Hello House, congrats to all the new mothers, May God bless your LOs! Pls I need advice from this forum , I have a layover of 7hrs in Dubai and Emirates is only providing accommodation (Dubai Connect) for the inbound flight. I am thinking of getting a hotel accommodation myself as I will be traveling with my 3 kids and a nanny (hubby joinning us later) . Has anyone done this before? tried searching but couldn't find anything. Is there any hotel inside the Dubai airport that I can book? And lastly will I need transit visa for the few hours.
Septemember moms going to Houston can we connect I will be leaving in August! Have a beautiful weekend all!!!

There's a hotel at the airport, they are located at both terminal 1&3. But try to book at least 2 to 3wks before your travel date as they are usually fully booked except for the mega expensive rooms. And no you do not need a visa. You can book yourself. Google airport hotel terminal 3, thats emirates terminal. My husband and i do it.

misty girl if you won't be leaving the airport you might not need to transit visa but a visa for all of Una will be expensive o with this exchange rate if you can afford it why not but before you go into town and come back and sometimes traffic to the airport in Dubai T1-T3 I always crazzzyyyy!! I have been in it before on two occasions, please ehn the airport is very big enough there should be a hotel in the airport try to search the Internet or call emirates i'm sure they will provide a solution to the airport hotel, I advice don't bother going into town since its just 7 hours, cheers

Thanks Chloe7, I will call Emirates.

The most consistent answer i get on regarding a "Mile 12-like" market where one can buy foodstuffs wholesale is a place called DIKKO MARKET, ALONG SULEJA ROAD.

Dont ask me for directions o... No idea... tongue

Some also say Karu market too...

I would like to know if anyone has used a doctor or hospital in Connecticut. The ones I called were really expensive.

I would appreciate any information.

Thank you.

Dikko market is after Zuba, After the bypass into Suleja, drive down about another 4-5km, the market is by the roadside, can't miss it.

Karu Market is after AYA/Asokoro, Abacha Barrack (dem get some baddest roasted fish), After Kugbo furniture market, the drive down to the first bridge, ask for direction from there....

Karu market (15-20mins from CBD) isn't as far as Dikko, Dikko is over an hour's drive from city gate... No traffic & doing 100-120!!

My pipu

My Couz is pregnant and desperately need to choose between Houston Northwest Medical and Oakbend Medical Centre. Was just looking like 'Lookman' when she asked me.

I intend using Oakbend cos of Ezekiel but I don't know anything about NHMC, she couldn't place d advs against d 2.

Which wud u rather advise her to go for? And yes it's a matter of choice too but she's very confused as I was too.

Many thanks

Hi dear, saw ur pm.might as well answer here.
Not sure u may want to use my hospital though cos it was quite pricey compared to lots of other dallas deals.
I used methodist Charlton and hospital cost was 4500 for vaginal delivery, I probably will pay more though cos I was under observations in hospital b4 I gave birth.only God knows how much they will charge. Am still in hospital.peadatrician was 600
CS in the hospital is 7000.
My doc was 2700 and it includes lab works.
In dallas though there are so many good deals like doctors hospital which is 3000, JPS hospital which I hear is 4500 for everything and someone also mentioned baylor carrolton.i will advice u research these

The only ish I can think of with Qatar is the long layover time. Waiting at the airport for 9 hours up is not beans. Especially if you're travelling alone. But the service is top notch. Very nice air hostesses and reasonable leg room. There's also wifi at Doha so you can catch up on nairaland while waiting cheesy

Na so we dey roll o. We go all the way from Lekki axis to Oyingbo and Ajegunle markets to buy wholesale foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables...

Even on NatGeo channel, I see the lions and elephants and etc going far on foot to find the food, not to talk of me wey get car... Its my Ajekpako Aploko extra mile runs...

And its quite a happy thing for me buying a big basket of mangoes for instance, and the kids can eat as much as they like... For same price as i would buy just half a dozen on my axis!!

But i recognise that some may not see my point and thats okay too! smiley

Try it, you just might get hooked on it too... You never know!

Hi Ify. Don't be discouraged. I don't think I started producing till the 3rd day! The lactation consultant kept coming in to see us and said I should just keep trying to feed that it will come eventually. And it did. They also gave me a manual breast pump to use for 20 mins 3 times a day to help stimulate it. The hospital I birthed at wont give a bottle. They said baby will be fine and we should just keep at it. By the third day, we were good to go!

Don't worry, It's a natural process and will happen soon enough. It is well...

Congrats wolefola. Jeez it not an easy somtyn. I av called over 10 hospitals in newyork brokyln, still doin my research sha. Got some names here while odas were gotten frm Google, anyway i'll give the house a feedback wen I'm tru. I pray I get one that accept PTA so I can pay medicals in advance n start ticket hunting later.

P.s Atimes new mama's in this sectn of the forum don't comment cos we av notn 2 say much. We can't advice on hospitals, gynaes etc cos we ve not experienced them yet so I'm sure we'll surely post frequently well wen the time comes. Bsyds all av learnt is that personal research made gives one peace of mind, I dnt send pm's for inquiries cos me no sabi take shit or be ignored n I wudnt want to be tagged as an agent. Anyways see more of me once i've paid my bills or gotn a solutn around it. Team September mama's. Kisses to you all.

@ify4charm, u can try akamu that's if som1 can help u wit it or enof liquid. Let lo continue to suck ur breast like that n make sure you latch her well. Let her mouth cover the whole areola or wot is it called so that she trigger the milk out.

Hello house, please what options do one have to pay for baby's passport? Money order, card, cash, etc.
Just want to be sure.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by Omodadi2: 5:19am On Apr 24, 2016
@Ify4charm, the consultant you mentioned should have helped you out with back massage to activate the secretion of the breast milk hormone prolactin. You can demand for that if someone is there with you.
Moreso, place the baby at the closest distance to the breast( taking baby to breast and not breast to baby) while ensuring that your areola is completely covered with baby's mouth. Your dietary intake is also an important determinant of breast milk secretion.
These has worked for new mums and I hope it also work for you. Cheers and God bless your LO.

Congratulations momma.

While it may seem like nothing is coming out when your LO sucks, she is actually getting colostrum which is sufficient for the first days post birth before your milk starts to flow in full.

I experienced this with my first child and was encouraged not to introduce anything else. The lactation specialists also helped with their industrial breast pumps to stimulate my breasts. My milk didn't flow till day 4, but I can assure you my baby was and is fine. They lose weight and gain it back in a matter of days.

Well done.

Like others have advised, it is very important the baby keep sucking. It will eventually come. But I will also advise that
1) u take a lot of fluid, like hot beverage or pap even warm water ( that s assuming u had a vd)
2) if you are staying with someone. Let them help find palmwine for u. If its possible.
3) can someone also get u hot and very watery nsala soup or onugbu soup.
4) u are supposed to have been doing this since three months. When u take ur birth, take a hand towel and gentle wipe ur nipples ( pls don't scrub or remove anything with your hand) as some particles tend to block the opening, so ur lo will have to suck to open it up if you have not been cleaning it. This also makes it easier for the baby
But 24hr is still OK and nothing to worry about. Keep trying it will soon happen. Congrats

@ simababe ,
U can't pay for ur medical abroad or get pta without ur ticket. So if that was ur intention, get a ticket first after u must have decided on which hospital and doctor to use. If u have the money, buy ur ticket now. Person no know which Nigeria is heading to
