Oh! I forgot! Cross river in general is a place that is corper-friendly. They regard Corpers in high esteem, and they are treated well. Although, it's quite sad to state that there are no industries, agencies, or other parastatals available to shape one's passion & career other than teaching.


Most of their schools I'm Cross-river state depend heavily on Corpers as they have very few teachers on their payroll. Funny as it may sound, certain small-scale organisations like computer centre, primary school, small farm, bars & motels also request for Corpers.



The 2 professions that could get reasonable placements there are Doctors and Lawyers. For engineering graduates and the rest of us, it's straight to the classroom.



Another thing is if one would work his posting after camp, avoid the 'Calabar madness syndrome'. Half of all those who served in Cross-river state would apply to be posted to Calabar, but in the real sense, they are inviting trouble for themselves. It's too expensive living in Calabar, serving their is also very tasking. They get monitored 24/7 unlike those of us in the rural area. Based on my observation, the following places are good places to serve in Cross-river state;
-Ogoja
-Ikom
-Biase
-Obubra
-Bakassi L.G comprising of Ikang, and Ifiang-Nsung. Esighi is a no-no for me due to the high rate of militancy.
-Akpabuyo.


Don't ask me how I know all these places.

Lolz. I've been to every one of the places mentioned above (including calabar) in the course of my 'socializing & rocking NYSC'



I remember opening my posting letter and seeing Bakassi. I shivered! On getting to the town, tears rolled down my eyes that is this the bush I'll be spending the next one year? But eventually, it turned out to be the best one year of my life.


I'll advise everyone going for service here to go with an enthusiastic spirit & and adventurous mind. Trust me, if you believe you're gonna have a successful service year, that's exactly what you'll get.

There is no sermon you ll preach to any PCMs for us to affirm NYSC is a waste of time,lets see it for ourselves.

Also,the challenge isn't NYSC being a waste of time,the challenge is YOU; you probably didn't plan to make the time fruitful. The question is,What are you seeing?
