osabuohein: Is SOLAR Inverter, different from those used with Batteries, charged by Nepa? Thanks |

Excuzeme:Yes bros. Solar inverter uses sunlight to charge while those powered by batteries need Nepa or a generator to charge its batteries. But solar inverter still remains the best. |

GODAKPAN: I am interested in solar, to me solar is the best, inverter is short term solutions and still make u depended on PHCN, GEN and Solar and the battery of inverter has a lifespan of 6 years or even 5 years. So in 5 years I will have to start saving or running to buy another sets of batteries? No way, I'd rather do the needful now by investing on Solar. Now my question are, are u in Lagos?, aside the solar panel which you say cost N48k each what else will be required to use the solar. I need all it takes to get a solar in my house so if you give me an idea and all the prices involve in getting Solar I can use my calculations to know how much I'm supposed to budget for the solar. |

DMerciful: For years... I don't use gen.. Only Inverter to power my Aos. I use 3.5 with 4 batteries... Should upgrade to 8 soon. Just got a 6kva gen last month to charge the batteries to super level cos the power we ve in the area ain't good enough |

The truth is when you start using inverter you really cannot do without it. I will advice you to incorporate solar like 10 pieces of 200w of about total 500k plus charge controller and forget about the upgrade to 8batteries. The solar will pay you by far. nairalandbuzz: |

Nope...it can not. U need about 10 pcs of 200w to be able to conveniently power such loads. 9jatatafo: |

A good charger will improve the lost capacity but I'm getting a device(desulphator) from China. Once it arrives and I try it and its OK...I will feedback the house.how long have you been using ur batteries and what make is ur inverter? Boss13: |

The majority of our devices run on AC. Your panels are DC. You need to get AC from the inverter. Most solar installations will not have that much "excess" output to charge the batteries(usually in large banks), after you have powered the house. Agreed, you could shed the daytime load, or have a design that splits between charging and running your daytime load, e.t.c. bigtt76: |

bigtt76:the 5kva cost N65000 to build, it can power my ac, fridge, cooker and all my electronics. if you dont have much load like ac and refrigirator and ac i can build the 1.5kva for you for N25000 |

I've been using this for four yrs now I don't use it to power my iron, fridge, Ac, and water pump i use energy saving bulbs and electrical appliances. On a full charge it can take me for 12hrs 1 Like

Here is my take on this inverter issues.. Firstly anyone thinking of having a solar inverter instead of the normal one should understand that you must be looking at a cost of over 700k for a good reliable one. I bought an inverter last year august and its still giving me 3 - 4 days of power if i can use it only 6 hrs a day for what i need.. Now this is exactly what i will like to share, inverters are the best only if you know how to use them. You must at first get a good one and good batteries which is the most important of all.. The second most important thing is the load/usage.. whenever anyone hears about inverter i am usually asked some questions like will it carry fridge, ac, microwave, washing machine and the rest then i laugh. The truth is that its an alternative to our Power crisis not a cure and i can guarantee you that even solar power isnt a cure either because you still have to rely on batteries. To cut the long story short is this. Buy a good 1.5kva inverter with 200A batteries x 2 or x 4(dry cell ooo). I use just 2 batteries anyway. and get a professional to install it in such a way that only the useful stuffs will be on it like your fans, power savers and tv sets. and final do not use your inverter over night.. Just get a rechargeable fan and enjoy your sleep believe me your inverter will work as if its not stressing itself. Final note is that always off the inverter when you hear the low battery sound. Make sure it doesnt switch itself off.. this kills the battery.. 2 Likes |

Re: How my inverter is saving me in this poor power supply and no-fuel situation by DMerciful(m): 4:35pm On Apr 25, 2016 |
You are right. Let me give the house a free design If your battery is two 200AH deep cycle batteries, u need a current supply of 30A for 7hrs to charge fully. In addition if your load is 300w from the inverter, u need 300/24=12.5A. So in total, u need 42.5A from the solar panels to power your load and charge your batteries at the same time. Now since you need 42.5A @ 24V in total, your solar panels should be 24*42.5*f=1020f, where f is the factor for the varying angle of the sun's beam. All in all, you need about 1500w solar panel bank. The 480w difference is to compensate for the sun's angle as a solar panel of 200w is actually 200w when the sun is at 90 degrees to d panel. In order words its the power of the panel is rated power p*cos€ where € is sun's angle bigtt76: |

Never use locally made inverters, they have poor charging system and will charge ur batteries to death! Goahead: |
