I doubt the need for fleet replenishment when you are operating in home waters.

Although something like the Korean Choni Class would make sense - its basically a mother-ship for small fast patrol vessels.

Basically, they sail it out to a patrol area and anchor it. Small patrol vessels then use it as a base - sailing out for patrols and returning and mooring to it so they can rest and eat.

Essentially, a mobile base.

This is good because:
- You can deploy smaller, faster vessels further out to sea
- It saves time, because you can station it inside of patrol areas - meaning you dont have to sail all the way back to port.
- It also means that the patrol vessels dont have to be heavily laden with fuel and supplies, making them faster and allowing them to be better deployed in the tactical sense.

The best thing is that Nigeria could do this cheaply and domestically by buying a large trawler and re-fitting it. Converting the huge areas normally used to store fish into barracks and supply storage areas and converting the large rear-area into a heli-pad. Cuba did something similar with their Rio Damuji class (pic 1)

You could also convert NNS Ambe and NNS Ofiom for this purpose

The Americans had a similar idea for coastal patrol in Veitnam (pic 2)

We need at least an logistics ship to compliment what we already have in service. Our ships are always deployed at sea, an additional replenishment/logistics ship is a needed requirement.

I shared the post because i think an additional logistics ship is a needed requirement for the Nigerian navy. Nigerian navy capital Ships are always deployed at sea, instead of having these capital boats coming to home port every now and again, logistics ships should instead provide ship and crew with their necessary replenishment.

The South-Korean example would not work. As unlike South-Korea Nigeria has a requirement to patrol all areas of her EEZ, that of Benin republic and Sao Tome. Keeping a vessel in the middle of nowhere doesn't solve the problem of policing vast seas. Vessels which are 40 meters and above are required for patrol of both Midshore and Inshore areas, while another set of 10-15 meters boats patrol the Creeks (Size, Belgium and Netherlands combined).

To maintain a constant presence at sea, the navy needs to be seen, this means more Vessels in numbers and long deployments.

Ambe and Offion are both landing ships, you don't convert a landing ship to a Replenishment ship because you have a requirement for logistics.

Korea also needs to patrol its entire coastline - hence why they have allmost 100 MPVs of a weight of 100t+ (real MPV's). The vessel wont be in the middle of no-where, it will be in the patrol area and will allow you to extend the endurance of your FB57's, Shaldags, Defender Class, Suncraft etc.

It also means that you can deploy to hot-spots that you would normally not be able to deploy to without shore-facilities.

Your capital ships have more than enough endurance to operate in your own waters.

Yes you do.

Fleet replenishment vessels exist because you need to have a vessel that can move with your fleet into foreign waters and refuel there.

If you only operate in your own waters there is no need and more economical and viable solutions should be sought.

What is a real MPV, what parameter defines what's real from what Navy B defines as real?

Ignorant generalisations like this makes me lose appetite for discussions.

We all know that Navies call many ships many things, sometimes for prestige, sometimes for legal reasons (japans new "destroyers"wink and sometimes for political reasons (new Korean "destroyers"wink.

When I say "real", what I mean is a ship that in my opinion is a true MPV and not a "plastic patrol boat"

Size, range, speed and the ability to engage in all manner of littoral warfare and security tasks
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamsuri-class_patrol_boat

Thats what makes a "real" MPV

That's not a Super Mushak, that's a Diamond Trainer Aircraft. The Air Force has been deploying the Diamond as a primary trainer for pilots for the past 12 months, seeing the Air Beetles would soon be withdrawn from service.

I realised that afterwards, but no denying the reporter said the NAF now had a new aircraft - the Super M.

Watch the video on Channels Tv carefully, after they showed the green Diamond Trainer Aircraft, which one of NAF spokeman said 'will soon be put out of service', they showed a small white Aircraft flying and later taxying on the runway.

CDS SEEKS BI-LATERAL COOPERATION WITH NIGER AND CAMEROUN
In an effort to strengthen the existing bi-lateral cooperation with Nigeria’s neighbours, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin has embarked on official trips to Niger Republic and Republic of Cameroun where he met with the top Government functionaries of the two countries
In Niger Republic, General Olonisakin met with the President of the country, Mahamadou Issoufou as well as the Chief of Defence Staff, General Seyni Garba where discussion on issues that concern the two friendly countries were highlighted. General Olonisakin thanked the Niger President for the role the country is playing in counterterrorism operations in Lake Chad Basin and the country’s role in the formation of Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
Nigeria’s CDS expressed delight that Boko Haram has been significantly decimated, a feat which called for stronger ties between Nigeria and its neighbours to ensure that no safe haven is provided for the retreating Boko Haram terrorists in the sub-region. To this end, General Olonisakin solicited for improved intelligence gathering and sharing, air asset operations and counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) operations within the Lake Chad Basin countries and across ECOWAS States.
While in Cameroun, Nigeria’s CDS was received by the Camerounian Honorable Minister of Defence, Edgard Allain Mebe Ngo'o and the country’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Rene-Claude Meka where similar discussion, as in Niger Republic, occurred. One of the highlights of the discussion in Cameroun however, was in the area of stronger cooperation in maritime environment, especially in the Gulf of Guinea, to tackle the incessant case of bunkering, oil theft and piracy. General Olonisakin has since returned to Nigeria.
