Thirded!

Ok so when banks make provisions for non performing loans and for projected asset deterioration, the profits are impacted. What happens when the loans start performing and when the assets re-gain value? Will they make "REPAIRMENT PROFITS"? Anything less than that is a huge scam.

Hey!!

I was about responding to you before my system went off....and I forgot.

See, in the banking industry, based on previous experiences, there's a policy that each bank must maintain a "sinking fund" (not the AMCON type, but one maintained in their books). They are to make an allowance sort of for the uncertainty of bad debts occurring. This allowance is usually a percentage of profit or an asset (I really don't have the full details). So when a bad debt is written off, it is like using the allowance to cushion the effect on the returns.

Now, when the bad debt is recovered (or something is recovered) as they will try to put in some effort to realize something, that money is plough back into that allowance which can mean either of these two: reduce the entire exposure of the company to bad/doubtful debts and reduce the income tax payable by the company. At the end of the day, it translate to increased liquidity for the firm.

Truth is that, there will always be defaulters for a particular year. And within that year, there is most likely going to be a recovery. So the recovery should help to cushion the effect of the defaulters.

If FBNH sold its bad debt to AMCON, and it is assumed that it sold only the recoverable value or any value that is calculated based on a defined criteria, the it can only make a partial impairment loss for the residual value after deducting the amount paid for by AMCON from the original book value.

Loan to Seawolf is different from investment in Seawolf or what do you think? You make impairment not only for credit losses but also investment losses.

If you were expecting your dividend electronically and you still haven't received it just proceed to Veritas Registrars at Ajose Adeogun street, VI for pick up. Dividend warrants above a certain amount (prolly 50k) are often not sent by post for security reasons. The registrar withdraws them and keeps at their office. Owners can come with identification to claim them.
If your expected dividend is not up to this amount, you might have to wait till it drops at your postal mail box.

Yes, warrants were available for pick up as early as after completion of AGM on payment date.

Lastly, your e-dividend application will not be processed if the registrars do not have your signature specimen submitted via transfer forms from your broker or via banker's confirmation of signature. It is immaterial whether the e-dividend was uploaded by your bank or not.

hi Manonamission, I will appreciate if advise me on this question: I have waited in vain for my broker to upload my transfer signature form through CSCS but after reading your post above, i discovered that banker's confirmation of signature is an alternative. Kindly confirm to me that my interpretation is Okay

Loan and investment are different thing but can have a common relationship. You can convert the loan to an equity.

However, we need to establish if it was a loan to Seawolf or an investment in Seawolf.

But should AMCON wade it, then it is definitely a loan gone bad. If its a loan gone bad, my point is, since AMCON took over the loan, there must have been some consideration from AMCON to FBNH. But if full impairment was made........

It was first a loan to Seawolf, thereafter part of it was later converted to equity. Hassan Odukale. The Honeywell investments Oba forced down the throat of FBN is still in the books. FBN is the ATM of Oba and ors.

Let me advice you so you know who to hold responsible for the delay in processing your signature.

First confirm that your transfer form has been taken to CSCS for endorsement. By endorsement, it should be stamped by CSCS and returned to your broker.

Ask your broker for the already endorsed form. If he cannot produce it, then it is his responsibility.

If endorsed, it means that CSCS will be sending the form to the Registrar of the shares in question. The time it takes usually varies. At this stage, CSCS is responsible. You can go to CSCS and ask for confirmation.

Take the form to the registrar and give them a copy. They will confirm if CSCS has sent it to them or not. They can also help to liaise with CSCS.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

Don't forget me when the pepper rest sha..

Oil price is gradually hinging up.... most of impaired loans in FBNH are oil and gas related...

Most of the Oil and Gas loans given out by First Bank had no collaterals.

There is no stress with the brokers CSCS arrangement. You will only have to be patient. I dont know if the thing has changed. They always insist you do it at the branch your account is domiciled.
