Bible does not condemn taking of alcohol, but condemns and forbids drunkenness. To your question, yes, it can lead one to hell. If you walk in the spirit, you will discover that alcoholism fights against the spirit because it makes the mind volatile and weakens the body, thereby making it susceptible to sin. You have to avoid, not only sins but circumstances that lead to it. Proverb 14:12 says that there are ways that seem right but the end is destruction. 1Cor 10:23 says, all thing are lawful for me but not all things are expedient: all things are lawful for me but all things edify not. The question is: are you at you best behaviour and well positioned to worship God truly in spirit when you take alcohol? The sole reason one can take one bottle, then add another and another is simply to get high. That getting high is where the problem lies. Don't get me wrong, you have not committed any sin just by tasting/taking alcohol. I stopped drinking beer, not because of sin, but because my spirit repulsed it while my body yearned for it. 172 Likes 20 Shares |

LIBERTY1980: No it is not a sin. I challenge anyone who says other wise to Cite a bible verse saying its a sin. Don't forget that the first miracle of Christ was turning water to wine. There are also health benefits to drinking wine in moderation. Getting drunk tho is shameful and condemned in the bible. No. But it condemns drunkenness as it condemns gluttony, sloth, greed etc If it did Christ would have mentioned it.
Hope this helps. Dude if u can't drink without getting drunk then for sanity sake don't drink. 24 Likes 4 Shares |

parisbookaddict: The question is: how can you measure drunkenness? Is it when one has lost his sanity and is staggering and vomiting around? Taking of alcohol is discouraged if there is no good cause you intend to achieve through it. Once you take a bottle+ you may retain a firm mind, but not a firm will. You will know what you are doing but not what is doing you. People who struggle to avoid certain sin (especially the sex related ones) usually fall back to it once they drink because of lack firm control that follows such. Only if we can "de-categorize" our actions from sin and no sin to whether it pleases the Spirit of God in us/glorify God. Only if we can worry more about what the Spirit desires than what our flesh lusts for. Then, we may understand Proverb 14:12 and worship Him in truth and in SPIRIT. 8 Likes 1 Share |

YelloweWest: Father, please in your mercy comfort this family in this time of loss. It is always so hard to understand when one is called home so young and that pain of the loss is so very great. Father...draw them near to you and minister to them.. I pray that all are saved and that they know therefore they will see her again in heaven. Father...while we know they must grieve, I pray that your presence and your love will be felt by this family to help to get them through it and that in time their love for her and theirs for them will be a joy to recall. In Jesus name...Amen! 10 Likes |

bolaji3071:This may be a little doctrinal tangent. My friend's father, a believer and a member of Deeper Life had a near stroke experience. During his healing process, he was asked by the doctor to be taking a glass of a particular (alcoholic) red wine daily, until he was fully healed. This is in tandem with the Biblical advise from Paul to Timothy to take a little wine for his health. It will be a bit extreme & erroneous to classify taking of alcohol a sin without more. 17 Likes 1 Share |

bolaji3071: Lol.. Psuedo-Christians often misinterpret the bible. Jesus himself drank wine (even the Jews criticized him for it) and he shared wine during the last supper. And do not start saying its non-alcoholic because that would be a baseless assumption. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wine / alcohol. 16 Likes 1 Share |

Drunkeness which alcohol can induce can deny one heaven. Alcohol doesn't cause drunkeness pe say, the individual who misused alcohol, does. In the same way sugar doesn't cause diabetes, the absence of insulin does. 1 Like |

Eccl 2:24 says "There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drimk and find enjoyment in his hard work".....but the Bible also makes it clear that "drunkards will not inherit God's kingdom". When you make it a habit to drink to stupor or even to drink everyday that you cant do without drink, then you are towing the path of destruction....if you know you cant handle a bottle, then take what you can handle without feeling tipsy....that's if you must drink....but for those who can handle a crate or more, is it sane to you? Thats where gluttony comes in and the Bible also condemns it....self control is key.....peace 10 Likes 1 Share |

Many Christians simply won't be able to give an answer using the Bible, part of the reason for this is that the Bible does not pronounce clearly on the matter of abstinence or it leading to hell. It is often alleged that a stand against Christians drinking alcoholic beverage is unscriptural and is an improper binding of the conscience of others. While it is a fundamental principle of Christianity that each individual has a right to act in agreement with his own conscience before God and in the light of written revelation, it should always be remembered that conscience is not an infallible guide. Our conscience about a given issue is not to act independently of Scripture but is to be shaped by the teaching of the Word of God, whether that teaching is clearly stated or implied. While there is no express command in Scripture prohibiting the consumption of alcohol there are other Scriptural principles which can be applied to the case of the Christian's use of alcohol...Follow Your conscience ! 3 Likes 1 Share |
