How many people have the Niger Delta milltants killed in comparism with the number of innocent souls those savage and blood thirsty fulani vandals/ herdsmen have despatched prematurely to the great beyond, please fill in the blanks and then you would be able to decipher the group that deserves to be treated as terrorists.

Sometimes I have to reluctantly agree with Senator Ben Murray-Bruce. A lack of common sense is at the root of many of Nigeria's problems.

When you know that a massive portion of Nigeria's power generation comes from gas powered plants, and when you know that militants and vandals are sabotaging gas pipelines, starving our plants of fuel gas and hence plunging your entire nation in darkness...why will you be foolish enough to wail when the FG takes steps to fight pipeline vandals?

LEave politics aside and embrace common sense! Attacking Buhari for facing this issue squarely yet they will still wake you up at 2am to put on the generator undecided

And you think force is the solution? Tell me about that issue that was resolved with force in the ND?

You really think we can continue crude and gas production amidst a war in same location?

Was force responsible for the increase in generated MW few years ago?

Now remind me what you said common sense was again?

it is a sorry case. shell lost over 400,000 barrels per day due to blow up. Niger Deltans don't need armed forces. They need development. come to think of it Agip runs a gas plant in Kwale areas of Delta state but the community does not have light. it is saddening. Yaradua did well in terms of crisis management. Am sorry Nigeria may just replicate 0 barrels per day just like they did have for power generation.
and who is to develop the region when their governors and other leaders run away with billions voted and released for the region? if and when government attempts to recover such monies from the wicked looters the same victims will shout witch hunting to high heavens.

Negotiation is the key
Violence have and has never helped ..buhari should understand this

Force is always the last resort if it will ever be used

ICT is the new oil..not crude oil. The earlier we start investing in intellectual capacity the best

But we have refused to think ...even the crude oil we can't even add value to it by refining

Buhari pls take it slow ...have a chit chat with these creek boys

Me beign a Niger Delta citizen, can tell you that Buhari is making a big mistake if he thinks he can end the Niger Delta militancy through war.Nigeria have a lot to loss when it goes into a full blown war then those APC hypocrites will understand what is called diplomacy.Let the Tribalist, Religious and divisive Buhari start the war and let's see where it ends.Thanks.

I'm in total support of this. all those vandals destroying pipelines and causing both economic and social hardship to this country should be dealt with. I'm appalled that some people can even raise their voice against this directive. Is it not the reason there is epileptic power supply? And the same set of people will rush to blame Fashola as if he is the one responsible for the sabotage.

Some people's attempt at playing opposition is now sheer foolishness.

President Muhammadu Buhari has made good his threat to deal with those blowing up oil installations in the Niger Delta like Boko Haram terrorists are being dealt as he has dispatched the nation’s service chiefs to the oil-rich region to confront the resurgent militancy and secure the area from economic sabotage and other acts of criminality.
It would be recalled that Buhari had while in China, warned those behind unlawful activities in the region to either desist from any criminal acts and economic sabotage or be ready to be treated like terrorists operating in Nigeria’s North-east.

In line with a presidential directive, a team, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Gabriel Olanisakin, accompanied by the Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas yesterday stormed the headquarters of the Operation Pulo Shield in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Speaking on the inspection tour, Olonisakin pledged the resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces to deal with pipeline vandals, oil thieves, kidnappers, cultists and sundry crimes in the Niger Delta region, even as the team identified 10 security threats in the region.

The CDS, who was conducted round by Commander of Operation Pulo Shield, Maj-Gen Alani Okunlola, explained that: “The visit followed the strategic directive of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammad Buhari, to deal with identified security threats in the Niger Delta,” adding that the visits was to access the challenges of the troops with a view to addressing them to ensure operational effectiveness in dealing with the threats.

According to him, “I am in Yenagoa on operational visit to Operation Pulo Shield as well as the Boat House vessel we have in Akassa.

“It is such that we can understand the challenges they are facing here and address these challenges to enhance their operational effectiveness and efficiency.”

Mr president sir, i think you are wasting the limited available manpower to tackle criminal activities in nigeria. deploying all da service chiefs to the niger delta is a misplaced priority sir.

The fulani herdmen are there commmiting all kinds of crimes against humanity and these service chiefs are just there with their pot bellies doing nothing. perhaps waiting for presidential orders. Again the boko boys are there slaughtering the country, yet you did not deployed the so called service chiefs to handle them all you told us is boko haram have been "technically defeated" its annoying that up to this moment, we do not have a clear cut of where this administration is headed. too bad.

I don't think they are fighting government ..they have the right to manage their resources and pay royalties to government and that's how is done elsewhere . to me it's consensual and commonsense

maybe they have determined already- that their money for development should be looted by a few. then we should not talk abt development again. nobody eats his cake and has it. I think the average mentality of Nigerians every where is faulty. people embezzle common wealth of citizens and the same citizens in turn worship them as gods. so sad.

@Ijaya123: They are not foolish. The disease in Nigeria is "ignorance". Illiteracy do make people speak so confidently on "nonsense".

Sadly, we have two facts:
1. A large proportion fall into the bucket titled "Ignorance".
2. It takes a while to educate generations of people neglected to provide for themselves, what would be regarded as basic levels of Knowledge and Character.

If they were to sit quietly for a while to identify Nigeria's top 3 security challenges. Would they submit that the Leadership has erred in their priority of approach?
