dollar is above $44 already...

I think you may be right.

Now. We shld worry more about why the IMF always want us to devalue our currency while the East are given bail out funds!!!

I hope wailers cld wail for brains/!!

It was always going to happen at some stage.
I'm happy S.Arabia and OPEC stood strong in the face of it all, Shale oil which is the real reason for the drop was never really sustainable and the prices have hit a bottom where most of the companies prospecting are not making a profit.

Shale oil reserves are also limited without having to go further down to the earths bedrock

We should see oil prices rebound to 50 BPD soon even if Iran join the fray, the political situation would still mean the uptake would be even across board for OPEC members.

Nigeria has some extremely rich natural gas deposits and that can be a source of wealth for us, LPG is desired for figuring many power stations as the population of Africa increases demand may increase too

Spot on Kemi, who have IMF conditionalities helped ?

Stay the course. The key is country to country deals. Now that some western economies are scared to see us diversifying into trade related Yuan they are running scared.

No to IMF

China is not flooding our markets with chinese goods. It means u can go to china with ur naira and chinese can come to Nigeria with their yaun and do trade. It does not affect what we choose to import. It only means that china is a convinient choice because they have made it easier to trade with china.

Until you realise most of the high end items , from electronics to clothing, and miscellaneous items are produced in same China.

There is a reason why different grades of items are made in China and it is because manufacture is not regulated, therefore the same station manufacturing an high end product can use substandard materials , poor quality control etc and make a similar product at a cheaper price

This Buhari's China trip is really causing America sleepless nights. The fear that we will dump the dollar for the yuan is really a big problem for US. But we wont go back. We refuse to be slaves to people who dont care about us.

Not long ago, the presidential aspirant came out to rubbish and insult us. Today they are looking for who will take their loan. To hell with them. It is better to deal with china that puts all its cards on the table and u know what ur getting into. Rather than IMF "greek gift"!

Mrs. Adeosun emphasised that what the country is passing through is surmountable, adding that government is already applying a cocktail of measures to address the problem.

“Nigeria is not sick and even if we are, we have our own local remedy,” the Minister said, in an apparent response to a question on why the government has refused to apply for IMF loans.

This's how African leaders should talk to white people. AUTHORITATIVELY!.

You can't believe the panic in IMF and world bank headquarters now that it's clear we will not bulge. And their fear is that "if Nigeria find a way to solve our economic crises, it would become a model for other third world countries" to copy. The years of slavery, colonialism, monkey de work baboon de chop, is over!. For the first time I'm very proud of this woman.

We will solve our problems for and by ourselves.

Why wait? The Nigerian market has been flooded with their products for a long time now.

The top export destinations of Nigeria are:

India ($12.4B), the United States ($10.9B), Brazil ($9.7B), Spain ($7B) and the Netherlands ($5.12B).

The top import origins are China ($11.6B), the United States ($5.89B), the Netherlands ($3.59B), Belgium-Luxembourg ($3.08B) and India ($2.69B).

So there are 19 countries in the Euro-zone? It's a new info, Thanks for curing cancer!

2. Fayose & PDP of course!

3. So bailout is actually not for parry? shocked, I thought IMF loan was a gift, my bad!!!

The ish we see on this NL!! Mtcheew! cool

Greece adopted the euro in 2001 so what has their old currency got to do with the discussion when the Drachma was replaced by the euro in 2001 LONG before the crisis broke out?

IMF should STFU & DISAPPEAR with Greek gift!

The real Greeks have been in worse econoomi doldrums since 2009 .

IMF has never posited devaluation of the Euro to "help" or "rescue" a country who is a few wrong turns away from bankruptcy, rather it's been bail outs after bail outs

Why is IMF's offer for Africans always strictly about DEVALUATION.

http://www.bdlive.co.za/africa/africannews/2016/02/02/nigeria-and-angola-may-have-to-devalue-currency

Bailout for Europe, Devaluation for Africa!! cry

God will direct Bubu, these are perilous & hard times!!

Thank you very much for this wonderful post and links provided. I'll go through each and everyone of them later in the day.

Just yesterday one foolish troll was all over the place suggesting we needed the IMF or we die. What he/she don't know is that the IMF and world bank need us more than we need them.

First of all, the Euro is - unlike the Naira - the currency of the eurozone (19 countries) and not a single country.
Secondly, Greece has been bailed out by other EU member states. Who is going to bail out Nigeria?
Thirdly, Greece received loans from the IMF.

The comparison was based on your lack of understanding.

I like ur logics bt trust me Zombies will come for ur head like a plague.

Imagine some1 saying that IMF was lobbying Genevieve and Orji to take loans as if they are members of the IMF cheesy

I am saying the loan does not force us to import. It only provides a convinient 'where' IF WE CHOOSE TO IMPORT. So china can regulate the prices of its imported goods in Nigeria. If we decide to import toothpicks, or machinery, we must give the contract to China. Nobody else is allowed to bid. If we decide not to import no problem. But anything we are importing must be from china. As well it will be favourable for Nigerian exporters to ship to china.

We should not be importing toothpicks period, it would be stupid for CBN to lift the list of banned products. Our primary Imports now should be machinery and materials for those who are already involved in manufacturing

I can't explain how happy I am that "the scales has fallen off the eyes of the Nigerian government and the African people" about the exploitative nature of IMF and world bank.

Gradually, we will also learn about the foolery in what we believe to be education that they left us.

The IMF has created an immoral system of modern day colonialism that SAPs the poor

The IMF along with the WTO and the World Bank has put the global economy on a path of greater inequality and environmental destruction. The IMF's and World Bank's structural adjustment policies (SAPs) ensure debt repayment by requiring countries to cut spending on education and health; eliminate basic food and transportation subsidies; devalue national currencies to make exports cheaper; privatize national assets; and freeze wages. Such belt-tightening measures increase poverty, reduce countries' ability to develop strong domestic economies and allow multinational corporations to exploit workers and the environment A recent IMF loan package for Argentina, for example, is tied to cuts in doctors' and teachers' salaries and decreases in social security payments.. The IMF has made elites from the Global South more accountable to First World elites than their own people, thus undermining the democratic process.

You lack foresight, your IMF overlords dont give a single fvck about Africa. They only live to serve wall street and other wealthy countries.
