Eke40seven: I do not know with which authority you are writing this strong post, or maybe you should add one or too experience to it. There are more jobs in the big cities true, but look at it critically, how much work time are you allotted as a student? Getting a 450euro job is something you can get even in jena. That's why the visa rule is still the same even if you are schooling in jena. I personally prefer to be in the small cities, where I can pay small rentage. 1 Like |

Hampy:This is not true, I know of 2 people that came to Berlin to start the summer semester and they got their visa in the normal 6 - 8weeks bracket. The department that attend to refugees is different from that which attend to students in the same foreigner office. Like I said to you earlier, your case was an extreme case and don't generalize with it. Congrats on your visa. 4 Likes |

Hi everyone. Welcome to Part3: me sef join those wey dey pray for testimony oo! Please folks, I applied to TUM before the deadline for 2 courses but I just got a reject for one!!! So, it just dawned on me that I have been stocking all my eggs in a basket. If the other one doesn't work out too( which I'm seriously praying against), then my hopes for Winter is..... Hence, my plea: which school with admissions for October still open can I apply for that is relatively easier and probably won't need me to send certified copies until admission is sure?? I'm looking at applying for Elect/ IT courses. I graduated with 5.7/7.0 in Elect/ Elect and have 8.0 in IELTS. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated! Thanks Fam! |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Keji74: 5:54pm On Apr 18, 2016 |
thefacelessguy:Yes, admission for winter is still open in some schools, you can check up OVGU Magdeburg, their elect and IT course is still open till July 15 sef(though u have to apply through uni assist), you check up on daad for more options sha. 1 Like |

Williamso:Oga, do you have to live in America to know that Americans speak English? No bragging but I can tell you that I have been interacting with loads of students from Germany 3-4 years before I came in myself and that apart, close family and distant relatives. But that is not even a basis for my evaluation alone, I said I was going to do a weighted score and use a scientific methodology behind beside the write up that will follow. And I have gathered details from a number of students, from 16 selected places in the shortlist. You can criticise after it is out. If you read well too, I mentioned that I was going to CONSIDER THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTORS FOR THOSE COMING FROM NIGERIA. I will assign a weight to them. I didn't mention people living in Germany who can speak Germans like natives or for Germans. Here are the factors, in no order of importance 1. Language: if I randomly pick 10, applicants here, 7 wouldn't know the meaning of "werkstudent" you mentioned, 7.5 wouldn't even have A1 at this point, you didn't too at this stage of application. 2. Extension of Residence - Yes, there might be ways out of it, but many students in some cities don't bother themselves for a long time because their residence extension can span for 2 years or over. (Data gathered already) and weight assigned for this factor. 3. Quality/Number of schools/international programmes/international students: Except you are in a city that offers this option, you will not know the importance. 4. Ease of jobs: This is another factor Nigerians consider mostly. 5. Housing: if you stay in an accommodation provided by school, you may not feel the impact. However, people who suffered to find private accommodation can explain more, and if you are unlucky to live in a place where rent is expensive and housing supply and lower than demand, you might be in for a hard time. (A weight will be assigned) 6. Semester ticket: This is another important factor that will affect your ease of travelling. You might not know, but some schools don't offer semester tickets, some school's semester ticket covers just a limited area; while some just have very fantastic semester ticket. I will explain how it affects you as a student and a weight will be assigned. This will be based on some info I have gathered over the years and I have been compiling seriously seriously at my leisure. Feel free to criticise, add or remove. 11 Likes 3 Shares |

ogagaejay:Here is the authority, I know 3 Nigerian students in Jena, 6 in Thuringia in total. One is still in Stuttgart with a cousin working in a factory for this short break. 2 are females who came in 2014 October, none have worked and that's no because they don't want to. For the 4th person, we attended same school here in Naija, and we just talked a few days ago, discussing about how he could get holiday jobs, he came in last winter and no job. Do you have a contrary story to present? Isn't that as authoritative as a report could get? Please, if you can get links to those 450 jobs in Jenna, link my friends who have been searching for 7 months now, they will really appreciate it. I think you are in Munich, you never know wetin dey happen for non-german speaking students in some of these backwater towns. Even for Munich self, how easy is it to get the 450 jobs the easy way you have stated it? 3 Likes |

Okay good. Now you know 3 people (2 got their visas between 6 - 8 weeks and 1 got his visa about 8 months after student visa interview). So, how would you advise your sibling to proceed? To plan for 6 - 8 weeks? Or prepare for 6 - 8 months? Or totally try to avoid the situation? Have you ever heard the Idiom - “Hope for the best and prepare for the worst”? Sure you have. The people on here are not stupid. They know what to do. I’m only sharing my experience on here. Sorry about that. BTW - Thanks Gcapable: 1 Like |

thefacelessguy: did u attend U.I? i'll advise you to not limit yourself to only schools that don't require you to send certified copies of your docs. it doesn't cost so much to certify an send your docs if you plan well ahead. with your cgpa and IELTS you have a very high chance of getting admission offers to your choice courses if you write convincing letters of motivation and apply to other institutions that may require you to send certified docs, especially schools under uni-assist. |

Eke40seven:I will continue to hint on the fact that (almost) everything will have a degree of subjectivity. What works for Jane may not work for Janet. If I had listened to posts about best or worst cities, I probably would still be in Nigeria by now. And Yes, before coming here, I couldn't say a word in Deutsch. It only took the will to learn, and now for a 6-month learner, I think I'm doing pretty good. Anyway keep up with the work, obviously more people would need that kind of information. weirdarkhitekt:A werkstudent has a side-job related to his/her program, and is contractual. So you not only earn good money (up to or more than 700eur per month), you also get valuable experience. |

I go reply after much have been said but like i'll always say, Learn German till B1 if possible before you come, as for Work matter,it's settled 60%,when you have the language knowledge and stop going to crazy little cities |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Eke40seven(m): 5:15am On Apr 19, 2016 |
Williamso:Yes, and that's why I will show all the scores and different criteria to analyse because what A is looking for is different from B. In life you need information to make good decisions. A may not even care about the language you are talking about but have a job waiting while he/she returns and don't care about jobs while B may be crippled and do not have other means to extend if he/she is given only 1 year, to that person, what do you think might be important? That's the point where I am coming from, if your city is not mentioned it wouldn't stop any from coming at all neither will it stop those in your city from progressing as well. I have seen and interacted with people over the years and most wish they had better information before making a decision. I am sure before you chose Germany, you must have analysed a number of countries based on merits and demerits and you based your choice on what you have. Its just a shame that this thread that was buzzing last year is empty now from all the old guys, it happens over and over every year that you don't get to hear from most, but I do still talk to a handful and I have an idea of what life is like out there. It also shows the kind of people Nigerians are, you take and never give back. You get watered but will never water. People on this thread becomes "those people", but one forget when their vigils were made here, If not not for that, people here would be better informed. But that's just my " by the side" rant. 19 Likes |

ChrisKonor:Sir, go and drink coffee, get on your phone and computer and read. Someone even replied you now above but because you won't read, you missed it. The cost may as well, depends on some things. Whether you use a sponsorship letter or a blocked account. You would have found the information in the first 20 pages if you had read after all these time you were waiting to be spoon-fed. 6 Likes |
