which One Will You Suggest For Us?

A modified parliamentary system. One that will suit us. Not verbatim UK or Canadian system. A prime minister with executive powers. The gallivanting and ceremonies should be left to a rotating presidency. Maybe three years term, region by region.

The work needed to fix 9ja is to massive to leave to a president that might spend 100 days a year abroad. We need a hardworking head of cabinet. Then we need a unicameral parliament. Not more than 150 members.

The 6 regions should have own police. Most states are too poor to have one each.
Certain crimes should be under regional police remit and penal code. Others like inter regional crimes under federal code.

Don't we have that agitation now? Does it not surprise you that Biafra conflict broke out after Ironsi disbanded the regions?

I don't really think so. If you already have much autonomy and more control over your life, the need for full independence will be less.
It is somebody in jail who yearns to break out. cheesy

That is the argument opponents are going to use for scaremongering. But we had regions, prime minister and ceremonial president before. It was a better form of democracy.

We have excellent presidential materials who can represent us well: Wole Soyinka, Maitama Sule, Emeka Anyiokwu, Donald Duke, Ribadu, Joy Ogwu, Okonjo Iweala etc. They would each make an excellent head of cabinet but we know they won't have the political weight to get there. We could even deliberately make a lady the first president in the new system.

As for the house members, I actually said NOT MORE than 150. The actual number can be negotiated. Round 63 would even cost us less but we could face the scenario of people saying the tribes are not represented.
