So just to have gist this weekend. Based on this post by the VO on their thread with emphasis on the bolded... abujaniv:Maybe we should adopt a new style in answering questions for example Q: why are your going to the US? A: for vacation. I have been working for 3 years now and saving up and I feel I deserve a trip to wind down. Moreover, I have always wanted to see the empire state building since I watched kingkong so this is my opportunity to fulfill that long time dream Or A: Family visit. My brother lives in connecticut and since he travelled in 1988, we have not seen. This would be a great opportunity for my family to meet his wife Shanikwa and 3 kids Ada, Obi and Oko. We always speak on the phone but the chance to see them face to face will be a pleasure on both ends. In this kind of situation, you have created avenues to lead the vo to ask you the questions you want. I believe you will also show boldness. This was the strategy I adopted for my interview in ninteen kpirigidim. When asked why I waasnt travelling with oga, I said cos he's busy and we just came back from uk. I felt the lack of travel history was the reason I was refused the last time so I led the interview path there. And sure enough, the next question was, ' oh , you have travelled before?' Lead the interviewer to your strenghts. #namyopinion 7 Likes 1 Share |

The best advice is to keep everything simple. Anything you write or say should be like normal conversation. No trying to be clever with long words or speeches practised in front of a mirror. Worse nothing copied from the internet, if you have seen it online, so has the Visa Officer. Remember. no speeches ! normal conversation words and phrases. |

Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana. Are all these countries good as a travel history for US visa? Please enlighten as I prepare to reapply soon. |

grabeconnie:hmmmmmmmmm don't think so ooooo because me hv travel to dubai 8 time and I apply dey did not give me so I don't think travelling history is the problem the problem to mk them understand that u will come back to ur country after visit |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by worry359(m): 2:28pm On Apr 23, 2016 |
grabeconnie: Visa officer is not impressed by visits to other African countries. If you are only going to get a visa stamp you are wasting money. Strong ties to prove that you will return return home, and good financial record will be much more help. 1 Like |

LadyGuinivere:LadyG you're right because during my second interview ''He asked me why I want to visit the U.S'' and I told him I'm visiting U.S to attend a fraud conference that was organised by certified examiners and also the title of the conference and date as well.. He asked me why it's important for me to attend the conference then I told him about the contract we won from Federal Govt to investigate some agencies and also how the skill acquired will help me in fighting fraud in Nigeria.. The V.O was nodding and asking personal questions as well as why I was refused by U.S earlier and also U.K People talk as much as possible and also be brief as well try to make sense oooo |

seyewest:wow...that's nice but which career is that bro and on the conference, I don't think I can pay less cause the amount to pay is already stated on there website unless I pay directly to USA branch in Atlanta which is why am asking how to go about it |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by seyewest(m): 10:24pm On Apr 23, 2016 |
siina:The truth is that if you have a U.S visa why bother paying for accommodation and feeding which will be provided by ICAN (Very expensive) ask for the cost of the conference and pay for it as well as arranging your feeding and accommodation. it will save you some $$$ |

Hilda , you willbe asked thesame sort of questions they asked you before and to every other applicant. You can just flip through the thread for transcripts of questions people have been asked |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by FrontPageLawyer(m): 4:23pm On Apr 24, 2016 |
Hilda2016: Lack of preparedness caused you the visa. Also, it makes no economical sense for your uncle to sponsor you as an adult vacationing in the US except you're a minor and sponsor is your parent, spouse or partner. For an adult to qualify for a tourist visa, they must meet the visa requirements and have strong financial ties to cover their trip. You should reapply with your husband who will be your sponsor and be be ready to present your case to the consular officer in a clear and concise manner. You only have few minutes to convince the officer why your visa should be approved. Outline all the points you want to make especially the question "why are you travelling to the US? @LadyG did a very good job this morning by giving clues to that very question. Not sure anyone here should have a problem with this very important question again. 1 Like |

Hi everyone, Gud evening ,pls I will like the house to help me out on this, my family applied for US visa last year May but we were denied because of our financial incapabily as written in d paper given to us despite the fact that husby earns 250k and I earn 80k and we've both travelled to Kenya before. Now hubby alone for conference or vacation wants to apply what are the chances and how prepared should he be? Though he has been promoted at work and now earns more and I have a registered business too but my own leave wasn't approved so that's the reason why am not applying with him. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by seyewest(m): 9:39pm On Apr 24, 2016 |
@Hilda what you earn in Nigeria is like minimum wage in U.S so how can you convince the V.O that you will return to Nigeria? secondly how can your uncle sponsor your trip? Why not your husband? little things like this makes a lot of difference... remember for you to visit U.S on your own salary will cost you at least 6 months of your salary |
