Really? I have been using my hand to peel the thing blocking my nipples. Will this delay milk? I was told I should also use olive oil and cotton wool to start cleaning from now. Please advise me sister.

Hello house, please what options do one have to pay for baby's passport? Money order, card, cash, etc.
Just want to be sure.

You could buy money order at the post office, you can also use ur card to pay as long as the surname on the card is same with the applicant's surname. I found the money order option easier though.

I was told by my mother who was advised by her mother that the use of hand can result to some minor injury or make the nipple over sensitive so when ur lo starts suckin it might experience some injury on the nipple. I use hand towel to Wash and apply Vaseline after . I guess olive oil is good too. It will soften those things and make it easier for you to remove them. The use of hand does not delay the flow of milk.

My sister, you don dey rival some people here for comedy o. Thanks for making me smile though.

For internal flights, I have flown Jetair and Southwest within America, both of them have excellent customer service! Shame go catch you when you compare to our local airlines. I only prefer Southwest because the first two check-in luggage (50pounds each) fly free, every other airline charges for it one way or the other.

If you are afraid of missing flights, put a day or two between your two flights, book one of those hotels close to Heathrow that have airport shuttle, there is a complimentary phone somewhere (they will give you directions) where you call them upon arrival and they usually pick you within 10 to 15 minutes. They will also drop you back at the airport. That way you won't miss any flight.

Also, for Southwest, if you cancel your flights, you do not lose your money, the money only stays in your account to be utilized for future trips...anyway things can't be that bad, we be naija we go sha find a way sha ni.

Tip: if you are going in Summer, you need to book the hotel long in advance because the price will skyrocket closer to the travel date.

I have noticed that local flights don't take off from JFK in New York. Flights can either be gotten from Laguadia or Newark. If that's the case, how do I shuttle arriving in JFK and catching a flight to Houston?

I am also trying to use wakanow to book one way from Lagos to JFK and one way return from Houston to Lagos. Do you envisage any challenges with at the Point of Entry when I present tickets from 2 different airlines and 2 different locations?

I'm due in July and leaving in June as well. I'll be staying with my sister and mum in Houston but at least, we can hook up, share a rented car if necessary. Besides, it will just be nice to know another Naija preggy around. I intend to fly directly to Houston by Emirates.

@ify4charm, u can try akamu that's if som1 can help u wit it or enof liquid. Let lo continue to suck ur breast like that n make sure you latch her well. Let her mouth cover the whole areola or wot is it called so that she trigger the milk out.
@ify4charm this doesn't necessarily work for all but there's no harm in trying it. So, try cleaning your areola and nipples with olive oil or what ever natural oil you see. Sometimes dead skin cells clog the pores of the nipples. Happened to two women I know here in naija. The nurses had to clean their nipples with olive oil. Just for the future, if this works for you, do it once a week / two weeks until delivery delivery.

Don't worry. Just keep calm. Use the olive oil once a week or every 2weeks, don't put too much pressure on yourself to clean. Just clean like you are gently wiping a surface.

I'll be using a birth center in Katy Texas, but I'm in Lagos. I was thinking of breaking my flight through New York because of the issues I've read about with Houston POE but after I read another poster that with have any issues with $8k on her, I decided I'll just go through Houston and pray all goes well.

Let's hook up though. I'll like to have a partner in this journey.

Please which hospital did you use in Boston and what were the cost like?
Hi we used Beverly hospital in Boston, drs fee was 2500
Hospital was 7200, these are after self pay discount
Roughly 10k, we were Elpaso bound but my aunty insisted we stay and she took care of the drs fee for us since I said we were on a budget which was the reason for planning to go to elpaso, so she said sincr i would spend about that same 7k by the time i add flght to and fro, accomodation, feeding local transport etc, so i might as well stay in boston and spend d 7k without d other stress, we still have some people with heart of gold, God bless her real good
She even organised a baby shower and u need to see gifts

And if u think of the stress of dragging bags from terminal to terminal. Then add the wahala of paying for baggage on your connecting flight. It could be tiring

Ah ah! Them harsh o! That's very unusual. In my time, I arrived in April, my visa expired in August, I was stamped in for 6mths!

Nefertitiram, turns out you were right all along. So, I checked my i-94 info online and discovered I've been admitted until Oct (6 months as against the 3 months I posted). I thought it was 3 months cos on the stamp "admitted until" had "VOID" written on it (so I assumed I was admitted until my visa becomes void which is in 3 months.
Nothing about my trip has changed except for the little "education"...#goesbacktowatchingtv
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by happytbaby: 11:43am On Apr 24, 2016
You are right. Most local flights originate from la guardia.

There is a shuttle from JFK to La Guardia which takes about 50 minutes. Its 14 dollars per person (adults) , kids ride free. Check the link below for details, its actually quite easy.

http://www.nycairporter.com/OurServices/LaGuardiatoJFKShuttle.aspx

Instead of booking two different airlines, please go to the website of the airline and use the option 'multiple destination'

You then specify each leg of your trip, for example, go to BA and book 'Lagos to JFK', specify date and return leg will be 'houston to Lagos'. I am not sure if Wakanow has multiple destination option but they should.

If you have local flight ticket to Houston, it should not be a problem.

There are several ways to address this and ensure milk flow as some people advised already.

Olive oil worked for my wife. If your husband is with you, he should also help in sucking them for milk. You might find it slightly painful initially but his sucking it regularly for milk flow will save your LO a lot of stress upon arrival. Please make sure you clean up to keep it hygienically clean for LO.

Hope this helps.
