its people languishing in stone dearth poverty. Years of absorbing IMF policies, this is all we have to show for it. China/East or West, we none cares about our well being or development. All that matters to them is our resources. A rapid development of the continent is bad news both ways. But ask me to chose between the two, i will walk east, armed with a huge reminder board on my chest saying "Tread Softly". 5 Likes |

herbie27: Those conditions you spoke about is what the exploitation is all about. That's one. Also, for your information, the IMF and world bank also doesn't necessarily wait for countries as they're perpetually lobbying for business opportunities in third world countries. As you noted they're like banks or what you called (international monetary organizations). Banks everywhere in the world constantly lobby well-to-do companies or individuals to take loans. That's what the IMF and world bank do- which is why Ms. Largade have been all over the country meeting with from Genevieve to Orji Kalu or anybody that matter to buy her proposal. You have nothing whatsoever to offer on this debate. 5 Likes |

To those that do not really understand why the IMF is not necessarily looking out for our best interest, see the paragraph below: femiakinbully: They would rather have us devalue the Naira so that people can suffer instead of stopping some foreign imports that will affect their darling countries. NO. Even if we end up devaluing the Naira we still need to proceed with stopping some imports! 3 Likes |

Benikuuse: If 1 + 1 = 3 the Buhari is right. Unfortunately, its 2. Buhari's economics policies are bad. Soludo, Sanusi and Utomi have all condemned them. The persistent petrol scarcity is all his fault because their is no forex for the oil marketers to import petrol due to Buhari's forex restrictions. The economy is doomed. 1 Like |

rusher14:My brother you shld have checked my previous post 4 a better understanding of my view....i threw lights on devaluation so he would understand. Kemi has nothing to do wit Ogun state IGR because she's nt the masses neither is she the governor, jst as she has nothing to do wit either Lagos state which has the highest IGR nor Rivers state that has the second largest IGR. The IGR is the income that accrue to the state through its masses who pay taxes and are involved in various stages of production with government activities, Lagos state has the biggest because it's and most industrious region in Nigeria wit it's high population. I repeat IGR has nothing to do wit Kemi 1 Like |
