UBER is a global technology company that allows riders to request cars using a smartphone app. Cars are not owned by Uber but by individual "driver-partners" who drive cars they already own or by investor-partners who buy cars & hire drivers. Roles & Responsibilities

To be successful on the Uber platform, drivers must 1) know Lagos roads 2) be familiar with smartphones & GPS navigation 3) be customer-service-oriented. Driving on the Uber platform already provides steady income for a large number of drivers in Lagos. And if you own a car that is 2009 or newer and less than 100,000kms, you can put it on Uber and earn by driving yourself or by getting other drivers to drive for you while collecting a share of fares from riders. The entire Uber platform for drivers is designed to empower drivers and car owners to increase earnings opportunities.


Requirements
Driver
* Valid Driver's License (temporary is OK)
* Valid LASDRI Card (temporary is OK)
* Successful completion of background check that includes guarantor verification & psychometric exam

Requirements
Car Owner
* Car is 2009 or newer
* Car mileage is less than 100,000kms

Additional Information
Drivers driving for a car owner can make up to N60,000 or more each month
Car owners can make up to N350,000 or more each month

Nigeria is a very complex market to run this scheme. It might not be as straightforward as they make it sound for a driver to source clients and for a car owner to be guaranteed of regular income.

Car maintenance responsibilites have to be strictly negotiated and even with the best mechanics, our rough roads can almost guarantee that your 2009-2050 model car will not remain in top condition for very long. Also, a large number of people holding drivers licenses in Nigeria do not have good skills.

I registered with Uber and never bothered using them after the first try when for almost 3 hours, I could not book a ride using their app and they never provided a customer care phone number to call saying it was their policy to operate only via email and social media. I have been very happy with Metro Taxi ever since. I wonder how the larger populace who are not even savvy about using ATMs let alone apps will fare.


They have bombarded my phone with invites about this venture but sorry, its not my cup of tea. Wish them all the luck they will need and more.

They protested in Nairobi (Kenya) but have calmed down.

UBER in Lagos? Those guys are crooks, they evade taxes in several countries. The government should check them

OP, you forgot to add Abuja too. Uber started operations in Abuja about two weeks ago. So if you know Abuja very well, you can join the bandwagon.

To make it easier for you just go to jobberman and attend their trainnings.

Copy Copy is always the bane of Africans, the road network of Abuja is better suited for this than Lagos

It will definitely take some time for this to work and be commercially viable.

Please note that drivers/partners are not employed by Uber! It is just an app that connects riders and passengers. All vehicle maintenance, servicing, fixes, accidents, complaints are borne by the car owner.
Also, drivers have to handle cash so getting drivers you must find one you can trust. Getting a smartphone, data, credit are all partner expenses. Please be aware BEFORE you try and enter!

Abuja Really nah they started in Lagos, they just commenced operations last month in Abuja.
