YunOS is actually AliBaba's customized Android OS. Just made certain modifications to the AndroidOS.
Moreover phones like Meizu and Xiaomi use it.

Why will they use YunOs when they don't even use AOSP? MIUI was developed before the YunOS, has its own app store and has been ported to more devices than YunOS.

Any Xiaomi device that doesn't carry the MIUI ROM (Yun,Mokee,Flyme,Lewa,Color,AOSP,Cyanogenmod) must be a ported ROM.

I noticed this when i was trying to backup my stock ROM of my boom j7 to my pc, during the process the tool used in backing up the ROM needed to access the boom j7 via android adb usb interface but it could not , at first i could not figure out why till i click on device manager to see what usb interface is boom j7 using, surprisingly i saw this YUNOSphone and in the drop down menu it displays yunos acb interface instead of android adb interface well i had to find out what it meant.....headed straight to Google and through wikipedia i was made to understand the origin of the OS

bottom line

Not trying to discourage anyone from using this phone(boom 7)
neither am i saying this to tarnish the name of the OEM
in fact is my current phone and i love it

But just wanted make known the limitations of this O.S
1. no update/upgrade to latest version of android will eventually come out
2. some 4.4 android apps will not work no matter what
3. some tweak that comes for rooted Google's android os might not work even when ur device is rooted
*maybe you don't believe me, connect your phone in media transfer mode and check your device manager

I have used one of these old Phantom series, not Phantom 5 (someone dashed me); and very recently I used the boom J8. (someone I know got it, so I borrowed for a bit).

Now, I'm using the W4. This one is my own. My initial plan was to use the J8, but the 6.0 marshmallow ish in this one caught my fancy.

My honest take between these three devices I've used is that Tecno has come a long way.
Are there flaws here and there?
Are there rooms for more improvements, Yes.
But then, the truth must be told, and that's that, to the average Nigerian...Tecno has made a lot of advancements.

I do not deny that I have become passionate about the brand. I do not deny my belief in them.

Today, for the first time ever.
I proudly held my W4 in public.
I wanted everyone to see that I was holding a Tecno phone.
That's how much i've become endeared to it.
