If John snow is really dead, why is his body still on a slab and not burnt. He may be dead but I believe his body still has a role to play.
Mostly boring episode except for the Mellisandre revelation.

Seconded grin

That Red lady Melisandre is old af. That part really creeps me out. Just imagine ...Stannis....not only, burnt his own kid alive, caused his wifes suicide, got killed when he should have lived, but now we find out he got duped into shagging a nasty old woman.

grin

Well, think of all the "working experience" she's accumulated...

Boring? Me thinks you need to take a chill pill, every episode doesn't have to be sword fights.

Poor Stannis. Only if he was alive to see the real Melisandre.

In bringing new revelations, its boring. Everything except Mellisandre was predictable.

So you knew there would be a coup in Dorne? That Dany would be told to go to Vaes Dothrak to stay, abi? *In Shao Kahn's voice* Don't make me laugh.

Anyway, that Trystan na better mumu. Immediately, he turned his back on Obara, I began to laugh.

As in eh the boy is the king of weakness. Nobody ever taught the niqqah neve to turn his back on an enemy? undecided

I tire for the guy sef. With all the expectations being heaped upon this Season 6, I personally believe this opening episode delivered an 8.5/10. Is Jon Snow dead? Is Stannis dead? Did Sansa and Theon survive? What happens to Dany? How are Tyrion and Varys fairing? All these questions answered in the very FIRST episode, PLUS lots of subtle hints at what the future holds for almost all the Game Players. The angle not covered in this episode is Bran and the Three-Eyed Crow, and I suspect the next episode with focus on that... HOMECOMING!

If i hear anyone mention Rickon... grin

Hehe, sure these directors won't go ahead and relieve us of the suspense on Jon snow with the first ep, they just won't na... The suspense must continue but for how long?

Attaboy theon. Willing to give himself up for sansa.
I loved how brienne came through for sansa if not, she'll be dead meat going back to ramsay.

And melisandre and the dornish women, I didn't envisage those coming...nice twist.

@arya, I have a feeling she's being trained for a great task ahead, but for now, she has to learn how to fight blind.

In all, well, not a bad start even tho I expected more.

What's the deal with Ellaria killing Doran and Trystane? That's just the problem I have with the episode...

I think you feel this way because you've been eager to know the fate of Jon snow which is still unknown.

Try watching it a second time.

It's up to melisandre to give life to Jon snow I think.

No show can maintain unpredictability across six seasons. That said, I think dorne was unpredictable. There was even nothing to predict sef. It's all build up. That's how the show has always been. The first 5 episodes are build up for the last 5.

Although, the episode was kind of short because I wanted more.

Dorne has always been the weak point since it came around. I mean, I understand the logic behind the killing but when she mentions that the people don't like the Prince, that came as a shock because there was no build up.
R
Scenes in dorne have only taken place in the water gardens, we have no idea who the dornish are or How they feel.

Ellaria isn't even the brightest. We know that she loved oberyn madly (only oberyn) and she desperately wants a war to avenge his death (even tho he wasn't murdered, no one forced oberyn to fight and also, he was defeated fair and square). Sh is a dumb girl who is hell bent on revenge at all cost.

It's just the water gardens we see in dorne, nothing else. And that's just bad.

It was a matter of 'Killed or get killed'

She would have been killed instead. That note given to Doran talks about myrcella's death and it would have been traced to her.

Killing Trystane makes her queen, just what she wants, no more weak kings ruling dorne.

She's definitely someone to look out for as the series unfold.

Killing anybody wouldn't make anybody Queen. Doran wouldn't have killed her IMO...probably send her to Ghaston Grey for the rs St of her life. Killed or get killed ?!

Naa... We have history stretching back YEARS on this thread. I've grown kinda attached to it abeg. I understand how quite a number of folks may not have seen S6-E1 yet, but methinks 48hrs afterwards is enough grace period before allowing discussions. You could maybe do the thread-lock thing (like you used to last year) then unlock again for discussion say 24-36hrs after the airing of an episode. It certainly worked then.

But I can imagine why you may consider giving a S6 a new thread... This Seun sef, you like business sha!! grin grin

Dorne loves the Mar tells.

That's what I thought but they obviously don't(maybe they do in the books). The guards didn't even blink. They obviously do not support the Prince and based on her speech, the people have grown tired of him.

The idea that he was loved wasn't promoted in the show in any way. That's why I said we do not know much about the dornish people. If they loved the Prince, the guards would have done something.

Don't we all? Unfortunately there's only so much that can be squeezed into 50 minutes.

A couple thoughts on S6-E1 though...

- Numero Uno: Jon Snow is dead. Yes. For now.

- Where is Brandon Stark?? angry grin I've waited TWO WHOLE YEARS see him do some serious warging!

- Is it just me, or does a close-crop look cool on Cersei? And talking of Cersei, isn't it true genius that this shows producers have, between the end of S5 and the start of S6, managed to make us actually start feeling pity for this devilish woman that KILLED her husband?? Mmm, food for thought.

- And then Jaime Lannister starts regrowing his lion claws... on just one paw though. grin

- Well look-ee here, the big-boned Septa is still around!

- That Dornish coup, I did not see that coming! I don't agree that Doran was weak, but Trystane... tsk-tsk. No true dornishman would turn his back on an enemy. However... the dornish are supposed to be fiercely loyal to family - isn't that why Oberyn came to avenge their sister? Seems out-of-character then for Ellaria to murder Doran AND his son - even they were "weak".

- While Doran was bleeding away his life blood, I kept wondering, Where the heck is Littlefinger? After all he's done, I can't imagine any murdering and racketeering happening without him somehow involved.

- Still on the matter of weakness, isn't King Tommen (First of His Name, King of the Andals, the First Men and the Rhoynar, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm) the epitome of spinelessness? His own queen is STILL in prison! grin grin

- Did it seem like Brienne was about to cry after Sansa accepted her service? And then there was Theon a.k.a Reek-that-rhymes-with-Meek looking on and nodding his approval! Lol... grin I guess Sansa's headed north now, yes?

- I've always thought Tyrion as the best candidate for the Iron Throne, but I've now also realized who'll be the best candidate for Hand of the King: Ser Davos. That dude's got smarts! See how he channeled Edd's anger and handled Thorne. Mmmm.

- Somehow, Melisandre's reveal didn't surprise me. Perhaps i read too much into the episode's title.. "The Red Woman". Was still in interesting to know though.

Ahh.. can't wait for next week!
